A good example of a pub in a tourist area,,,,,no need to bother as there will always be a steady supply of customers. The place obviously hasn't been touched for 40 years judging by the signs and decor. No where decent to sit, scruffy staff (albeit polite) and an expensive menu. We won't be back. Oh and what's with the...

Stopped by for an evening drink after a few years away and the first thing that I noticed in the main bar was the overwhelming smell of old cabbage, manky dog whiff and chip fat. I can't begin to list all the things sadly dire about this inn! Sad, very tired, poor and shabby (and not in the 'chic' sense!)...

Despite saying our visit to this Inn was average overall we enjoyed our stay here. The atmosphere was fantastic. A real old fashioned country pub. The bar areas were cosy and inviting even though the carpet was a little dated and worn. But it was a bit like wearing a lovely old pair of favourite slippers. It's main theme is...

Would visit purely for the cider festival. Soo many to choose from so would require multiple trips - never fun one person never being able to drink. Food was great. Such a character to the building. Really cosy and warm :)

Another lovely night at the Castle. Warm welcome to humans and dogs alike. Good food, very accommodating chef and team and a comfy bed for all guests. Great breakfast set us up for the day ahead, next time I will pre-order the smoked haddock and poached eggs, it looked lovely.

Chose The Castle Inn mainly as we had our dog with us, and was a lovely location. First impressions, very dark and cramped bar and dining area, but expected with such an old thatched building. Staff very friendly and welcoming , food adequate , a good selection to choose from and a very relaxed feel, and our dog treated like...

Warm welcome by friendly staff. Nice large bedroom. Piping hot water for a lovely bath. Dog welcome in all areas. Very impressive range of ciders. Delicious food from a good menu. Heavenly waffles for breakfast or other options available.Doggy breakfast too! Two small criticisms; although there was plenty of room in the lounge, it was necessary to read the blackboard...

Arrived mid morning and couldn't get coffee. A wait of around 15 mins just to get two glasses of coke. Well it was flat. Service was rubbish and to be honest it wasn't a pleasant pub. Dark dingy unclean and scruffy staff. Chose not to eat. Won't return.

We stopped for lunch on the way to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. After sampling a cider recommended by the landlord followed by a HUGE jacket potato stuffed full of tuna we would have quite happily stayed for the rest of the afternoon! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the pub is absolutely gorgeous. The car park is on...

What an amazing place! If you are a dog lover or a cider lover or even a food lover this is the place to go! A very homely welcoming pub with fantastic staff. There are two sides to the pub and both are equally lovely. Expect to be stepping over dogs on your way but this isn't a bad thing....
