Neighbourhood
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

Super cheap stay in Kyoto. It was our base for four nights. It’s really close to Nishi Markets (10 min walk) and has a bus stop right outside to all the key locations. Family Mart and supermarket also right outside. Very friendly staff! Room was small with a fridge, kettle and

This hotel was reasonably priced, clean as in a good location about 5 minutes walk from a main subway station. Also close to many of the bus routes that took you to main sightseeing places. Everything was small but we expected that. I was with my 16 year old son who was happy

For the price, can’t require more! Service is good, it’s really clean and quite. Choose “semi-double room”, the room is great! The only thing will be the bed is a little bit too small for two people! But overall it was a good stay. 這種價格在京都很難找到更好的! 服務好、環境乾淨、地點很棒,

This was a hotel from a bidding site and I was aiming for a 3*, it was cheap and it was ok. The room is tiny and the bed isn’t much for two adults. Moving around the room requires one person to be in the bed and the other on it. It was generally clean apart from a soiled

Hi Carmen - I recall an underground car park near the entrance (or it may be something else, completely!). However, I did notice at least 3 car parks in the immediate neighborhood. What I also observed was that the parking charges were well below Tokyo standards :) Hope this helps. Have a great trip! -Ravi

Take the subway and stop at Shijo Station. With a plan you continue by foot it is easy, It is faster than the bus.
