We spent a few perfect days here, could happily have stayed longer. The room was large and clean, the bed comfortable, the shower separated from the rest of the bathroom by a wall, so no wet feet. No hot water but this was not a problem. The terrace and the view from it are perfect; 2 comfortable relaxing chairs, a dining table and chairs and blinds to keep the sun out if necessary. Lakshan, the manager who speaks very good English, is a wonderful cook; we had the best and freshest food in Sri Lanka here and tea was always available thanks to Anton who really looked after us. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing time, this is the place to come. The town centre is about 25 minutes away on foot, the only things to use the track between the resort and the lagoon are children on their way to school, a few mopeds, the occasional tuktuk and a herd of cows twice a day. The only thing missing is a swimming or dip pool to make it absolutely perfect. Swimming in the lagoon is not recommended and the beach on the west side of the peninsula is quite a distance away.

What a delight. A wonderful position overlooking a beautiful lagoon on the North Western coast of Sri Lanka. The chalet was clean, very well appointed with stunning views over the lagoon. The service was excellent and very friendly and we enjoyed a wonderful meal relaxing and absorbing the peaceful scenery. Great for walks too. The final stay of our wonderful trip around Sri Lanka with dear friends Amitha and Ann Wickramaratne, before returning to Colombo - our start and finishing destination.

The Araliya Retreat is an excellent place to relax. There are three small chalets..all are same and very comfortable. If you are in Kalapitiya and want to relax, I will highly recommend this place. You can do boating in the nearby lagoon, not the sea. Mr Anthony is a very good person but he is very poor in understanding English language, so we had to communicate to the manager of this retreat for food order.

The food that he prepares is excellent and delicious. If you are coming here, make sure to taste the tomato soup that he prepares.

This is a lovely little place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is right on the shores of the Kalpitiya lagoon, and has 3 units that provide privacy and comfort. It has a lovely little garden, and you can sit in the verandah, enjoying the breeze, the view of the lagoon and the sound of the waves lapping on the shore! The room was large, and the beds were comfortable; it also had A/C & hto water in the showers. The Manager, Lakshan was very helpful, as were Pasindu & Anthony.

Tip: When coming to this resort by car, please note that the last stretch to get to the hotel is a dirt road, & it can be bumpy and muddy during the rainy season.

After spending three restful nights in Araliya Retreat, I have no hesitation in recommending this place.

The retreat faces the tranquil lagoon, which offers a magnificent sunset. The compound offers parking space and the chalets are neat, spacious and comfortable. This is the best place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the world and to relax. There’s opportunity for boating in the lagoon and to see the mangroves. The retreat is located in a fishing village. An evening or morning stroll in the village is so soothing. Meeting the locals is a delight. The retreat is also surrounded with coconut farms.

The Manager, Mr. Lakshan, is very humble and helpful. He is always available to provide assistance.

I was very satisfied with this place.

We spent 2 nights here in Dec 2019. The property is situated in front of the lagoon. It is very quiet, so peaceful and calm. The chalets are really good and spacious. Lakshan and uncle are very good hosts. They treated us well and food was amazing. You get some beautiful mornings. Recommended if you wanna get away from busy city. Excellent stay overall!

After being in several nice hotels for lunch /dinner in the area, the araliya really exceeds the other standards, the rooms are very big (50m2), brand new and nicely decorated. A 8m2 terrace for each cottage, this allowed us to have breakfast /dinner with the sea view. Amazing sunrise too!
And the staff very friendly, always bringing our meals at the terrace. Food was good especially the 3 curry set.
This is really a place if you want some privacy and chill outside downtown.

We stayed at Araliya for six days and enjoyed the wunderful and quiet location at the lagoon of Kalpitiya. This is a small fisher town not yet touristically developped. Fresh fruits every day for breaktfast, taken at the veranda of the cabana. Very helpful staff and management.
