Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our first time to Fukuoka (1st week in Dec 2008)Once again, this chain of hotels is really value for money in the business district. Close to the Hakata station - a 5min walk from the Hakata Gate Exit. Hakata station itself is really huge so you will need to read the signs to get to the Tourist Info counter and from there find the exit to get to Toyoko Inn.

Follow the map on the hotel's website. When you get out of Hakata station (hakata exit), cross the main traffic light junction (a little to the right side). The Inn is located inside the street where the "ampm" convenience store is. Take a look at my pics for landmarks.

We booked 2 Single B rooms - pleasant colours, clean, very comfortable for 1 person. The usual amenities and small TV. The room heater/aircon can be regulated. Not much of a view.

We had no problems communicating with the reception staff in simple English. CheckIn is very late at 4pm so we just left our bags at the lobby and registered ourselves before taking a walk to Canal City. We liked the location.

The lobby was very busy in the mornings during checkout at 10am. It was so crowded, we couldnt get a table for breakfast before that time. In the end, we bought some bread or sandwiches from our fav bakery at Hakata station instead.

There are 2 computers in the lobby for free internet access.

TIP
I recommend getting a hotel within walking distance of Hakata Station esp if you need to get to the Fukuoka airport during peak morning traffic. Most of the commuters alight at this station so you have ample space to bring your luggage on board. Although there is another Toyoko near Tenjin station, it may be a problem boarding the train to the airport during peak morning hours.

We saw the huge Comfort Hotel sign which was even closer to Hakata Station but didnt have time to take a look.

For more on Fukuoka, please read my separate review on the city.

There are several (think it is three) Toyoko Inn in Fukuoka.
The one we stayed is three minutes walk from Hakata
train/subway station. Extremely convenient for travelling to
everywhere within or out of fukuoka. There are many shops
inside the train station and one convenience store next door
to the hotel.
Our room is a double room B (slightly more expensive
than double room A) with reasonable size. Free breakfast
consists of two types of rice cake, miso soup, coffe/tea.
Free internet in the lobby. Good value for the price.
Front desk staffs speak English
Will come back to this hotel when next time in Fukuoka

Stayed for two nights. Property is very close to Hakata Station. There’s a Family Mart next to the hotel, and Hakata Bus Terminal is just opposite the road. In short, hotel is at a super convenient location if you’re coming to or returning to the airport.

Hotel was able to hold luggage until the 4PM check-in time. Staff had some problems with English, but I managed to make myself understood. Selected toiletries – e.g. shaver and comb – are picked-up from the lobby as needed in order to reduce wastage. Cafe where breakfast is served is very small with almost shoulder to shoulder seating. Range is also quite limited.

Room is functional but very small, even for business hotel standards. Rate is very attractive though.

The hotel is located 3-mins walk from the busy Hakata Station, which itself is a huge shopping mall with tons of restaurants in basement, 9/F & 10/F. There is a convenience store next to the hotel.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in process was quick and smooth. I stayed there Day 1 and Day 4 of my trip to Kyushu, room size for the first night was a bit small and the one on the other night was bigger which allow us to tidy up our luggages together. Room is clean and has all amenities that you need.

Breakfast is more Japanese style and varieties are fine for a business hotel. It might be a bit crowded as the dining area is not large.

Vending machines are available also at ground-floor and outside the hotel. Washing machine is also available.

as with all Toyoto inns the room was small and bathroom tiny
We stayed there as next to station and we had an early flight to catch next morning, which was only 2 stops on the metro to airport
Very strange wardrobe in middle of wall which was of no use and took up valuable space
The Toyoto inns are not my favourite hotel chain but mostly you get the same basic but acceptable quality

Refer to my review for Toyoko inn , Kokuraekimae minamiguchi , I'd like to say thank you to the front officers on Jun 13, 2013 for helping me to get my IPad back which I forgot at Kokuraekimae minamiguchi branch on that morning. This confirms that Japan is the safest country to travel by your own. I traveled with children and husband to Japan every other year and Toyoko inn hotel chain is dependable ;D. Best money value , safe and be a member , you ' ll get discount.

Though small staff are helpful. One speaks mandarin. The room is standard and basic with necessities. Very close to subway. The website provided the route going up footbridge with elevator. So no worry with carrying luggage up and down. This also save us time.

Convenient location, opposite the train station and just two tube stops to the airport.
There is Starbucks across the street and a family mart next door. Numerous restaurants and shops above and around the station.
This is classed as a western business hotel and whilst travelling around Japan I stayed in quite a few and was surprised that most of them feel a little dated comparted to what we’re used to in Europe, it was perfectly acceptable, clean and would use again if in the area. We didn’t have breakfast as our flight was super early.

We had 23 girls on our trip and checking in was a bit crazy. Not all the girls saw the demonstration on how to work the lights in the room as it's nothing like the states. The rooms are very very small - both joint and single rooms. The beds are also incredibly hard.
The staff was super friendly.
The breakfast buffet was ok. Not a typical western breakfast so it was a bit hard to choose from. Other than that it was good.
