Hotel La Vela has 13 bright and comfortable rooms equipped with TV, minibar, wireless internet and air conditioning. The hotel is in a quiet location surrounded by pine trees. From the large terrace situated in the back garden, you may relax looking at the beautiful sea views while lying on deck chairs . I spent 1 week in this nice hotel. It's little, with 10 up 12 rooms with a beautiful terrace where we had breakfast and dinner. he view is incredible, over the "Cala Matana". The sea is so clean that you can see the deep inside. The island is full of pine trees and you walk in the shadow and reach all the bays easily. The breakfast is very rich, from yogurt to fruit, with a lot of cakes made by the landlady. You can eat fish or meat for dinner, both very good.

We spent 3 nights in June 2018. Let's start with the positive side: 1. Location: the hotel is near what is probably the prettiest cove on the island, just 10 minutes walk downhill (and 15 uphill). 2. The terrace has a nice view of the sea and it is surrounded by green and pretty trees. 3. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. 4. The hotel rooms and communal areas are kept very clean. And now the bad sides: The positive sides above do not justify the price. - The structure is old and requires some modernization - The rooms are very small and we felt like being in a jail cell. Despite the pleasant outdoor temperature, we had to use air conditioning because the room was too warm during the night and would not cool down - Breakfast is minimal (mostly cakes and coffee), which is ok for Italian guests, but not enough for international (nothing savoury or healthy). The chopped fruit option is not available to all guests, just the lucky first guests at the buffet. So if like us you are unlucky enough to be staying at the same time as a school trip, there is a very limited offer at breakfast as the first group of guests demolished the buffet. Finally, the reason for two stars is mostly to do with the fact that the management thought would be ok to have a group of young students (age between 13 and 15 I reckon), to stay in the hotel together with the regular guests. Instead of keeping the students to one side of the hotel, they surrounded us, on either side as we were placed in the middle of student rooms. The students were obviously very loud and disturbing during the night. Different structures on the island were hosting students, and other hotels did inform me at time of booking of the situation and suggested me to look for alternatives, the management of the hotel La Vela did not inform me, and this spoiled the otherwise nice holiday I had in the beautiful Tremiti Islands. In conclusion, they charge for a luxury hotel but offer minimal services.

I stayed four nights, a friend joined me for three and we had a fabulous time exploring the nature trails and coves on San Domino and then marvelling at the mysterious San Nicola - its castle and monastery. The hotel was fantastic, simple, clean, private and good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to come again and recommend it throughly for those seeking 'escape'.

We stayed at this hotel for six nights with a swimtrek group. It has a great position with several lovely outdoor areas overlooking the sea eastwards. Great sunrises. It is small with I think 14 rooms. Each room has a small patio, great for drying wet swimmers. The staff are great, we had three dinners and all our breakfasts there. The food was good. Wifi is a bit iffy but the islands are fairly remote.

We stayed at Hotel La Vela for three nights and arrived via helicopter. This is a wonderful way to access the Island and not too expensive considering it is a 30 minute journey. We were met at the heliport and the two minute transfer was very efficient. We had booked a sea view room and this is certainly worth the supplement as the location is excellent. Be prepared for a very basic room, on the small side but spotlessly clean. We were visiting just before the season began and the breakfast table had plenty of rolls, cheese, yogourt, etc. but the same home made cakes were presented every day of our stay and on our final day looked decidedly stale. We would definitely recommend bed and breakfast as the local restaurants are excellent. There are no cars on the island so beware of the cost of ordering a taxi. The hotel taxi was not available to us to go 100 yards, despite our offer of payment, so the local company charged 10 euros! A car was necessary due to one of our party sustaining a leg injury during our visit requiring hospital attention each day. It left a very nasty taste that, despite an offer of payment, the hotel taxi could not be used. One of the local restaurants gave us a lift back to Hotel Vela and refused payment.

Having fond memories of a one night stay here a few years ago, our return trip didn't disappoint. The hotel van waiting at the ferry dock was a welcome relief after a long day of travel. The entire facility, from the grounds to the room, is clean and neat. We really enjoyed the sun deck/lounge area and its peaceful, quiet atmosphere. It's situated high above a small beach with great snorkeling and has a beautiful view onto the Adriatic. A nice breakfast is provided with a variety of cakes and breads that is enjoyed outside. For dinner, they offer an excellent variety of delicious dishes, and we never walked away disappointed. The staff is organized, punctual, and very proud to speak their native tongue; as a result we had some difficulty communicating with our limited Italian. We would not hesitate to return.

La Vela is the best location of any of the hotels we saw on the island - as others have noted, a short walk down to the port as well as to the town area, and across the street from the only ATM on island. Our room was simply appointed but comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, with a lovely view and very peaceful. We paid half board and like one of the other reviewers, I might choose B&B if we were to return but only to have more flexibility in dining around the island - we had no complaints at all about the food -- it was, in fact, quite good and breakfast is far from a "typical" Italian breakfast -- there is a table laden with mostly homemade baked goods that were exceptional, along with fresh fruit, toast, etc. On two of our 4 days we asked for a lunch-to-go instead of dinner, and they were very accommodating. Encourage people to rent a gammone and enjoy the water on your own, which we did 2 of our 3 days.Dinner was very good as well, just a little more limited than a restaurant in terms of menu and timing (latest time to start was 8:15). In terms of things to do on island, there are also a number of very nice walking trails, a number of which provide access to other coves. If you are looking for a hopping beach and nightlife "scene" I would say Dan Domino is not for you, but that is precisely what makes it so very special. We would most definitely return to yjr zytrmiti for a relaxing Adriatric holiday and would choose La Vela again!

We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, basic in style and comfortable. We paid slightly more to have a patio with a sea view. We stayed half-board on this occasion. If we were to return, we would use the same hotel but stay B&B to allow us to try other restaurants in the area. The food at the hotel was good - typical quick Italian style breakfast; the evening meal, with the very swift service, was over quite quickly and we felt a bit rushed. The hotel offers a reasonably priced boat trip around the islands. The small cove is a short walk down from the hotel and the water very inviting. The sun beds on the beach were over-priced in our opinion; you can sit for free on the rocks however. Snorkelling was good.

This hotel probably has the best location on the Island. Its a walk down to the Port where the bar & activities are enough to keep you entertained , in between having dips in that spectacular water. It just a walk to the town area, with a smattering of shops, bars , restaurants and markets will have all you need. Best of all, relaxing on a comfy chair out the back, cold beer and a glorious view. We stayed for a week, and we are going back - the island nearby has a glorious old church - enjoy an island boat tour. Bring your snorkeling gear, lots to see with a special grotto to explore.

We loved this charming, superbly-run small family hotel with breath-taking views and the best cooking on this magical island. Tonino, his wife Ornella and his brother Emilio meticulously oversee everything including the vegetable patch. It’s set above a sandy cove among Mediterranean pines and a lovely garden with flowering shrubs and has 14 impeccably kept rooms facing the sea or the pine trees. Well-placed for walks - the island is car-free - it’s a short walk to the port or the village for a campari! We'll be back very soon.
