We spent in Madunandani two weeks in July-August 2014. Indeed, it is a fantastic place located in the countryside and surrounded by jungles. Every day you see monkeys, squirrels, big lizards (swimming in the river nearby), peacocks, iguanas and other funny staff which lives by its own life. The location is pretty quite except of bird songs and night dogs concerts in the villages nearby. The beach is in 10 minutes tuk-tuk ride. Ocean was pretty violent in July, but there is a (relatively) quite bay where you may swim normally.
Ayurveda treatment is quite serious and we were really surprised that a pulse diagnostics is not a joke at all and works very well. We stayed together with our daughters (10 & 13) and each of us received personalized treatment, very essential and manifold. The food is fantastic with tons of fruits, many of them we did not know before. But be prepared that there will be no meat, alcohol and all other nice things which ayurveda does not welcome. Currently only two double guest rooms with AC are in operation and we were the only tenants fully surrounded by care and kindness of the personnel. Frankly speaking, we asked to clean our rooms only once a day (originally they was arranged twice a day).
A typical day composed of Morning tea – Breakfast – Ayurvedic treatment (~4 hours) - Juice – Lunch – Go to Beach – Tea – Dinner. No time to bore. Some excursions are also included.
Special thanks to doctor Seth, who is fantastic and very interesting person and serious ayurveda professional. We remembered his smile and kindness. We will definetely return back.

I contacted Madunandani Ayurveda after looking for places in Mirissa online and reading reviews on tripadvisor. So pleased I found it! Dr Seth was very helpful from the outset, even organising a tuk tuk to pick me up off the bus. I completed a 10 day panchakarma treatment here. Madunandani is a short walk through the jungle to the local beach at Thalaramba or a 5-10 min tuk tuk ride into Mirissa (the cost is included). Dr Seth also organised some small day trips (tea plantation, batik factory & visiting temples) which was wonderful and, again, included in the price. The food was very tasty and abundant! Lovely soups, beautiful main dishes and lots of fruit! The boys serving the food were very sweet. The room was gorgeous, cleaned everyday and the bathroom is partially open to the outside which is something I love! It is still very private.
Dr Seth and the treatment staff are very professional. Preyanika, my therapist, was a wonderful woman and very kind! The cleaning treatments aren't always pleasant but really so beneficial. I felt very calm and balanced after my 10 days and can see the benefit of a longer stay which I would like to do in the future. The only downside would be that it could be great to do some yoga each day as I felt I ate a lot but didn't move my body enough.
I became very interested in learning about Panchakarma in more depth after my treatment here.
Thank you so much Dr Seth and the staff at Madunandani and can't forget Elena! I look forward to seeing you again! xx

Madunandani Ayurveda Resort, located inside a village named Thalaramba which not farm from Mirissa Tourist Zone area, is poised for best ayurveda treatment in an
ambiance surrounded by nature with its flora and fauna. The resort is run by a couple both of whom are ayurveda physicians. Either of them is always present there to give the guests company and advice about the treatments done mainly by well-trained therapists. I and my wife stayed there for 15 days in last October. I received treatment for 14 days. The treatment done daily for around three hours included different types of massage that was so soothing. The cost of the accommodation, which included breakfast and lunch, and that of the treatment was charged separately. But the website did not contain anything about the treatment packages and cost thereof. So, it will be advisable to know about the cost of the treatment packages from the owners before proceeding to the property -- we did so too.

Hi to everyone, we visited this ayurveda center in December 2012.
Expect some fun from treatment like massage (if you are lucky with the massager because there was only one doing his job good - Ravi, now he quit I know, I don't know who else is left). Intestine cleaning is also fun since you get some medicine water into your hole and then running to toilet. During the bath treatment you will be able to get nice pics with flowers. And when you do stomach cleaning eating coconuts everybody around will be staring at you and telling you - COME ON, DRINK MORE, BBBOOOOOWWWEEEEEE :) Nicely done! If you believe in ayurveda and like to have some fun - go there, you will get calm, nice and fun treatment I hope, and the food is good as well )

We stayed here for two nights whilst travelling around Sri Lanka and I’m so pleased we chose this place. Quiet, tranquil and beautiful surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of Mirissa but close enough on a short tuk tuk ride - best of both worlds. The staff were incredibly friendly on hand to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom had an open air shower. The pool was fab and so warm. We had some treatments on our last day which just topped off the experience nicely. We would definitely return - I’d look at staying longer and would book one of their treatment packages to unwind from my usual stressful life. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable, we will definitely return!

The place has some positive features such as the size of rooms, peaceful gardens, nice pool and the option for a variety of massage treatments. However the overall level of service was poor, with blood stains on 'clean' bedsheets topping it off. I'm not sure how this is rated so highly given our very poor experience. Do not stay here until it has been completed and the service improved

We found this accommodation near to Mirissa beach following a disastrous first night at a terrible beach style guesthouse. This property is a short tuk tuk ride from the beach but worth it due to the peaceful surroundings it's in. Although labelled as a health resort there is no pressure to take any treatment or massage. The hosts are fantastic, helpful and never pushing any services. Having said that my wife took two extraordinarily inexpensive massages which were brilliant. We stayed five nights and had evening meals there twice which were restaurant standard local food. The rooms were spacious and clean and the bathroom part open which was quirky. We spent some days on the beach and used the beach restaurant bars of an evening. We had plenty of kothu in various local cafes. We had a return bus trip to Galle which was fine and fun. We also did a whale watching trip and had sightings of blue whales and dolphins. Don't pay more than 3000 rupees for this because quotes vary. The only criticism of Madunandani is that the grounds/gardens/pool are unfinished but this is due for completion within a few weeks. Pool could still be used though. This didn't spoil anything for us because it is a wonderfully relaxing, quiet place with easy access to all facilities and hosted by lovely people. It was also considerably cheaper than the rubbish beachfront hotels and guesthouses along the beach. Highly recommended.

One of the best places in Mirissa to relax and experience the authentic Sri Lankan ayurvedic medicine. Located in a very convenient location and very close to the beach as well. So it's a good get away to relax and enjoy the sun shine, sea food and Sri Lankan culture. Seth is a wonderful doctor and very professional as well.
