great hostel! probably the best one i’ve stayed at so far. very nice staff, extremely clean, very thought through (foot mats for the shower, curtains around bed, much space, many services, they make sure the air is fresh, ...). location is very central as well, hostel is located in the middle of a shopping street. the common area is very cozy and there’s a rooftop. all in all, incredibly good value for money!

Hana Hostel is in a great location. It's close to the subway and within walking distance to many places. It's a easy walk to museums, shrines/temples, shopping and restaurants.

The hostel itself is nice, clean, comfortable (the blanket on that bed was amazing). The shower is good. You have storage for your things and space for your bags. It's nice there is a curtain around the bed so, its private and dark.

I would certainly stay here again.

While the location is very convenient in terms of public transportation (near Hakata Station and Gion Subway Station) as well as Canal City Mall area and was situated within a public market area, it can be double edge during late at night as the noise outside may keep you awake.

Pro-tip : If you can request, stay away from rooms facing the market street to maybe minimize the midnight noise.

Overall, it is really fit for budget travellers/ backpackers. Check in and check out process are efficient. Bargain price is really affordable.

Stayed in Hana hostel in Osaka before and was very impressed so i had no hesitation booking Fukuoka hana hostel. Room was very small (I've stayed in a few hotels in Japan before but this is still very small compared with Japanese standard room). The location is not that great. Even it's said it is in the shopping area but personally I think this area is not attractive to tourist. Staff were able to communicate in English. There was no elevator so make sure you're able to climb up the stairs with luggages. I would say this is a budget hostel and you get what you pay since the price is pretty cheap.

Our double room was on the 3rd floor, there were no lifts. The room was small, the table and chairs were sticky, whilst the toilet was incredibly small and had sewers smell. Being a petite girl, my partner and I found it difficult to maneuver around the room and washroom. We couldn't even open our luggage. We had to boil our own water with the one and only kettle. The shower's hot water was on/off working, and the A/C unit was quite loud at night.

On a brighter note, the location was awesome, shops and restaurants were widely available in the area. The staffs were friendly and helpful.

The room (with triple bunk bed) is not large and the communal area (kitchen & dinning area) is a bit small. The WiFi connection at the lobby is OK but not in our room on the 2nd floor. The location is great with a nearby supermarket.

I stayed in a private room with a private bathroom. The size was just great for one person.

What I mainly do in a hostel room is sleeping and it is my main, if not only, quality criterion when I go somewhere. I must say I did not sleep well at Fukuoka Hana hostel... Part of it is because of the neighbors on which the hostel as absolutely no control, but that was not the only problem...

In the room, it gets extremely humid and hot at night, even though I was there at the end of November and it was rather cold outside. The window was full of water and droplets every morning. There was a lot black mold on the base of the window probably because of the humidity.

Since you sleep on a futon on the ground, you get to hear AND feel the steps of the room next to you (and maybe above?). I probably wasn't very lucky for neighbors since it felt like they were 4 in their room.

The air conditioning/heating in my room did not seem to work that well. I asked the reception to check it but don't know if they did.

On the plus side, the lounge next to the reception is pretty cool, with nice music, two computers and a small kitchen where you can find everything you could possibly need to cook, as well as free tea and instant coffee. They can also lend you umbrellas for free. Wi-Fi works just great. Everything seemed very clean in the hostel.

The staff is nice, but I asked what I could do during my day in Fukuoka and they said there was a shrine, a park and that's seemed like it... Not sure if that's the whole picture...

If you stay 3 days, you get either a bike rent for a day, a package of noodles or a 300 yens discount. That's a pretty odd combination, but can't say no to free stuff!

Location is pretty good, close to Tenjin, the subway and around 15-20 minutes walking to Hakata station. The entrance is inside a small covered mall which is pretty weird, but on the other side, you do get a river view!

So to wrap up, maybe if you stay there you'll have better luck than I did and get a good room with good neighbors.

This hostel is close to many attractions. The hostel can be accessed by two stations, Gion (ext3 longer but cheaper) or nakasu kawabata (ext 5-same way to market- shorter time but a bit more expensive fare).

It is located almost at the end of market (if comes from nakasu kawabata ext 5). It is connected to the matket , the back of canal city, or tenjin shopping areas. The Tochoji temple, for example.

I stayed for 1 nights in a double room ensuites with my grandmother. I got didcounts of 600y after previously staying at other hana/j hopper hostels. The hostel provided intensive info of whats going on in fukuoka so allowing me to attend Hanabi festival.the staff is helful and friendly.

The room is clean and spacious. I felt cozy stayinf here

I stayed 2 nights at this hostel, I chosen the Japanese style double suite + private bathroom, because I didn't want to sleep into the dormitory after 25 hours of flights + jetlag. I paid 11 600¥ for 2 nights, this price is usually for two but I didn't care, I just wanted to sleep in peace. This hostel is located at the beginning of the Nakasu Kawabata shopping arcade, about 5 mins walk from Gion subway station. The room was japanese standard, tatami + futon, mini table, small TV, small bathroom for a North american person but it's Japan after all. I did like the rooftop terrace, you have a nice view on the river + city, and as well washing machines. You got free wifi everywhere in the building as well. I recommend it for people who are on budget.
