This hotel is rather old and not renovated. Even the sign board has some defects. The front desk staff was not warm. A surprise for Japanese hospitably as the other Japanese hotels we stayed in were most welcoming. It is expensive at JPY22,000 (USD195) for...More

The Hearton Hotel is close to Karasume-Oike station, just a few stops from Kyoto Station. It was basically a good hotel. My solo room felt a little small however. Pros The hotel had: - proximity to Karasume-Oike tram station - friendly reception staff - a...More

I like the way this establishment is run. It is very busy, but efficient. Bonus' are the option of a beautifully prepared Japanese breakfast, Washing machines and microwaves available for eat in options, and bicycles to use for free! The rooms are good, despite being...More

For the price, this hotel is great. It's two blocks from the manga museum and one metro stop from the castle. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores (7-11 and Lawsen)within a few blocks. The metro station is just around the corner. Quiet hotel with a...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street

I bought JR Wide Pass & ICOCA Card - JR Wide pass for JR Haruka Limited from Kansai Airport all the way to Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, I used ICOCA Card to Karasuma Oike Station. Not too sure about Kansai thru pass

I would agree with Mark. I would call ahead and ask. However, if you use Kuroneko to send it, you can choose when it will arive, so you could plan to have it arive after you have checked it.
