We were staying in a nearby gites and mentioned to the owner that we tend to self cater as finding vegetarian food in this part of France was so difficult. He recommended Tomlins and arranged for us to have lunch there on our last day. What a lovely experience. The meals are served table d'hote, but with reference to any...

We have recently got back from our holiday in chambon and stay at Tomlins. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and it was well situated for trips to La Rochelle and other local attractions. The most impressive part of this holiday was however the friendliness of the owners, and the outstanding quality of food. Lorraine and David were always around...

This was our second visit and not the last. David and Lorraine couldn't be more welcoming. Our room was very clean and comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal was three courses of beautiful tasty, fresh food. We recommend Tomlins to all our friends and anybody who is looking for a perfect vegetarian experience. I hope we can...

I travelled to The Tomlins Guest house a while ago. A friend and I stayed for a week on one of the cookery courses. We stayed in one of the gites and had a fantastic time. I was a bit of a novice on the cookery front. I found the weeks instruction invaluable. Other people were a lot more accomplished...

We arrived at Tomlins in a bit of a pickle with some urgent repairs needed for motorbike. La Rochelle ( with Harley dealership) and many beautiful beaches are not too far away thpugh we on the whole preferred the beautiful inland roads for fantastic riding. ( plenty cyclists as well as motorcyclists) David could not have been more helpful or...

I stayed here with my brother and his family for one night. They'd been previously and really enjoyed it. I can see why. Hosts David and Lorraine are really friendly, very welcoming and run a very comfortable and clean establishment. We had dinner with them and the food was superb: imaginative dishes beautifully prepared, full of freshness and flavour. Vegetarian...

Stayed at Tomlins Feb14-16, while picking up a pure-bred puppy from a farm nearby. Our drive from Calais was long, and we arrived after 1AM, but David stayed up to welcome us warmly. He has gites specially made to be comfortable but also accept dogs - just right for us. Next evening, we stayed in for a dinner prepared by...

Exceptional vegetarian food, relaxing and hospitable - We’ve stayed numerous times, in June, July and September, in the guest house and the gites and both are very comfortable. The Charente Maritime region has countless places to explore inland and by the sea. The countryside around the guest house is relatively flat and quiet which makes it a great place to...

We only stayed for one night (April 2014) and wish we'd stayed longer. David was very welcoming and the room was lovely. We used to visit David's restaurant in Penarth many years ago and I remember the food being very good then - I wasn't to be disappointed this time around either. The food was fantastic and the whole experience...
