The resort is positioned on a quiet beach which is very clean, safe for all ages to swim and is the perfect temperature for swimming from sunrise to sunset. A very peaceful place with lots of places to lounge and relax under the sun or under some shade.

Luxury tents are well equipped and spacious with very comfortable beds and there are lots of small details to notice and appreciate.

The food was amazing!!! Great Sri Lanka food, especially the seafood.

The management there is excellent and work through any requirements you may have during your stay. They can also provide great recommendations and have very good local knowledge of the area.

There are also plenty of Dolphins to see!!!

Once you arrive you will not want to leave this beautiful place.

Luxurious tented accommodation on the beach combining the rustic tents with 5-star comforts. The resort is clean and well maintained. Walking through the soft white sand around the resort and even in the restaurant was an unique experience. The resort has many locations scattered around (verandas, sit-outs, lounges etc) for friends to meet for a chat. The staff lead by Suresh were always on hand and were very caring and attentive. The food was excellent and we found the Chef to be extremely accommodating, catering to our requests. We can definitely recommend Dolphin Beach to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday at an unique resort.

We stayed in this lovely property with a group of friends and enjoyed ourselves throughly!

The “rooms” are in fact luxury tents comprising of two rooms and therefore very spacious. Each tent could easily accommodate 3-4 people, but as it was just two of us, the space was very large indeed. We did not use the second room at all! There is a conventional attached bathroom but also a shower outside. All the rooms have air conditioning, safety locker, water in glass bottles and the possibility to make tea and coffee.

The public spaces are large and airy and tastefully decorated with lots of cushions and places to flop down and fall asleep during the day or party at night!

The food was tasty and plentiful.

The boats which took us to watch dolphins are moored by the hotel ( they belong to the hotel) which was very convenient as we did not have to drive anywhere. Of course we did see schools of dolphin, but also a magnificent whale shark which was an unexpected treat!

The manager and staff are lovely, helpful people and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable.

We will return and also recommend.

Located just near the Kalpitya beach on the way to St.Anne's shrine
(perfect location with cool sea breeze)
The place was clean and showed us a great hospitality. The staff was very helpful and efficient.

The swiming pool is having a wonderful view of giant wind turbines which are endemic to this part of the country.

Sea food dishes are so fresh and tasty (You will get it in larger portions as well)
Overall experience was awesome.
We will recommend this place to any couple or family.
You won't regret, just be there & enjoy :-)

My friend and I spend four nights at this dreamy hotel in Kalpitiya. I can not recommend it enough. It was perfect for us. Sleeping in a very very good bed in a roomy tent with just a fan rotating and the sound of the ocean makes for a good sleep. AC was available but really not necessary.
The food was really good and the beach is sandy and not very wide with palm trees for shade. You don’t have to cross scorching hot sand forever to reach the water. At this time of year the ocean is calm though there is a swimming pool if you prefer that.
Everything is clean and service is very friendly without being intrusive, which can be an issue for me.
The English manager Pat makes everybody feel comfortable and it feels like you’re visiting friends. Pat those cashews were amazing. I hope the art ideas come true. I would join.
We went on a 2,5 hours dolphin safari. There are heaps of dolphins in the area, so you’ll get to see them. I can recommend doing that.
I miss falling asleep in the shade on the hanging beds.

Dear Guests It was wonderful having you both stay with us here at Dolphin Beach and thank you so much for this excellent review to share with fellow travellers. We are delighted that you enjoyed our facilities, the location of the resort, our delicious food and the dolphin watching - I agree it was tremendous. Looking forward to seeing you both here again in the not too distant future - and thank you for the box of sweet tamarind that you left - which was duly shared with the staff - yum. All the best for 2020. Warm wishes Pat and the DB Team

We enjoyed our stay in this mini resort or pocket paradise, run by an attentive host and a friendly staff. The rooms are clean and have a unique and personal design. The food is excellent, local produce presented in stylish dishes. You can do relaxing beach walks or chill at the pool in our out of the sun. When we saw only 1 dolphin on our first ocean safari, they organised a free of charge second dolphin safari we saw nearly thousands dolphins. Highly recommended. Kris & Dora, Belgium

This place is amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone, local or foreign. Due to the pandemic they have reduced their staff but it doesn’t in anyway hinder their personalized service to their guest. Food is delicious and generous, the rooms (luxury tents) are unique and beautiful and quirky in its own way. A big thank you for Harsha and team for making our stay a precious memory. We are looking forward to our next visit

We are going to put this location as one of the TOP 5 locations we have visited in the last 40 years of travel all over the world. Definitely recommend this place for beach lovers, Dolphin and whale watching groups, Families with kids that is looking for something out of the ordinary, couples looking to relax by the pool, enjoy the sunset and walk the beach. It starts from the time you get into the property with super service. The reception in the beach along with the fantastic rooms that they have are an experience for every traveler. Clean, well equipped, comfortable rooms with a relaxing sitting room at the entrance overlooking the beach is to die for. Chathu our steward is definitely an asset to this location with his service, directions, helpfulness and “7 Star” care. He is the one to ask for and you are assured of a super good stay the resort. Sanka the executive chef provides you with meals that are unforgettable. As a former chef myself, I want to definitely recommend Sanka’s culinary skills and creations designed for their location. The Seafood Platter is out of this world and I would recommend this to everyone. It’s so good to see the chef visiting the restaurant and talking with guests and taking care of their culinary needs. Maria who took care of our reservation was excellent, helpful and very detail oriented. We are definitely going back to this location mainly because of the service from Chathu, food from Sanka and help from Maria. Please don’t hesitate to book this location for an unforgettable super stay. Thank you Dolphin Management and staff for the heavenly stay we had and we are looking forward to returning to your hotel within the next few months.

The biggest issue is going during off season. This is because the sea is rough and dirty and understandably, they've closed off the beach due to sandy winds. However this makes for a poor experience as there isnt much to do in the resort (other than a pool) or around kalpitiya. The whole place also has a fairly worn out look and beach chairs/beds aren't maintained and the toilets, showers etc in the tents frequently have issues and need attention (stop working, low pressure etc). Food is decent and staff are very helpful but overall it isn't value for money. The b&b rates, during off season, are equivalent to FB rates for locals in luxury hotels/resort chains (Jetwing, Cinnamon etc) and the latter have far better options, service and rooms. Perhaps it's difficult maintaining these places at competitive rates post Covid and the economic crisis but unfortunately we didn't come out of it feeling like the stay was worth it. Maybe it's better during the peak season.

Beautiful property and compound with lots of activity tents for families with kids to do. The abilitry to go and see the dolphins is a huge plus. The swimming pool is great. The unique dinner table in the sand has a great feel. The tents are very comfortable with fans and air-conditioning in the main bedroom but maybe there could be extra cooling in the second bedroom. The bathrooms can be reonovated and the tents spruced up after the prolonged closure due to COVID. Introduction of a stronger insect repellant system due to the thatched roofs is recommended. The dinner menu and service is above standard and the chef and waiters are always ready to oblige.

Hi there, One wind turbine is about 150 meters away. But with the wind, see, and other sounds of nature it's not disturbing. And ones in your tent and with AC and fan on all sounds blend in. Best regards from sunny Sri Lanka Dean
