This was the bathroom at this travelodge, staff we're very apologetic, but, as it is an older travelodge they do not have walk in showers.
This should be made clear when booking.

Well, all I can say is it is basic. If you want Wifi you have to pay !! in this day and age, it is mostly free, if you need wifi, you have to go on to the web site (how?) and pay £3.00 for 24 hours (first half hour free!) But if you want to know anything local, ask Jackie, she is a mine of information, she was the local knowledge of places to eat, where not to go, where to go and as for info about directions...…. second to none. if you want breakfast, Starbucks is next door and they do a mean bacon or sausage bap, get in early though, the coffee at travel lodge was awful but Starbucks made up for that. have fun with the road, just be careful with the speed of traffic. Above all, seek out Jackie and she will set you right. A good stay over all.

Hotel is well off the road, so little traffic noise. Next door to a small garden center with animal exhibits, so if you sleep with the windows open, you get awakened in the morning by chickens and sheep. Not too close, so not very loud. Just enough to be fun.

Staff is always ready to help with the usual requests, like extra towels, a hair dryer, wifi instructions, etc, but they go beyond that to just really friendly.

The location is right off the M53 and on the A41, so getting anywhere on the Wirral is pretty simple with decent navigation software. Eastham has basic shopping (Tesco Express, Aldi) and plenty of places to eat. More extensive shopping is available in Cheshire Oaks.

The Travelodge Eastham, although right on a main road is a very quiet and comfortable hotel with clean comfortable accommodation. When I arrived the lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful and equally the one when I left. Although I didn't ask for anything I'm sure help would have been given had I needed it.

When checking in at Travelodge Eastham we noticed a bad smell in the reception area and also in corridors on the way to our room.

On walking into our bedroom we were met with this overpowering foul smell. As we could not sleep in a room with this obnoxious smell we walked out and stayed instead in a local Premier Inn.

I contacted Travelodge Executive office by email, as they only seem to have a premium rate phone line for customer complaints. Their response was unbelievable accusing me of ignoring help offered by the Travelodge Eastham staff and that no-one else had complained about the smell that day – there was no help offered, in fact our departure was laughed off. Also a subsequent online search of this Travelodge shows the bad smell is an ongoing issue!

For almost 50 years we have stayed in many hotels and we have never had to walk out.

We are sure there are some good Travelodges around however this one should definitely to be avoided.

Additionally after I sent the email to Travelodge I was blocked from leaving a review on their website for this location!

Further update - after three emails to the executive office I eventually received a full refund however this does not change my overall review rating.

We stayed at this "hotel" to be close to the ferry after a trip to Warner bros studios. After spending 6 hours driving through road works and accidents we arrived very tired at 2130. Not put off by the initial building hidden behind bushes and bins behind a Starbucks, or the prison reception, or even the stained and faded carpet, peeling paint corridor to the room. Once in the room the horror really hit home. The smell of damp and must was very over powering. There was damp around the window and on the ceiling corners of the faded and stained stippled ceiling. The carpet felt sticky and damp. If it hadn't been so late and the kids so tired we would have left immediately. As it was we smiled and ignored it for sake of the kids but discovered bathroom was an equal atrocity. To be fair the sheets were clean and we were all so tired we went to bed, considering the smell of damp and
the constant whirring of a nearby fan (I assume it was a fan) we all slept. We awoke to see the full extent of this 1990 cheap abandoned old people's home to its full glory. And all that for £25 more per night than a lovely clean holiday inn we had stayed in St Albans. AVOID!

As a family we are all for having a place just to sleep to enjoy the local area. Please do not waste any money at all as the £50 room rate, per room per night for 2 adults and 2 children, was far too insulting !
You should be paid to sleep on those awful beds.. it really was a shame to leave so early and feel so tired. I have and would never leave a bad review but this is no care or thought for any client or customer, you would not leave home and your own bed and pay for this even desperate to get away after covid restrictions !
We felt sorry for any businesses that are paying for their employees that are staying here it deserves nil points !
Sorry Travel lodge first and last time...,,

Stay here quite often due to work, always look forward to a warm welcome from Helen on reception. She always points me in the direction of a good local takeaway which is greatly received after long day at work and nothing is too much trouble for her. Rooms are great, spacious and clean. Fantastic little hotel great location and the hotel manager Denise always allocates me a nice quiet room which is also greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend this hotel for business or leisure as in a great location too.

Arrived at a pot hole filled car park outside Starbucks, rooms very tired the bathroom had a horrible smell it would have been the shower curtain having worked in a premier inn before. It had orange stains behind the taps of the bath that’s body fat which makes it go this colour the mastic around the bath was also mouldy .
I know it’s not the most expensive place to stay but you really do need to improve basic standards, we stayed in room 29 backing onto a caravan park no noise but the room felt cold on arrival not very inviting.
We had a coffee at Starbucks in the morning stale pastries and can’t be bothered staff not even a merry Christmas or happy new year shame would have spent more money on something else.

Travelodges tend to fit into two categories - modern ones in town and city centres with magnetic key cards, or older, roadside ones next to what used to be Little Chefs with an actual physical key to get you into the room. This place fitted into the second category and was a perfectly okay place to spend the night. The Little Chef is now a Starbucks and was open 6am to 8pm, meaning that there was a reasonably-good breakfast with coffee available in the morning as well as evening snacking options. The room was clean with a fan and a nice view of some woodland at the back of the site, and the staff were all helpful and friendly. For £34, it was great, with Cheshire Oaks, Chester and Liverpool all within easy travelling distance just off the M53.

Hot water/electric went off whilst staying here last night, so couldn’t have a shower.

Checked out 1 night early as didn’t want to experience this again.

Lady on reception was very nice & advised to email customer services but they were quite unhelpful and refused a full refund.

Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Dave C asked a question Jan 2018
any traffic noise outside?
Answer from abbie342
Chester-le-Street, United Kingdom
I'm a very light sleeper and I couldn't hear any noise at all but as stated it is set quite far back from the main road hence why we drove straight past it when looking for it 🙄

Does this hotel have free parking?
Answer from Julian W

Yes, the hotel is behind a Starbucks restaurant off the main road. Parking is here, some belongs to Travelodge and some to Starbucks. Plenty of parking and it is safe and free.
