Detailed Reviews
This was our third visit to West Heath Barn, and we just love it! The moment you walk in and see the freshly baked cake waiting for you, you just feel right at home.
It is always really clean and the beds have lovely clean white sheets on, the towels are fluffy and the under floor heating is such a treat!
It has everything you need, it is so well equipped to make eating in easy and stress free. We also visited the Dabling duck for pizza this time which was really good.
We love the location and the Alpacas are a lovely attraction to keep children entertained.
Great for dogs too, there is a secure area to take your dogs and a nice field to walk around.
We can’t thank Gill and Dave enough for a wonderful week staying in their beautiful Barn.
A hidden gem and we can’t wait to return
Thank you 😊

This is the third time we have visited West Heath Barn, but on this occasion we were in The Dairy. We love this place because it is perfect in every way. The hosts have created a fabulous place for guests to enjoy the many attractions of Norfolk. The cottage is situated in a lovely rural spot which is just a 30 minute drive to the coast and close to so many interesting places. In Great Massingham there is a pub (Dabbling Duck) which serves excellent meals. There is also a local shop with a post office selling lots of everyday items and food.
The cottage is spacious, with two double bedrooms and each with a great ensuite, a separate lounge and kitchen with everything you might need for a short or longer stay! There is even a separate cloakroom too. It is beautifully furnished, spotless and very comfortable. There is a lovely outside space to sit and enjoy the countryside sights and sounds. It was also nice and warm which was appreciated as the weather had just started to change when we were there.
The hosts Gil and Dave welcomed us with a fabulous lemon drizzle cake (made especially as gluten free) which was really kind. There was a bouquet of flowers in the kitchen and milk in the fridge! They have thought of every and nothing is too much bother!
We have already booked our next visit. We highly recommend this place, you'll love it.

I was recommended The Dairy at West Heath Barn by friends who had stayed there in 2023 and had booked to go again this year, and I must say, I'm so pleased they did, it was fabulous! The location and accommodation were perfect and I do usually have a problem with cleanliness when I stay anywhere other than home (mild OCD) but, the cottage was spotless and made me feel 'at home' immediately. The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished also, well equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. Gill and Dave were very welcoming and Friendly, nothing was too much trouble and Gill was great with her local knowledge and recommendations for places to visit. Their dog, Woody, is so happy and friendly and the Alpacas are a delight. My two dogs absolutely loved the enclosed dog area and because we dropped luck with the weather, they were able to spend quite a bit of time in there when we returned from our days out, while we relaxed on the picnic bench with a drink or two. I was holidaying with my parents who, due to health problems, need accommodation without steps/stairs, The Dairy was perfect for us with all of the facilities being on one level, no steps to access it and both bedrooms being private with their own en-suite. I would highly recommend The Dairy for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, you'll love it!

So pleased you and your parents enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for taking the time to post your review - we really appreciate it. You struck lucky with the weather. Norfolk has been a bit wet this year but you picked the right week. We look forward to seeing your friends again in September and hoping the sun shines for them too :)

We had a great week at West Heath Barn, from originally booking through to checking out (and posting left items back to us) the service, attention to detail, and personal care and communication from the owners was fantastic. The best service I’ve ever experienced while staying away.
Having two young children, the house was very well equipped with cots, beds, high chairs and baby gates.
The barn is beautifully renovated to a very high standard, with lots of little Homely touches.
We were welcomed with fresh eggs from the chickens, milk and all the things you initially need in the kitchen.
The gardens and surrounding rural countryside is lovely, quiet and peaceful, the local village is idilic and you are not far from great beaches. The drive to the beaches from the property is very picturesque.
The owners have chickens and alpaca’s which you can feed and visit which was also a hit with the children.
We will be back!

Having stayed at West Heath Barn on a few occasions before, we decided it would be an ideal venue for three generations of our family and two dachshunds for a get-together. As always the accommodation was absolutely first class and provided a great deal of space to meet the needs of everyone. Gill and Dave are brilliant hosts and were very responsive to any requests or questions. The barns are really well equipped with everything required for a weeks stay. My mother commented 'They really have thought of everything'! The dogs had their own safe space to have a run around in an enclosed area which proved really useful. The highlight of the week was the opportunity provided by Gill to have a walk and feed with the alpacas. Parking is ideal next to the barns with lots of space for all the cars. The location is perfect with access to two excellent local pubs and shop/café and endless places to visit and of course the fabulous North coastline. We will be returning again.

Thank you for choosing to return here to celebrate your big occasion and we're delighted it was a great success. I'm also delighted you enjoyed your time with the alpacas - it's always a pleasure to introduce them to our guests and to take them out for an amble on the paths around us. Thank you also for taking the time to post your lovely review - we really appreciate it. We hope to see you again when Norfolk beckons once more.

Our second trip in 7 months to The Dairy at West Heath Barn which for us is a very warm and welcoming "home from home." I have been holidaying in Norfolk for as long as I can remember (50+ years) and find West Heath Barn to be the perfect location to really get away from it all. An idyllic setting, quiet and peaceful with plenty of walks and open countryside quite literally on your doorstep. Gill and David couldn't be better hosts, always happy to help should you need anything , and they keep both the accommodation and the whole site immaculate. The Dairy is plenty big enough for two couples with the option of a third ensuite bedroom should you need more space. West heath Barns are very well appointed, with everything you could possibly need we often eat in which is easy to do as everything you could need in the kitchen is there already.
West Heath Barn is very dog friendly with an ideal large "dog run" securely fenced right next to the living accommodation which is ideal for late night leg stretches. The owners dog is always happy to keep any other visiting dogs company should they so wish!
If you have any special requests Gill and David are always happy to help wherever possible but its unlikely you will need to ask for anything, most likely its already in a cupboard somewhere!
Great Massingham is an ideal location for those not wanting to be "on the coast" , it offers a very peaceful alternative but is only a half hours drive through beautiful Norfolk countryside should you wish to visit. Massingham is well served with a decent pub, village shop (well stocked) and a small cafe with Fakenham , Swafham & Kings Lynn only a twenty minute drive if you need larger shops.
All in all a great place to stay to get away from it all, we will be back in the autumn.

Many thanks for your lovely review - we really appreciate you taking the time to post it and are delighted that you have had another relaxing and enjoyable stay in The Dairy. We count ourselves very lucky to live in such a beautiful spot in Norfolk where one can escape from it all but it's only a short drive to the stunning beaches and other attractions North Norfolk has to offer. It's so gratifying that so many of our guests choose to come back to our holiday cottages again and again. We look forward to seeing you in the Autumn :)

What a wonderful break we have enjoyed once more in the superb accommodation provided by Gill and Dave. Always a warm welcome with a delicious cake, milk, flowers and this time free range eggs from the hens! The Cart Lodge provided everything we could wish for with such attention to detail, all spotlessly clean and every reassuring Covid safety measure in place. As ever we didn't really want to leave and hope to be back very soon in this fabulous accommodation enjoying this beautiful area that is so close to our hearts. Thankyou very much for everything.

This was our first stay at West Heath Barn but we will definitely be back. We took both self catering cottages so that we could be within Covid regulations and we couldn't fault either cottage or our hosts. We were made to feel so welcome, with tasty lemon drizzle cake on our arrival! The cottages are very well fitted out, with everything you need to feel at home and be comfortable, and the grass outside meant that when the sun was shining we could eat outdoors. Would highly recommend, with a great location ideal for the pretty local village of Great Massingham and the Peddars Way walk.

We loved it so much on our first visit last year that we brought our friends with us this year. From the moment we arrived it was like staying with old friends. Gill and Dave are truly the most fantastic hosts - fresh flowers, homemade cakes and big smiles on arrival are wonderful, but it's the time and effort they put into your stay that makes this place so special.
The cottages are impeccably clean, equipped with everything you could possibly need and wonderfully cosy. The extra annex rooms are perfect if you want to bring parents along or give the kids a bit more space and freedom.
For children it's the animals and the outside space that makes it so special. Ours were leaping out of bed in the morning to help Gill with the alpacas and chickens.
There is so much to see and do in the area and Gill and Dave are great at helping you navigate the best bits with their local knowledge.
It really is the most perfect retreat, whether you want to spend your days on the beach, walking the Peddars Way, visiting historic sites or just hunkering down with a good book, you won't be disappointed. We will be back!

+1
The Cart Lodge was a fabulous place to stay. The accommodation was immaculate and there was real attention to detail; fresh flowers on the table and home made cake on arrival. The cottage had everything we needed, including those things which we always forget…foil, garlic press, olive oil…no need to do a supermarket dash this time! There was even milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea when we got there. Gill was great - very welcoming and happy to chat and offer advice on places to visit.
There is a multitude of attractions, all within 30 minutes drive of the property, such as Sandringham, Walsingham, various National Trust properties and the Norfolk Coast, but staying around the property was a great option as well, with walks on the doorstep and lovely local villages to explore.
We would love to return and explore the area a bit more and would definitely choose to stay here again.
