Room: We booked one deluxe twin room for 4pax and was pleasantly surprised to find 4 beds provided. The room is very spacious (by Japanese standards) and furnitures were decently spaced w/o making it cumbersome for 4 adults to move around within the same space. The beds were also very comfortable. The only downside was the toilet which was tiny and old.

Location: Conveniently located within 5-mins walk to the ferry and bus terminal. There's a Family mart located right across the street and the many restaurants/shops located within the hotel's vicinity. It takes approx 30mins by car from the hotel to various spots (e.g. Kabira Bay, Airport etc.)

Service: The service staff were polite and helpful. We were a little surprised that we had to surrender our room and car keys (note: parking on site is available at a fee) whenever we left the hotel or returned, respectively.

Generally it isn't easy to book hotels in Japan as a foreigner who don't speak and can read Japanese.

It is even more difficult on the Okinawa island as even this Japanese Prefectzure was USA till 1972.

The Chisun Resort was one of a few with english homepage as they belong Solare hotels which is interested to get international guests as well! They replied quite fast to my emails and the rates were on the lower limit. Ask for the lowest possible rate (they didn't tell me in the beginning that 2 people even fit to a semi-double room which was 12600 JPY for two incl. BF)

The hotel and the rooms are basic. However the A/C was working fine and silent enough to keep it switched on even at night which is essential on a tropical island. Our semi-double consist of 1 1,20m bed, TV, Bathroom (wet-cabin), fridge and wardrobe. Locking system of the doors a key you need to return when leaving the hotel.

The hotel is called "resort" because of its "Spa" in the cellar. There is a japanese Onsen and Sauna. We used this everyday instead of the room bathroom.

Breakfast was both western and Japanese, nothing to complain, american coffee.

The real advantage which makes this hotel a real find is the location next to bus terminal and ferry station to Taiwan and other islands. Various restaurants are just around!

I give this hotel an "above average" because of it's value, the Onsen and Sauna which none of the neighbour hotel has!!

Restaurants are generally relatively cheap on Ishigaki. We never paid more than 30 EUR for a full meal for two with beer, fish, salad. Some local family restaurants (noodle soup) even make it for 15 EUR for two incl. beer and dessert. Also 1 Asian restaurant (Indian, Thai, Vietnam) is available.

In a nutshell: we enjoyed this beautiful island for 5 nights in this hotel very much and can only recommend this hotel for guest looking for a value-priced hotel and spend most of time at the beach, dining and shopping

Restaurant TIP: go to the restaurant on top of bus-terminal office. The cook speaks well english and the food is excellent!!

Located right in the heart of city centre:
- 5 mins walk to both the ferry terminal and bus terminal
- several restaurants and/ or watering holes within 500m radius
- Convenience store right across the road
- Japan Post branch right down the street (they have an ATM machine that accepts foreign debit cards)

Hotel can look somewhat dated but the bed is comfortable and the room size is decent for Japanese standards. The breakfast spread is varied.

Value for money.

hotel room is very old, good location but u can definitely find something better nearby with the same price range. Breakfast is ok, not too much choices but enough to get through. Worth to mention is that they have free shuttle to the airport, but only 4 times a day and last one is 3pm (if I remember correctly)........................

Gran View Ishigaki is located in the perfect part of the city. It is across the street from the water's edge, and a five minute walk to the ferry terminal and bus terminal.

From the airport you can take the airport city bus to the bus terminal and walk to the hotel. I made the mistake of hopping into a cab right away which cost about USD$40. The bus is only about $5.

The hotel itself is a bit older, but everything is very clean and well maintained. Service is very friendly and efficient, as can be found everywhere in Japan. Rooms are of a good size and all of the amenities are there. There is also an ofuro (public bath) in the basement of the hotel, which is a nice place to go and relax after a long day out in the beautiful islands.

Shopping and restaurants are all right outside the door, so you do not have to go far to find anything. Oh and there is coin operated washers and dryers for your laundry too!! Bonus for travelling!!! And there was even a box of free laundry soap to use!

Would I stay here again? Having been here once, yes, I would again. It has everything I need and a great location!

We stayed in a standard twin room on the top floor with a nice view of the harbor. The location was excellent, close to the harbour and the bus terminal. The room was nice and spacious and we were not disturbed by any noise from the other rooms or the corridor. The breakfast buffet was not more average.

Very nice stay and excellent value once we have changed rooms.
we were first given a smoking room in the lower floors. The smell was too strong that we ask to change. Instead of the regular business hotel room that we had (with a nice view on the arbor), we were given a non-smocking renewed room on the upper floor, it was really nice. The view was even better, the renewal has been made with taste and lightness and as good as any big chain western hotel. The service is really OK and the free breakfast buffet is fairly good. All for 8000Y for two.

Room Tip: Ask for a renewed room, if not it is just a normal business hotel as there are so many in Japan.

The hotel is located less than five minutes on foot from the bus and ferry terminals, the public market, and the post office (which has an ATM that accepts foreign cards).

Although everything worked out just fine in the long run, we had two small problems: none of the hotel staff spoke any English (we managed adequately with body language and a Japanese phrase book), and there was confusion over whether breakfast was included, despite the fact that when we reserved with Expedia, a complimentary breakfast was noted on the website and over the telephone, but not on our confirmation slip.

The breakfast was one of the best that we have ever had at a hotel --- it featured a large selection of mostly Japanese items, many of which changed daily. Although the staff didn't speak English, they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Everything worked as it was supposed to.

"Semidouble" beds are about halfway between a single and a double --- OK for two small adults who don't kick around much in the night. Rooms featuring one of these beds, despite confusing information on the hotel website, are indeed available for couples, and they are a great value for the money, although on the small side. The only bed cover is a fairly heavy comforter, and to make that work, the air conditioner has to be cranked up moderately high. Unfortunately, nonsmoking rooms are no insurance against smoke in the hallways....

When I came here about two years ago, construction had started and I wondered when it would open, but it finally opened. I think new hotels are attractive. Hotels in Fukuoka and Naha prioritize convenience by being close to the airport and tend to feel a bit cramped, but this is a city hotel with a large public bath. The rooms are reasonably spacious and are cleaned every day. On the other hand, amenities are scarce, so I recommend bringing towels and toothbrushes with you. Breakfast is simple but not bad.

Facing the 730 intersection, this hotel has just reopened in July 2023, with all rooms offering ocean views.
It is close to the Yaeyama Remote Island Terminal and Euglena Mall, making it convenient for shopping, dining out, and sightseeing.
The views from the rooms on the top 10th floor are amazing. You can see the ferries coming in and out of the remote island terminal, as well as the luxury cruise ships that arrive every Saturday.
There is a small bath, but unfortunately there is no pool, and there is no place to relax outside the rooms, such as a lobby lounge or observation lounge.
