This a good location for military who want to visit Volcano National Park. You stay in the historic camp buildings...this is not a resort..more like a motel 6. We had fun hiking in the park and seeing all the sights on Hilo side of the...More
This was the second time staying at KMC, first time with a group of 50 and this time with 25 students and adults. Our affordable rooms were located in the Lehua building which has 18 units and generally have family-style multiple bedrooms, a common living...More

KVMC is on southwest corner of island and Hilo airport is pretty close (30-45mins). There were a lot of attractions on other side of the island near Kona but the drive to Kona from KVMC was pretty far, I believe 3 hours. So when we stayed 4 days, we did not sightsee on Kona side. However, we had an 8 month old with us and that stopped us from driving. If we didn’t have a kid I would have made the drive to the other side of the island.
