We were gifted an overnight stay from our daughter and son for a Christmas present to stay at Goldsborough Hall. The package purchased from the Yorkshire Food Guide was a perfect gift idea for us. The package included an afternoon cream tea, dinner tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast.
As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome from all the staff. The communal rooms are large and have a relaxed and comfortable feel with feature fire places. The cream tea was good with homemade scones cream and preserves, afterwards we had a wander around the shops in Harrogate. Our room was very spacious with a large four poster bed, good sized en- suite bathroom with jacuzzi bath. Tea and coffee making facilities.
We were asked to go into the drawing room earlier before dinner where a fire was burning and we relaxed with a pre-dinner drink and some canapes which were delicious. The large dining room had an amazing feature fireplace all beautifully laid out for dinner guests. The tasting menu was very memorable, what an amazing chef we assumed he had a Michelin star! we enjoyed all of it beautifully presented and served by knowledgeable staff. The breakfast was set in the orangery also laid out with white linen tablecloths with everything you could want to eat. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this gift package from the Yorkshire Food Guide.

We had an exceptional stay at Goldsborough and the staff and service could not have been better. We were met at the door and waited in the Drawing room until someone was available to explain the rules, one way system, sanitising etc before giving us our sanitised key in a plastic bag. We stayed in Hutton a beautiful large suite with bath and shower, Molton Brown toiletries.
We had upgraded to the 8 course tasting menu for only £15 which was delicious, we added a bottle of St Emillion to make the day, we ate in the Dining room which was fabulous. Breakfast menus had to be handed in before 8pm, we ate in the Orangery, the room manes were on the tables so the staff knew what to serve you. It was a really good system except for the couple who decided they wanted to sit at another table, got that rooms breakfast and complained. Everyone was trying so hard in these difficult times but there is always someone!
We visited Fountains Abbey first, love walk round the water gardens as well, the grounds at Goldsborough were lovely, we will be back!

Our first visit to Goldsborough Hall and only our second out of lockdown.
Prior to arrival we were briefed by the Hotel on the protocols with regard to COVID 19 and were satisfied that they would provide as safe an environment as is possible in these difficult times.
We had upgraded our room at a modest cost and were highly delighted with it as we were with the rest of the Hall and grounds. The owners have done a fantastic job restoring the building and grounds with 18 guest rooms available.
In the restaurant we had the 6 course taster menu accompanied by a robust New Zealand Pinot Noir. Fine dining indeed.
After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before departing.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience with excellent service throughout our stay.
We will add this hotel to our must visit list.

It is an amazing building but we didn’t feel very welcome when we arrived. This was partly down to Covid but not entirely. There was a sign asking us to ring the door bell and wait but nobody came so we went in and we’re told to sit down in the drawing room and wait as they didn’t want people standing at reception. Finally we were checked in and taken to the room. The room was very clean apart from the toilet which had an unacceptable level of black scum round the rim. We put the kettle on but there was only one teabag so we tried to call down to reception but there were no instructions next to the phone so we had to go to reception to get more. I stood there for some time and the 3 people behind the desk ignored me and when I eventually was asked what I wanted the lady seemed quite annoyed that I had come down. We had to order breakfast the day before which is difficult as you don’t know what you would like and we also had to book a time slot for breakfast. This was a problem as we were on holiday and didn’t know if we would wake up early or enjoy a lie in! We booked for 9 but actually didn’t sleep too well so were awake for 7 but couldnt go down as breakfasts were apparently cooked to order. I ordered the a Ocado and poached eggs which were really poor as the avocado had been liquidised to within an inch of its life and all I could taste was lemon as this would have been added to prevent it going brown as it was not fresh. Also at such a lovely place salt and pepper sachets really cheapen the experience. This was blamed on Covid but as I work in a restaurant I know that it is possible to provide salt cellars as long as they are sanitised. Also rooms weren’t cleaned so after the first night we had to dry ourselves with wet towels which was not good. All in all a beautiful place but it could have been so much better.

my husband and I have just returned from a two night break at this great hotel which we booked to celebrate my husband's birthday.

We bought a voucher from Travelzoo which included two nights bed and breakfast a cream tea and a 5 course tasting dinner (which we should have had on the first night but which it was kindly agreed we could change to the next evening as that was my husband's birthday).

The hotel was very easy to find just off the A1 and the instructions to locate the car park were excellent

Our room (which was equipped with a walk in shower and disabled toilet that we had requested) was absolutely lovely. There were french windows leading out to a patio with table and chairs which unfotunately we were unable to make use of (hope to come back in the summer!!). The bath towels were really big and thick (something I am particularly keen on!)

Every member of staff were so polite, welcoming and helpful, a credit to the hotel.

The cream tea was delicious. The dinner was fantastic - the only down side was that it left us so full up we were unable to manage a cooked breakfast the next day!

My husband voted this as one of the best birthdays he had spent - many thanks to all the staff at Goldsborough Hall for your wonderful service!

We travelled here as the Travel Zoo deal to stay in a garden room, cream tea, dinner and breakfast was irresistible. Our room was charming and comfortable, great bathroom, shower over bath with double sinks and Balis and Harding toiletries. We were given a friendly welcome and quick tour of rooms, library, sitting room and conservatory all were wonderful in historic splendour. We had cream tea in the library and had a drink and canapés in the evening. The dining room was small and intimate but the service was attentive as there were 5 courses and matching wines (if desired). The food was delicious, no choices but if you couldn’t eat an item they would look to change. Whats not to like? I imagine in the summer it would be busy with weddings as ideal for this.

We attend for dinner, bed and breakfast on Monday evening. It was absolutely wonderful! 5 course taster menu was an amazing experience. The bathroom was spotless (although the bin was full in the bathroom from the previous guests - didn't bother us but may bother others). The service was excellent! We had a very peaceful evening and were really impressed with the service and the beautiful surroundings. Would definitely recommend to a friend! Special mention to the female waitress who served us (didn't catch her name brown curly hair), the 2 young male waiters who were very obliging and the lovely lady who looked after us at breakfast time. Very cheerful and professional staff. Thank you!

We were very excited about our first trip to Goldsborough Hall. However, you can tell this place is run ‘economically’ or maybe more geared to weddings and their guests or foodies than people who want a lovely break away.
Low on staff but all lovely,
Energy saving lightbulbs on a sensor in cheap chandeliers (so when you go up the stairs or leave your room it’s dark)
Smelt very strongly of disinfectant or something similar when we were shown to our room
Our room was ‘ok’ - I really wanted to be blown away but I wasn’t. The view outside was better.
We won’t return or recommend. Such a shame to be custodians of such a beautiful building and not pay attention to what you’re doing.

We booked an overnight stay with Travel Zoo at Goldsbrough Hall. It was for a luxury stay with cream tea and taster menu meal included. We paid an extra £10 for a ‘luxury’ room upgrade and to be honest wish we hadn’t bothered. Our room was the hotels disabled room so fitted out with all the assistance bars and emergency pull cords etc. The room didn’t seem that luxurious to us and certainly was no bigger than the standard rooms. It was also dark and dismal and the so called patio outside was nothing more than a walled passageway. On the plus side the hotel was very grand and the gardens lovely. In the restaurant the food was fantastic. We had the five course taster menu and added the chessboard for two with a glass of port and a wine package. The wines were great and the food was as good as anything we have had. The following morning the Yorkshire breakfast was first class. Only comment on the restaurant side was the service was a tad on the slow side.

We visited Goldsborough Hall hotel on a mid week break and forums ourselves pleasantly surprised. We were perfectly welcomed and looked after by Dawn who always seemed to be there for what ever we needed.
We had a garden room which was perfectly pleasant enough, especially with some homemade cookies and a lovely bathroom and little Molton Brown toiletries.
Dinner however was the lasting memory and a real stand out for us and definitely more than we were expecting. We choose the deluxe tasting menu and even after canapés we knew we were in for a treat. Our expectations were exceeded with every course and the service matched the experience - just delicious

Hi is there a level entrance to reception from the car park please ? Thanks :-)
Answer from James M
The level entrance is at the front of the property. You will need to ignore the sign to the carpark and take the second right under the arch to the front of the main property. Many thanks James
