Nice and modern hotel with big rooms with two seperate (did not find one big bed) beds, big shower room, nespresso coffe, air condition but with uncomfortable quilts in the beds. You got 1000 JPY to buy for at the hotel area if you didnt want cleaning, nice environmental aspect. We stayed here in the first week of jan.

The bech was really nice, about 20-22 degrees in the ocean and 23 in the air and very nice staff at the Beach station that offered beach watch/guard and several different ocean activities. The sunset was beautiful and the ocean water so clean. Good sun beds.

Free shuttle bus from airport and about 1.500 JPY, 20 min, taxi ride to the small city of Ishigaki.

The food was really nice, both breakfast and dinner buffet. The dinner buffet was somewhat expensive. 5500 JPY.

Generally very friendly staff and plenty of staff working there

The bad aspects that lowers the overall grading down to almost 3/5 was that the pool area and the pool bar was closed even though the weather was nice. Also, 3 out of 5 restaurants was closed giving less options for eating! This was low season, but not reason enough for closing the pool area. The experience would have been so much better with open pool and pool bar.

We could get late check out but to a price of 2000 JPY per hour (!), you might have thought that could have been free because of the low season and the low amount of guests.

All over the hotel the english translations was limited and another facilty you thought should have existed but didnt was training facilities.

Overall a nice place on a really nice location with some important service aspects to improve.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying at FUSAKI BEACH RESORT. We appreciate you taking the time to write to us. We hope that you enjoyed a spacious shower room and coffee machine. The “Skip Plan,” which does not require cleaning, which is a part of the eco-friendly activities, gives thanks for your support and gives you a ticket that can be used at the hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed the view from the hotel, the beach activities and the food at ISHIGAKI BOLD KITCHEN. Your warm remarks are sincerely appreciated and further encourage the exceptional service and quality at our hotel. We apologize for the fact that the pool area and the outdoor restaurants and bars is closed. Closed during the winter, taking into account the safety aspects of the guests and staff. Please hope your understanding. Around May of this year, restaurants and public baths will be opened, and in autumn, a new rooms will be opened. In addition, you will be able to enjoy your stay at our hotel. We did not provide enough information in English, which caused inconvenience to our guests. I am a foreign resident of Japan for over 20 years. Most venerable Japanese hotel chains or local independent hotels seem to aim for the lowest common denominator. They provide an acceptable level of quality for the budget traveler or families with kids. They do not provide any luxury or a wow factor.

Fusaki is different and is really an international class resort. The beach is lovely. The pool area is directly on the beach, quite large, well designed including the lighting at night and has plenty of cabanas and lounge chairs. One thing I appreciate that you do not see in Japan is a bar next to the pool. So you can actually enjoy a drink at the pool -- and not just Asahi Super Dry. You can have actual cocktails, wine, or craft beer. There is also a cafe next to the pool and you can have your meal at the pool. I also like that they have a pool designed for kids at the far end, so if you want to stay away from the kids you can just stay near the bar.

For a rainy day, they have a wellness center with a large indoor pool, gym, Japanese style hot bath, and spa.

The general services are really good such as food, strong wifi, resort transport (free shuttle from the airport), shops inside the resort, self-service laundry facilities, etc.

Really enjoyed the pool and beach areas, especially the kids pool area - perfect for my 8 and 4 year old boys. Everything at the resort is nice, staff is friendly, very clean, has good amenities. But the restaurant situation there is not good. Soon after checking in for a 3 night stay, we tried to make a reservation for the BBQ restaurant on the beach and were told it was fully booked that night and the next 2 nights as well. Other restaurants on the premise - same thing. The breakfast area had a line out the door every morning too. Lunch options aren't very good either and the poolside bar no longer serves food. Best to plan on going off the resort for most meals.

The most beautiful and relaxing way to end our 15-day trip to Japan after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Kyoto. The resort was absolutely pristine, peaceful, and luxurious despite it being a predominately family-friendly resort w young children. We traveled with two children ourselves and the amenities were top-notch, including 3 pools, a water park and indoor pool w slide. The kids (and parents) enjoyed our water play time immensely as a family. The pool rules were a bit rigid for our standards and liking, but in the end they took safety very seriously. The only thing we didn’t care for was the BBQ Grill restaurant and it’s all you can eat gimmick; all the food came out all at once, it was overpriced and it wasn’t explained to us very well to know that we should’ve opted for the a la carte menu instead. That being said, it can be a little difficult and frustrating for those who speak English; there were a few things related to our food experience that was lost in translation and thus we overspent a couple times w/o realizing what we were actually ordering. Finally the amenities were great, including the incredible loungewear that was provided for each person in the rooms. In fact we’re trying to purchase some sets for the family! All in all, it was a great experience that we will remember fondly.

Very difficult for foreign tourists (very few) to get information in English, only one person was able to help us properly.
We were there during the passage of Typhoon Khanun, we received ZERO information from the hotel. They just provided a TV in the lobby that showed local weather.
When booking, we requested a room near the pool. Big disappointment when we arrived since our room was located in the furthest bungalow at the end of the resort. The room was very dated, the bedding from another era and the decor outdated. The bathroom looked like a shower cabin in a caravan !
For the meals, it was always a hassle: the hotel asks to reserve the restaurants in advance. The problem is that it is supposedly full every time ! But if you go to the restaurant without a reservation, half of the tables are free, but not cleared. In the morning at breakfast, you always have to queue for a very long time before getting a table. We have already traveled extensively in many countries, this is the first time that we have seen such a lack of organization in a hotel.
The Fusaki Beach Resort really does not have 5 stars, it deserves at most 3 stars. Due to the typhoon, our return flight to Tokyo was canceled twice, so we had to find other accommodation for another 3 nights. We booked at the ANA Intercontinental hotel, which really deserves its 5 stars, and for a lower price than the FUSAKI!!!
A good advice, if you are not a Japanese tourist, go your way…

Dear guests, Thank you for staying at the FUSAKI BEACH RESORT HOTEL & VILLAS, and also thank you for the comment about your experience. My sincere apology for you have experienced a difficult time with communication and restaurant booking. In this particular of event for the typhoon, our resort facilities has limited operation hours for security purposes. We provide some useful information for our guests to know what is current weather situation and the airport flight schedule (when its open), and in general we have added a QR code hotel information which has an extra information for the resort and some timely events, the QR code can read from your device and can read with your phones default language setting. For the restaurant bookings we recommend every guests to book their restaurant since our resort is running a high occupancy in this busy summer time. For the breakfast we open 2 restaurants to cover our guests breakfast, unfortunately we still have queues occur in the busy time (8:30 onwards), we also installed queue system that our guest is able to put on queue without physically wait on the line. Although, we are trying to accommodate all the guest requests for room assignment, sometimes it is very difficult to accommodate all the guests requests. Moving forward, we will assure that we add more visible multilingual information in the public areas, and more efficient operation for the restaurant bookings. We look forward to seeing you again. Sincerely, Manager

High quality resort with great amenities. Fantastic terraced pool, brilliant children splash park, direct beach access with water activities. Carefully and continuously guarded pool and beach. Wonderful (and COVID safe) breakfast. Currently only 2 on site restaurants but plenty of options in Ishigaki at only 10-15 mins by taxi.

Beautiful resort, great for wheelchair user! Excellent! Every corner of the places in the resort can be accessed by wheelchair. Except for the small hill to the swimming pool/restaurant/shop, which requires somebody else to push. (My husband using manual wheelchair) no problem I guess for powered wheelchair. Ramps, lift, disability toilets all located everywhere. Amazing! Accessible rooms are available for all types of rooms. Awesome! Can’t express how good this place was in writing.
BIG swimming pool, raining outside? No worries, head to indoor pool. White sandy beaches, beautiful sea. Many activities for kids. The whole area was good. Good hospitality from the check in time till check out. Spacious & airy room. They even have night swimming!
Buffet breakfast were good. 2 places to go for the buffets.
We were there for the autumn break back in the 2021.
The hotel convenience store are reasonably priced.
Definitely will be back whenever we are back to Ishigaki again.

Netherless to say our resort is build for everyone to enjoy their Okinawan beach resort experience. I hope you had a chance to see the most beautiful sunset in Ishigaki island from our Angel pier? This hotel has been completely modernized to a high standard. It is one of the only hotels I have stayed at in Japan which manages to sort of create the atmosphere you might find in a South East Asian resort. The staff were all very friendly. The huge beach is beautiful. The pool is very large and the kids water park excellent. Do not miss the indoor pool and especially the public bath if you go in summer. There is excellent WiFi throughout the resort. There are many restaurants a short distance away - our favourite was Funakura no Sato. I would definitely stay here again.

NB We went in July 2020 when covid-19 restrictions were still in place and the hotel had more than adequate rules to cope with this. The hotel itself was only at around 30% occupancy which made it a very enjoyable and peaceful place to stay - it may be different in normal times.

This resort is a real mixed bag. The grill dinner was horrendous but the Japanese restaurant was very decent. Rooms are basic, facilities are ok. The main reason I wanted to review was the breakfast. We have never been to a breakfast restaurant where you have to wait. And it was a 20 minute wait. Utterly absurd and very offputting. On balance, we would not stay here again.

Having decided on Japan for our honeymoon, my wife and I decided that it would be nice to spend a few days at the beginning of what would be 3 weeks of mostly city sightseeing, somewhere relaxed and sunny.

In order to try and guarantee good weather, we aimed as far south as we could and settled on Ishigaki and the Fusaki Beach resort.

Knowing that the further from mainland Japan we were, the more difficult the language barrier may become and as most of the existing reviews were in Japanese, I was a little apprehensive of what to expect, but we needn't have worried, as the resort turned out to be exactly what we hoped for.

After a 20-25 minute car journey from the airport, we arrived early evening to be greeted by friendly staff, who promptly checked us in and showed us to our room. Set around a pretty flower-fringed lawn a few minutes work from the beach, the room was clean, spacious and air-conditioned.

To our relief, some of the staff spoke a little English and one member of staff (who's name I forgot to take) spoke perfect English and assisted us for the 4 days that we were there, helping us to book a trip to Iriomote Island, to make a dinner reservation at a local restaurant and supplying us with a Wi-Fi router for our room.

The facilities were great, with the resort opening out onto its own stretch of beach, with a pool also available for those who don't want to venture into the sea. Additionally, the hotel also hires snorkelling equipment and organises water-sports and snorkelling trips, if the water is calm enough; something we missed out on, due to the imminent arrival of tropical storm Phanfone on our last day!

Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard, and there were a few evening meal options, of which we sampled a set menu in the Japanese restaurant (with an English speaking waitress who helpfully explained what each of the dishes were) and the beachside BBQ, which was fun wait to eat. It is probably fair to say that whilst good, the evening meals were a little pricey, but that it fairly standard for a hotel or resort, particularly as you are somewhat of a captive audience, which brings me on to transport.

I would very much recommend hiring a car to explore the island, as the resort is about 15 minutes drive from the town centre and it saves having to rely on buses or taxis, the former of which seemed to be a bit thin on the ground. The roads on the island are very quiet and driving is easy, but book car hire in advance, as it is significantly cheaper and whilst Tourist Information at the airport will book cars for you and speak fluent English, the staff at the collection point don't.

All in all, the rooms are reasonably priced, the resort is sufficiently quiet and secluded, whilst being only a short journey from the city and on-site, has all the amenities that you could want. My only minor gripe being that the bars on-site close at 10, with last-orders at 9,30, which is a little early by Western or even Tokyo standards, but as it is largely a family-orientated resort, I guess it is to be expected.

A world away from Tokyo, beautiful Ishigaki probably has more the feel of a pacific island, than part of Japan and we wished we could have stayed longer. There are more expensive hotels on the island, but we found Fusaki to be ideal for our needs, giving us the relaxing few days away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland, that we had hoped for and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I would highly recommend both the island and the resort.
