Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely sensational hotel - it has everything: a wonderful location near Ginza and close to so many shops and a huge range of restaurants from high-end to fun casual places. It's directly above a subway station and is across the road from beautiful parks. The rooms are very generous in size with a huge separate dressing room that could be a small bedroom. Although it's not brand new, it's been impeccably maintained and the quality of the rooms across all aspects is very impressive. The staff are very friendly and responsive - I asked for an iron to be brought to the room and it was delivered in less than 5 minutes. We broke our stay up by a week away and when we returned they had remembered I had asked for an iron and had already put one in the room. Our kids loved the amazing pool and spa. We booked a "Value the Experience" package which was terrific and includes complimentary non-alcoholic drinks from the mini-bar. If you do book this package, I would suggest, however, that you check you bill upon check-out as they had charged us for the non-alcoholic drinks and it was a bit awkward because they also charged us for an oolong tea from our connecting room which they told us they wouldn't remove as that room wasn't a "suite" room like our other room was so didn't get the complimentary beverages. I should have just taken the tea from the other room! It seemed a silly petty thing to charge us for and not consistent with the rest of the experience there. Apart from that, though, it was terrific!

Warm greetings from The Peninsula Tokyo and thank you for choosing our hotel once again for your recent stay. It is a great honor for us to receive your very kind words of praise that you had a wonderful time and that the hotel is a wonderful place to stay.  I truly regret that you encountered some inconveniences with the bill, and we deeply apologise for not having confirmed the details upon check-out, which we deem as truly unacceptable on our part. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with our team to review and to ensure this does not happen again in the future.  Again, thank you for sharing your feedback. We hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

When you add up their service, food, rooms, location, employees... it adds up to the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. And I've stayed at a lot of nice hotels!! I was beyond impressed with everything. The rooms were huge, and so luxury down to every detail (ie: outdoor temp thermometer in the closets, nail dryer in the vanity...) and the service was amazing. Shout out to their concierge team, particularly Steve, who basically planned our entire trip. I emailed them about once a day for two weeks leading up to our stay and they set us up with amazing reservations and recommendations. The hotel is also located in the amazing Ginza district, with a ton to do in walking distance. But more than that, the basement level is actually a metro stop on the H line! So it's 3 stops away from Roppongi, where we also spent a lot of time. The staff is so accommodating, they actually walked us to the basement and helped us buy our metro tickets on the first day. Everyone was so kind! When my husband wasn't feeling well, we called the concierge and a bellman went to the pharmacy to get him some medication. Also, worth noting, the food was amazing! We ate breakfast here everyday, went to Sushi Wakon for dinner (will write a separate review on that - AMAZING) and to the Peter one afternoon for sunset views and cocktails. During this trip to Japan, we also stayed at the AMAN Kyoto and the Park Hyatt Tokyo and to be honest - the Peninsula Tokyo was our favorite hotel. 5 star everything! We can't wait to go back. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

The hotel was terrific. I am ambassador elite with Marriott, so have stayed in my fair share of nice hotels in Asia in particular. This Peninsula is a great property with a super friendly staff. The minute you walk in the lobby to check in the staff gives you their attention and takes care of your needs. The room/suite was quite big for Tokyo, clean, zero smell, and the bed/linens was extremely soft and comfortable. I slept very well.

The hotel also managed to secure a reservation for 2 to Jiro's, which is a difficult reservation to get. My friend and I had to cancel due to his having to go back to the USA early, but I revived my part of the reservation and made it to Jiro's. The concierge had plenty of information about what to do in Tokyo, what sights to see, where to go, very helpful people.

Overall, a top notch luxury property with first class staff from front desk, to the housekeeping especially, to concierge. Very happy with my stay. Thanks Peninsula Tokyo!

I'm not a very light sleeper but I just could not get any decent sleep here. Even though I was on the 20th floor I could still hear the constant sound of the trains. Trains stop maybe around 12.30am? That's the last time remember hearing the trains. Even business hotels like Toyoko Inn have better sound proofing and they are usually right next to the train stations.

However, what's worse is the constant humming noise within the room. They need to get some acoustics expert in to look at this because the humming noise gets right into your head. I could not sleep at all because of this and moved around the room and noticed some areas the noise was not as audible but unfortunately the left side of the bed was very loud. My partner was asleep so I thought it's just me and I was going crazy and the next morning when I told her about it, I noticed that the noise was not audible on the right side of the bed. She also noticed the noise when she switched to the left side. I even turned off the air condition thinking it was that but didn't solve the issue. Sitting in the toilet was actually the most quiet area in the entire room.

They also made some effort into providing a minimalist approach by hiding things in the room like the TV and coffee machine but the bed side charger is in a drawer so you need to open the drawer to charge your phone. Not sure why they can't just put in a power point or the wireless charger on the top. Also one of the wireless chargers wasn't working. The one nice touch is that the controls have sensors which light up so even in the dark you can control the air conditioning etc.

Finally the check in is right at the back of the lobby. When you enter the hotel, both the left and right hand side is the cafe with a walkway in the middle. You are effectively walking through a cafe to get to check in. Imagine you arrive in their famous Rolls Royce pick up but then the first thing you see when you enter the hotel is a whole room full of people eating and you have to walk past just to get to the check in counter. The feeling of luxury and exclusivity disappear in an instant.

Service was nice. Everyone was smiling and helpful as expected but overall the rooms need a huge improvement in sound proofing in order to provide a decent sleeping environment which is the main objective of a luxury hotel for me.

We were here for 3 days and it was excessively overpriced due to the holidays. We paid at least 3.5 times the cost of a regular cost for a suite. Booking nonrefundable 6 weeks early really hurt us as there was availability and a price reduction closer to our dates. Other than that, everything else was above average. I didn't quite get the luxury pampering I expected but everyone was professional and very courteous. I stayed at another 5 star hotel during my stay in Tokyo and that by far exceeded my expectations.

Staying at The Peninsula Tokyo certainly is a grand experience. You can feel this upon entering the premises. There is a great bar on the 24th floor as well. The hotel is just across the street from the Imperial Palace (which makes for a great morning run) and conveniently located near several train lines/stations. The rooms are also impeccably clean and well-appointed (they are huge, with everything you need).

That said, The Peninsula is of course quite pricey. Furthermore, there is no breakfast buffet and the a la carte options are quite expensive as well.

I stayed four nights at the Peninsula Tokyo in August 2023. Pros: very large (especially for Tokyo), quiet, comfortable room with a separate dressing room and a large modern bathroom with two separate vanities, a beautiful huge soaking tub, a walk-in shower, and a modern toilet. The room included two twin beds and a full-size sleeper sofa. A family of four could easily use the room if two are willing to sleep on the sleeper sofa, making it more economically feasible for families. The large bathroom and dressing room provide ample space to spread out. The room was meticulously cleaned and refreshed daily. Cons: the restaurants are expensive but crowded. A simple breakfast of yogurt, toast, orange juice, and coffee is about U.S. $40. It's easy to go across the street to a Seven Eleven for much less expensive food. Also, I made my reservation through hotels dot com. My friend made a reservation directly with the Peninsula. Rooms were identical and on the same floor. At checkout, my friend's request for an extension of checkout time was granted. My identical request was refused.

The rooms are big and comfortable with expansive dresser and bathroom, which is a luxury by Japan city standard. There are also interesting privacy features like in-room valet box which allows them to send things ie. newspaper/ice bucket to our room without pressing the doorbell. All we need to do is to retrieve it from the valet box in our room.

The hotel is highly accessible and has a private exit from the basement that links us to Hibiya metro station. Love the convenience!

I booked this hotel as a NYE gift to my parents and the experience was extraordinary. From the moment you check in, the level of hospitality is unrivalled.

The staff speak impeccable English. And everyone we met, showed a level of care and hospitality that is honestly second to none.

Akane Tanaka was extremely gracious with fantastic knowledge of Tokyo. Tomoyuki Nonaka at the Hei Fung Terrace could not have been more helpful in assisting us with our reservation and lunch at the fantastic Chinese restaurant. I cannot thank the team at the Peninsula enough.

I've been fortunate to stay in some wonderful hotels including the usual well-known ones like the Mandarin Oriental, La Mamounia et al. But there's just something very special about the Peninsula.

If you're going to Tokyo to explore, book at the peninsula since location wise it's on top of a subway station, and already near a major shopping district. If you're going to Tokyo to relax, and spend more time in the hotel, go with MO. It definitely is more modern, and new. But location wise, it's a little far from places people tend to explore. Their sushi restaurant 'Sora Sushi' is really good for its price too.

I think the tattoos are more of an issue when you go to the hot springs. The hotel pools such as at Peninsula should be ok. Maybe ask the hotel at check-in and see what they say.
