If you are wondering what happened to those older style places with knotty pine paneling, come to Big Meadows! This hotel is still in it's 1950s glory. The food is plentiful and takes pretty good. They even tell you what dishes are gluten free. It was the perfect antidote to the city.

Views are breathtaking. The lodge is very basic, do not expect high-end amenities. This resort is in middle of nowhere, which is one of the pros for us. At night if you have clear skies, go out in dark and look up, I haven't seen this many stars with naked eye since tonopah NV.Its a an all out feast for...

Great centre for exploring the park. Lots of rain and low cloud did not spoil our stay. Food OK, accommodation OK, wildlife and views stunning which is why we were there. Food in the bar was great and good local wine and beer. Restaurant food also good. lots of local walks and saw two bears in the local woods, along...

There the last night open for season. Bar out of stock, food choices reduced, meals nothing special. Accommodations good. One bad waiter experience in main dining room but reported person to management. I would return next year just not the last weekend, lesson learned

It's a classic lodge in a perfect location. The views are breathtaking, love the fireplaces. Lots of hiking opportunities. We also went horseback riding and were well taken care of. Enjoyed the restaurant too.

Stayed here for a weekend trip to Shenandoah. Booked one room and we were put in the Hawksbill cluster of cabins. It was definitely rustic but very clean and charming. The lodge was a delight for breakfast and dinner. You have beautiful views in the big "family room" while you wait for a table...you may wait a bit for breakfast...

Beautiful location, stunning stars, a communal fire-pit, and live music. Huzzah for all that! The restaurant left a little to be desired for dinner, and the room's bathroom could have been cleaner - otherwise this was great.

Overall, our experience was very satisfying. We used our Shenandoah National Park Association membership card to get a 30% discount on our lodging, 20% on each meal, and 20% on each purchase in the gift shops throughout the park--Well worth the price of $47 for annual membership. We were treated as special guests wherever we went (except at one gift...

Beautiful setting in Shenandoah National Park. We stayed in one of the buildings detached from the lodge. The room was comfortable but spare, with hard floors (likely because of the wood-burning fireplace. Enjoyed the fire in the cool autumn evenings. The only complaint about the room is that the bed was too close to the heat register, and when the...
