The staff are very friendly and try hard but are run off their feet. One girl covering a large event, the bar and reception. Breakfast was a rather sad affair - a sparse buffet and rather sorry looking poached eggs. Dinner was a mixed bag - great piece of beef but the starter was inedible. Deserts looked pre-made. Beautiful setting -very grand - but all a bit tired. A bucket of cash spent on facilities, upkeep and staff could make this hotel amazing. It is not a bad price for what you get - just could be so much better.

We had hit a load of traffic and ended up arriving tired and fed up (obviously not the fault of the hotel or it's staff) however, when we arrived there was no staff to check us in. We had booked a slot in the spa so was already rushed to get down into the spa area so waiting around with our bags after a long drive was not fun. When staff finally arrived on the desk we were quickly checked in and given the key. We arrived to our room and the bed was all uncovered and towels all over the floor, clearly had not been cleaned. We then had to go back downstairs and wait for the room to be sorted. In the meantime we went to the spa area where staff was talking on the phone and completely ignored us for what felt like ages. When she finally got off the phone we were showed to changing rooms and how to get to the spa area, the changing room has nowhere private to get changed and it was really uncomfortable to get naked in a room where there was no privacy, only after getting changed did I see there was a toilet with a door across from the changing room. The 'spa' was two steam rooms and a shower. It was absolutely freezing in the room. I genuinely can't believe they are charing money to go in there. We spent around 7 minutes in there before getting fed up and leaving. We went back to our room and that's when things were good. The room was lovely, really big and lovely views, we spent a lot of time in there just relaxing from the stressful drive. We did not eat at the hotel because there was a lack of options for our dietry requirements but all around, it was a bit of a let down. This was my birthday weekend and definitely felt tainted by my experience.

Pre- wedding planning communications for the venue was excellent. Had first contact with the wedding planner in January 2022 to arrange a date to view the venue to discuss our winter themed wedding. Our first meeting formed a excellent impression of the operational procedures of the venue, as the wedding planner was professional and they all worked to a high standard with regards to planningThis was to ensure they provided the best service for the customer. We had no concerns that the wedding would not run smoothly as the planning element was excellent. We had many meetings in person and through Zoom to ensure everything was correct. Wedding day- The operational aspect of this run smoothly and the Wedding coordinators were excellent. They ensured everything run to the pre- scheduled plan for the day . They went above and beyond , to ensure everything was excellent and magical for our special day. The venue and staff- The venue is perfect for a winter themed wedding , the images do not show how splendid it is. The staff were friendly and helpful and the environment had a welcoming atmosphere. Food - Excellent, and all the guests commented on the food . Overall- Excellent, no improvements required . Everyone’s comments were positive and everyone enjoyed the wedding.

I found this place and just knew it was the place for me and my friend to celebrate us both turning 40 this year! So i started emailing and Sarah from the Reservations could not have been more helpful to ensure our weekend would be a dream come true. We got back yesterday and the whole weekend was just blew us both away and totally surpased all expectations. The castle itself is like a fairytale and can see why people would chose it as a wedding venue!!! Our room was in the Castle itself, the Hibiscus Suite which was out of this world and so much bigger than expected. The extra touches we'd both arranged had been set out amanzigly we couldn't have asked for better from all the staff in particular Amanda on reception was so welcoming and couldnt do enough for us and all the staff were accommodating from helping us find our way to taking pictures of us during this time of celebration! The food in the evening was fantastic and again the staff were so lovely! We had use of the spa whereby we had massages, mud chamber and thermal suite to use and it was relaxing and so peaceful, it was all just truly sublime - again all staff were so lovely and welcoming! Would highly recommend this venue and spa either as a short break or longer. Thank you for such a fantastic weekend which we made fabulous memories and I shall cherish forever!

Just back from an AMAZING and UNFORGETTABLE weekend away at the Hazelwood Castle. I went with my friend to celebrate us both turning 40 this year. The venue is just out of this world!! We stayed in the Castle in the hibiscus room, which was a lot bigger than we expected, the bed was so comfy and I had such a great nice sleep, the best in 3years in fact!! Amanda on reception was so lovely she just made you feel like you knew her for years and she couldn't do enough for us!! To be fair all of the team were like that especially Sarah from the reservation team and the guys from the reception team as we wanted a few extra things in the room like balloons, processco, flowers etc before we got into our room and they were very happy to assist us with it all. We also used the spa and my massage from Gabrielle was superb, and the mud chamber and thermal suite were lovely and relaxing. It was a weekend I will cherish forever thank you X

Meeting up with some old colleagues for a dinner and over night stay. Room was fine and we enjoyed a pleasant dinner. Unfortunately breakfast was a disaster the next morning. We only discovered there had no milk when trying to find it for cereals. We were told there was no milk as they had run out. So no cereals and only enough milk on the table for one. By now guests we’re hunting down milk jugs on other tables to try and find some milk. Appeared to be very short staffed. The cooked breakfast was one of the worst we’ve had for a long time. Luke warm, dry mushrooms cheap sausage and solid eggs. I asked at reception if there was going to be a reduction in our bill due to the breakfast. Was told we’d prepaid so no refund was possible. I pointed out that we had only paid a deposit. Was informed that they would have to speak to the manager. So waited five minutes and was told that no adjustment was to be made. I gave up at that point. Was told that I would have to write in to complain. So that is what I will do. Spoilt what could have been a pleasant stay. I understand mistakes can happen but the way you deal with your guests is so important. No apologies just lump it and pay up. Not great customer service.

I would definitely recommend Hazlewood Castle & Spa because every aspect was great. We stayed here for my birthday. We were upgraded to Jasmine a four poster bedroom. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The three course set menu had good choices and was delicious.

We are a group of 6 friends who had a spa trip and overnight stay package. The treatments were excellent and the massages were really good. The spa area itself is a little small and lacking in space for just chilling out, however this is more than made up by the friendliness and level of service from the hotel staff who could not have done anymore for us. We were treated like VIP guests with fires lit and maintained for us in the lounge, our Prosecco ready for us after a walk around the grounds. The food was excellent but fire us the absolute star was Hicham who not only upgraded our rooms to suites for which we were overjoyed, his sense of humour and professionalism was second to none. Thankyou for ensuring we had such a memorable and wonderful time

I'm sure as a wedding venue in the Summer it could be good, but for business travel not good. Wanted a tenner for the sauna (Thermal Suite not included). A bit austere and dated but could say that is in keeping with a castle. The worst bit was realising on check out that not only was the standard lager £6.50 a pint but was charged 65p for someone to bring it 5 paces to your seat! This crazy charge was not pointed out at the time as allegedly it should be. Extortionate and bang out of order! Won't be going again.
