We stayed here as a couple in January 2020. Our room was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We liked the location close to the port and across the road from a very nice French Bakery.
We were given the choice as to how much cleaning and changing of linen we felt was needed during our stay. If we chose not to have some the services (which we did) we could earn points to 'spend' in the hotel on our departure. We liked this environmentally conscious option.
The staff were all polite, friendly and very helpful.
A variety of hot drinks were available from the reception, including a wide range of herbal teas (no fees required).
A wide range of foods were available at breakfast.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would comfortably come here again.

Rooms and bed on the small side. Breakfast buffet was wonderful and location was just a hop away from the town center. Staff speaks some english and are all very nice and accommodating. Booked a tour through them as well. I highly recommend.

The hotel's location is great for those who wish to explore downtown Ishigaki and the surrounding islands. Shopping, restaurants, and the ferry terminal are all within reasonable walking distance...a plus for us since we wanted to explore Taketomi and Iriomote islands while in Ishigaki. The staff was very courteous and helpful and assisted us in obtaining a rental car for part of our stay, which was brought to us at the hotel. What service! The rental gave us the freedom to explore the rest of Ishigaki at our own pace without relying on tours or public transportation.

The hotel staff was extremely pleasant and very accommodating...we asked for extra pillows and they were brought up to our room immediately. They held our bags for us when we arrived before the check in time and again after we checked out, allowing us a little extra time to explore Ishigaki before our plane departed.

The hotel was extremely clean and the twin beds are larger than the standard American twin bed. We stayed in a triple room and the room size was adequate and actually larger than expected. The beds were firm, more than we prefer, but that is a personal preference. The bathrooms were modern and clean but smaller than we are used to in the U.S. There was also a small refrigerator in the room. The breakfast buffet served daily from 7 to 9 offered a variety of Japanese breakfast items, including tea, coffee and juices. If you miss the breakfast buffet there is a wonderful little French bakery just across the street. There is a nice sized area with tables and chairs at the front of the hotel and another nice room at the back with seating and tables (including a massage chair). My husband used this room a few times to connect to WiFi so he could do some work while here. The furnishings throughout are simple yet tasteful and lend to the airy atmosphere of this quaint hotel.

In short, we would definitely stay at Hotel Patina again if we return to Ishigaki with the purpose of exploring the other islands. The location, price, cleanliness and impeccable service was outstanding! We will also recommend this hotel to our friends traveling from Okinawa-honto to Ishigaki. However, if you want to laze on beaches you may want to choose a beach resort with a pool.

One last note- a tip for English speaking travelers- stop by the ferry terminal and pick up the free English maps of Ishigaki and the other islands! The Yaeyama Islands are beautiful and well worth the effort to visit! I thought Okinawa-honto was beautiful but it doesn't hold a candle to the serene Yaeyama islands!

We were looking for a base for our 5 nights in Ishigaki and looked at all the options, using points for the Intercontinental, no...what about a resort, no they are too far from anything and wanted the option of walking to different areas. We then came upon this small hotel and even if it looked like not the accommodation we would usually choose, the location and several good reports swayed our decision, and Im glad it did.

We picked a car up and after a slow drive to the hotel we parked along the side which the hotel has limited spaces. Warm welcome from staff at the reception, we were then given details for the air-con and a list of services if you did not want to use, ie. Not have bathroom amenities replenished, or bed not changed each day, and you would accrue points to exchange for snacks, which I thought was a good idea, but I kept forgetting to fill it in.

We had booked a twin room after checking the sizes of the rooms on line, but expected (and it was) a bijou room. The room itself is basic but with everything you need, but you have to do a lot of juggling with luggage as there are no wardrobes only a small amount of hanging space. Thankfully we were given a room on the 3rd floor on the corner with 2 sets of windows which had a small balcony which came in very useful with views of the sea, more of that later. A fridge, kettle and so on and the bathroom again was a ships cabin type was the smallest I have ever used anywhere in Japan, but boy that small shower packs a punch! But the extras that this hotel thinks of really help not only shampoo, conditioner and other products but sunscreen and plenty of other items you may run out of.

The beds were very comfy and firm with good pillows, which we had asked for extra ones. Both the room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean, as was the whole hotel and really housekeeping should be commended for this.

Breakfast was fine with the selection of dishes changing each day, and again the staffs were always friendly and cheerful.

Thankfully, and which was a godsend to us due to the heat and many changes of clothes, there are washing machines (3) to use at no cost, also dryers are available but to be honest it would take an age to dry clothes in them (cost 300yen 30 mins) they even provide washing powder and a choice of 4 different fabric softener (ask at the desk for it) to choose from again at no charge. In the laundry room there was also a selection of hangers, pegs wash bags etc for guest use as you can hang you washing on the balcony as the hotel has provided washing rails.....and also became our evening 'standing bar' to watch the sun go down!

There is a relaxing room with 2 PCs for guest use which again I found very handy, drinking water, iced tea and coffee were always available, but really some guests take no notice of the hotel asking politely to not fill up drinks containers/flasks with those complimentary drinks to take away.

You can also borrow bikes for up to 6 hours at a time, and if your thinking of going over to the smaller islands you can take these on the ferry for a small charge, to ride around. Whilst I was not exactly thinking of doing a lot of riding they are a tad bone shakers but we did manage over an hour until we became a sweaty saddle-sore mess in the 35dg heat! Good fun though.

The hotel is conveniently situated for the center to get out and about as well as the ferry terminal, there is a bakery right over the road and a Lawsons store just round the corner, next to a well stocked drugstore.

What I will say those small extras that this hotel provide for guests to make the stay more enjoyable, but please be aware the one side of the hotel does face the next door building which is only feet away so those rooms would be very dark with no view at all. Also as the room electricity is activated with your room key and I can understand they don’t want air-con left on all day, each time you remove the key, as the fridge is on the same circuit cutting the electricity off then rendering the fridge useless all day until you return and anything in there will become warm.

For a value hotel I would stay here again if I was to visit Ishigaki.

Hotel Patina Ishigakijima, is located about 10 minute easy walk from the bus station. It makes a good base for touring the area. This hotel is clean, quiet, cheerful and family friendly. The beds are a bit hard, but after asking for a second pillow much more comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered quite a variety for a small, budget hotel. The staff spoke some English so they were able to help with any questions we had. Many shops and restaurants were only a short walk away. We would definately choose this hotel if we were in the area again.

We stayed here for one night en-route from Iriomote-jima to Ishigaki airport. In retrospect, we wished we'd stayed here longer and less time at some of the other places we stayed on the islands.

It's a great location - about 2 mins walk to the port (where you can catch ferries to all the islands) and 5 mins to the city centre.

Also, the receptionists were all very friendly and helpful.

The only negative thing I have to say about this hotel is that I found my pillow a bit hard!

Stayed there for 2 nights during our first visit at Ishigaki, it's just 10 mins walk from the bus stop in front of the ferry pier which means you are also just 10 mins walk away from the town centre. They offer a wide variety of food & drinks for breakfast and give you a truly good start of the day.
The staff at the reception are also very helpful but pls understand some of them just speak limited English. The size of the bed is a little bit too small but i would still recommend them to all those who plan to visit Ishigaki :)

Hotel Patina is a boutique hotel near the town center of Ishigaki. As a two star hotel, it has everything you can expect, low price, small room, shower, self-service laundry, breakfast, etc. You can even rent a bike outside at the hotel.

It also provide free-parking, since most people visiting Ishigaki are driving, this feature of the hotel makes our lives as tourists easier.

Overall, the stay in Patina is pleasant and there is nothing to be complained of.

Hotel Patina is located within a reasonable walking distance of the Ishigaki port and bus terminal, although it is a bit of a hike with luggage. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The people on duty while I was there did not speak much English, but they tried hard and we managed. I needed to shorten my reservation on short notice due to inclement weather, and the hotel was accommodating. (The booking website was not as helpful, but that's not Patina's fault. They did help connect me to an English-speaking customer service rep, which was kind!)

They offer breakfast with a lot of variety, so I was able to have my western cereal while easing into more traditional Japanese breakfast items. (Which were good!) The breakfast seating area, enclosed patio, and guest lounge were all very nice--tropical and airy. They have free wifi throughout the building as well as a few computers in the lounge area. The bikes they loan out are in good shape, but single speed. Something to keep in mind if you're thinking of biking to a beach. (You can do it, but it was a loooong trip back.) They do have free washing machines and soap, which I wish I'd realized in time to use them!

The rooms were small, as expected, but very clean and with nice furniture. The bathroom was the standard tiny size that I found throughout Japan, but the toiletries Patina provides were top notch. I'd read that the air conditioning was coin-operated, but that thankfully was not the case in my room. The only downside was that the bed was quite hard. I found that to be common in a lot of western-style hotels, though.

Lastly, there isn't much to do or see near the hotel, besides a nice walk across the Southern Gate Bridge. But it's only a few minute's walk or bike ride to the town center, where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Without luggage, it's a quick trip back to the port, where you can take boat tours, sign up for a diving trip, etc.

There are probably slightly cheaper ways to stay on Ishigaki, but if you want a pleasant hotel experience, Hotel Patina is a great choice. I would happily stay there again.

When you arrive in Ishigaki take the airport bus for 520 Yen all the way to the end of the route which is at Ishigaki Port and Bus Terminal. This will save you a lot of cash if travelling alone. The taxi is 2,500 to 2,800 Yen so this is OK if there are several of you or if you have a load of luggage and dive gear. Once in Ishigaki City you can easily find a taxi to take you to your hotel. (The bus takes about 40 minutes and a taxi about 25).
The Patina is a nice place. Welcoming staff on the reception desk speak some English.
The rooms are pretty small by western standards and the bathrooms are even smaller. They are well supplied with all sorts of things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes and pyjamas. The bed was comfy and the room very clean so I would recommend it.
Breakfast was included and was a nice blend of Japanese and western food. They even had bread and croissants. There are a lot of patisseries on the island.
If you want to go out at night there is nothing much beside the hotel but there are several decent restaurants just 5-6 minutes walk away.

Is it close to the pier of Naha?
Thank you for an inquiry. As 7 years old .8 years old is an adult rate, it is 5,500 yen per person. You can sleep with your child in a bed, but you will feel very small. So we recommend you to book two twin rooms. Please contact us if you have any question. contact@patina.in Thank you.
