Then Rock Harbor Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy the rustic beauty of Isle Royale. There is nothing fancy about the lodge but all the basic comforts are there. The rooms are spartan with no TV, radio, or WiFi but then again this is a place you go to when you want to get away from it all. Each... More

For the middle of nowhere, the Rock Harbor Lodge does a very good job. It looks as if it was built in the 1960s and not changed much since then. No TV, hot tub, swimming pool or other amenities but, if you just want to get away from it all, it's excellent. Internet does not work in your room either.... More

We stayed in Cabin 211. I was disappointed in the view of Tobin Harbor (or lack of). My cabin and all the other cabins had very obstructed views of the water due to trees. The cabins don't have decks either. Inside the cabins were clean but the bunk beds were uncomfortable. No ladder to get in top bunk so you... More

Yes, it is your only choice here and less you're going to be camping on your own. But don't worry, this really seems like a full service hotel. It is way more than you'd expect for a place so remote. Rooms are clean. Get a first floor room and Lake Superior is literally right off your balcony. It was a... More

Our stay at Rock Harbor Lodge was wonderful. The scenery amazing, the food tasty, and the room cozy. Falling asleep to the lapping waves of Lake Superior was so relaxing. Jumping off the seaplane dock into the cool waters was fun and refreshing. Great place to really get away from it all.

My husband and I have stayed at many National Parks and can honestly say that Isle Royale National Park is the best - hands down! Because this NP is the smallest of all National Parks, it is managed a bit differently. Rock Harbor Lodge is a smaller, very clean Lodge. Each room in the lodge faces Lake Superior and the... More

We had one of the housekeeping cabins. The view of Tobin Harbor from our window was incredible. The double bed was comfortable, though the non-contoured sheets kept pulling off the mattress. There were two bunk beds, so it could sleep a family of four, however, there were only two heavy padded chairs for the dinner table plus two Adirondack-type chairs... More

You don't go to Isle Royale for the accommodations. The Rock Harbor lodge has all the necessary amenities. The staff is helpful and friendly. Our room looked recently rehabbed and had great deck at the edge of Lake Superior. Otherwise, it was reminiscent of a middle-level motel room, for about 4x the cost. It smelled a bit like moth balls... More

While it is not a cheap place to stay... It is your only option outside of a tent to spend some time on Isle Royal. It is definitely a place you should visit at least once in your life. The rooms are adequate and they have GREAT views. The water is amazingly clear so be sure to get out on... More

We stayed one night at the Rock Harbor Lodge, Our room was clean and our king size bed quite comfortable, especially after a day of hiking. The view from the picture window overlooking Lake Superior was breathtaking. Did not miss TV or phone!
