My husband and I spent two nights at this delightful hotel. We booked a two night package of B&B plus an included tour of Blenheim Palace, which would have cost us an extra £59 each, if booked separately.

Everywhere is really clean and has sanitising stations and a one way system where appropriate.

All the staff are very friendly, particularly the girls on Reception, the waiter Angelo and the dark-haired breakfast waitress. We were always shown to the same window seat for breakfast and dinner: a thoughtful touch.

Great choice at breakfast and lovely evening meals. It was exceptionally busy at breakfast during Covid, so we were late for our timed Blenheim visit. I expect a buffet will speed things up once the pandemic has ended.

Small downsides, just to be aware of:

Our room was set over two floors. Nobody asked if we were disabled. We are not but we are in our Kate seventies and getting down the curved stairs in the middle of the night to go to the loo was quite dangerous when one is half asleep. It was inconvenient not to have a loo and some water on the upper (bedroom) floor, as taking water up and down the stairs in a glass or the kettle was a bit dangerous even during the day.

Don’t have room 20. It has a fire door at one side of the bedroom. There is ABSOLUTELY NO INSULATION between the room and the suite next door, where the residents were very noisy, singing and shouting. Fortunately they departed after the first night. The room was pretty dated but that wasn’t important.

If we return to the area, we will definitely stay here again in a different room.

We stayed there recently. Paid £140 as we wanted cancellation.

The positives. The bar/restaurant is very nice and the food for the evening meal was lovely and so were all the staff. The breakfast was nice but if I had to be picky as you didn't know when you were going to get it you had to try and gauge the toast cooking which you had to do yourself and both my poached egg and my husbands fried egg were over.

The negatives The rooms on here and where we booked looked lovely. However the room we got was in desperate need of renovation. The windows needed replacing as they didnt shut properly so we got the fumes and noise of the vehicles on the car park. Which were so close to the room they felt they were in there with you There was a strong smell of damp in the bathroom. The bath inside around the antislip was orange. The paint was cracking on the top in the bathroom and on the window of the room and the toilet was a dark grey colour at the middle and back of the bowl. The carpet and cabinets needed replacing. The room needed a good paint. You expect for £140 for a room you get biscuits, herbal tea and the little extras but all you got were black tea and nescafe coffee. It was more like a £60 to £70 room with £10 per person for breakfast. Very disappointed.

Spent four nights here. Room clean and comfortable although on using the hair dryer it heated up but no fan, got very hot and smoke emanating from it. Obviously not checked when room cleaned. Replacement dryer supplied quickly and without fuss.
Food in restaurant was exceptional but unfortunately service was poor, slow although the staff were constantly apologising. On two or three occasions parts of orders were not forthcoming e.g. ordered toast with poached eggs - no toast after two further requests. One evening ordered two gin and tonics - they never turned up. However on studying our bill on arriving home found an extra bar charge for £9.90 which I assume was for the G&Ts. Should have studied the bill in more detail when checking out. Can't be bothered to chase them up.
Overall I would recommend the hotel but they do need more waiting staff in the restaurant particularly ones with a decent memory.

Had a great experience.
The roast was beautifully packaged in a pizza shaped box so it was all laid out as it would be on your plate.
Easy to lift out straight onto your plate pork and beef full of flavour roast potato very crisp and delicious and accompanied bye a wonderful pureed Swede and pot of meat gravy.
Vegetarian available also
Well priced at £16 so why bother cooking a roast at home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Sunday before Bank Holiday and it was terrific value for money at only £90 for dinner, bed and breakfast. We had a standard room In the courtyard which was more than adequate for our nights stay. The hospitality tray is no longer left out as standard however you can request one and ours was delivered within 5 minutes. The quality of the food was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. The service was friendly and they have good Covid 19 procedures in place.

My Dad has dementia and my Mum rarely gets a break so we snapped up the chance to take them away with this special offer. We were lucky to secure the last remaining rooms which were in the courtyard behind the main building. Clean and comfortable, they clearly had new bathrooms which were appreciated. Hot pipes under our floor made ours incredibly warm but otherwise both rooms were fine. The staff were warm and welcoming and the food deserves special mention. We had intended to try somewhere else for our second night just for a change but the evening meal was so beautifully cooked (fresh seabass for 3 of us, roasted cauliflower dish for myself) and we followed it up with delicious ice cream. We deal included tickets to Blenheim Palace and we all had a wonderful time, exploring Aston Pottery, The Arty Crafty Place (blockprinting) and shopping village while there. Evenings were spent walking around Deddington itself taking in all the quirky buildings, lovely church etc. Highly recommend this hotel for the care and attention of staff, talented chef(s), well presented and delicious food, comfortable rooms and great value. Thank you to Michelle for booking Blenheim for us and making us feel so welcome. We are likely to bring friends on a similar trip.

We stayed here on a Travelzoo deal over winter, just £52 per night including breakfast, as I'd always wanted to visit Blenheim Palace which is nearby. It was well worth it. The room was nice, cottagey almost, and the pub itself is a lovely country pub with an open fire in winter. The food is excellent though expensive. You get a 10% discount as a guest.

There's lots of free parking here and it's a good location for exploring the Cotswolds. The only downside was that the mattress was hard and the wifi was intermittent. But for the price paid, I was very happy and I would visit again.

We recently booked a short hotel break in Deddington Oxfordshire with Expedia who we hadn't used previously.
It was a very good price but, after unpacking we noted a sign telling us NOT to open the window as it was rotten and badly broken, not a good idea during a mini heatwave! Later that day we also realised the bathroom extractor fan didn't work, probably the cause of the black mould around the bath. The room was generally quite shabby.
I would point out that the pub, otherwise, was very nice with deliciously appetising food.

We reported our dissatisfaction to the duty manager straight away but as there was no suitable alternative accommodation he suggested we speak to the Manager the following morning.
With only one more night, we couldn't reach a suitable solution so the Manager, who was very genial, offered not to charge us for an evening meal.
Ending up with such poor holiday accommodation seemed more than bad luck with the Manager pointing out that our Expedia price was cheaper than if we had booked direct with the hotel, the implications being the reason why we had one of the poorer rooms.
Our contract was with Expedia so we sent all the information to what was thought was Expedia UK customer service.
In nearly 60 years of holidaying in the UK, this must be the worst customer service we have even experienced.
First of all they didn't appear to understand my complaint and failed to accept any part in trying to reach a solution. I could go on in volumes about how unhelpful Expedia have been and will never book with them again.

I'm sorry your stay was not all you hoped for but I'm pleased you enjoyed our hospitality and food. All our rooms are regularly re-furbished and major work is planned for this room shortly. Obviously I can't address Expedia's customer service problems but I can assure you that we try to give the best experience possible to our guests regardless of booking agent and rate paid.

We stayed here for our "mini-moon" in the Cotswolds.

We booked the 4 poster bed online back in July direct on their website. When we arrived the woman at reception could not find our booking, she eventually found it but we were not in the 4 poster bedroom, after a call to her boss she managed to move the people who were due to go into that room (they had not yet arrived and did not specifically book the 4 poster bedroom) into another room, freeing up the 4 poster for us, the first drinks at the bar were "on the house" as an apology for the mix up.

The woman at reception was lovely and really went above and beyond, we can't remember her name but she was in duty Tuesday afternoon and we would like to thank her.

The room itself was comfy albeit a little small but perfect for our needs. The window does need an upgrade (it is still an old single glazed window) the surrounding area was quiet and we had a great nights sleep, I can't comment on the noise on friday/Sat evening's as we left on the Friday and it is a pub so I imagine can get busy.

The breakfast was lovely and filling, no complaints there and the food in the restaurant was lovely but bear in mind that it is closed on Tuesdays.

The car park is large and we never struggled to find a space.

Overall we will return if we ever plan to stay in the Cotswolds again.

A hidden gem, with staff the jewel of its crown
You could be forgiven for driving past Deddinton arms without realising it was there. Thanks to the enterprising salesmanship of Nigel the owner it was bursting at the seams .Most seemed to be on one promotion or another. My wife and I were with Travel Zoo 3 night’s b&b for under £55 a night unbeatable value.
All the staff I had the pleasure of meeting were customer and Covid orientated. Michelle was our first point of contact was gregarious full of smiles and advice always took time out to ask how we were, a credit to the Deddinton Arms.
Lynn Front of House Manager was a friendly face after a long drive and came across as genuinely happy to see us calling me by my first name a nice personal touch.
We stayed in room 2 , full of character, natural light and space with a comfy bed to die for.
The cuisine was first class. Locally sourced and prepared fresh with an admirable extensive menu for breakfast. Zoe in the evening and Melanie in the morning were both on Top of their game even though the dining room at times was busy. With a big shout out to the chef as the standard of his fayre was consistently high.
One slight niggle there was no price list for the beers and Ciders on the drinks menu as the prices had changed (increased). As it was, under five pound a pint was reasonable. I also saw Smirnoff vodka at £5.40 for a double I also took as reasonable. When I had the bill it had increased by 50% to £8.00. On further inspection the waitress took it upon herself to give me Grey Goose. While I agree I only said vodka and she should in all fairness not expect to assume I meant the cheapest double. By the same token the waitress should not have assumed I wanted the dearest double.
In summary the Rooms, staff and cuisine are all first class as my title says it all “a hidden gem with staff the jewel of its crown”. Well done to all concerned.
