Despite having a great view, my overall experience here was awful... Room was full of cobwebs - not the small cobwebs that pop up after a day or two, but the large ones that take weeks to appear. Heat unit in the room wasn't working, which was a bit of a problem since it was

Although we got there before the leaves changed colors, it was lovely to see the grand views from the stops along the way. The Lodge was comfortable, the restaurant was very good, with good service and the gift shop was inviting. You can order food to go from the restaurant and

We stayed at this lodge after doing our fair share of research, we were aware of the issues mentioned by other travels but gave it a chance anyways. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and slept in just as many tents. I would have preferred a tent in 19 degree weather to

The big draw of this lodge, without doubt, is the setting. However, the designers have done a wonderful job of maximizing the views and enjoyment of this setting, with its cozy, window-lined common room and its sunset-view dining. I would return in a heartbeat. Our one dislike

We loved the property. We had booked 2 queen bed room and it was a very big room. We were little disappointed as we thought there will be great views but the trees block the view of the valley and the mountains. Parking is limited near the lodge so that could be a problem,

Sorry for the late response. The hotel rooms or non-main lodge mostly face the woods. Still pretty though. If you want a valley view, you should stay in the mail lodge. I love those old rooms anyway. Do not expect modern amenities. The rooms are about in the original condition when the place was built. No A/C, small showers or tub, rustic, but I love it. Hope this helps.

We thank ET for the comments about the closed restaurant. Yesterday we made reservations for next week, June 14, our anniversary and were not informed that the restaurant is still under renovation. We called after we read your comment and found that the work is still not finished. Do check before you make a reservation if you plan to use the restaurant.

I stayed in one of the newer buildings ("Doubletop", vintage 1959), and at least 2 of the photos were from that same building. Those rooms are good, and apparently more comfortable by modern standards than the oldest rooms in the main building.
