My daughter and I had a wonderful and relaxed stay in Shipload Cottage. It was in a pretty location. Lots to do locally and Martin was very helpful and kind. A lovely cream tea on arrival too! I would recommend it.
Location ideal to relax and get away from it all. Cottage perfect for our stay in a wonderful area. The local village of Hartland had all the amenities required. Martin has kept the cottage we stayed in in very good order And the gardens are well kept.
We had a wonderful stay at Yapham cottages. The location is so beautiful and peaceful and our cottage was perfect. We had everything we needed and Martin was a great host. Thank you for a lovely time.
My husband and I stayed in Windbury Cottage with Teddy our dog from 20th - 23rd May. We were desperate for a break and Yapham Farm Cottages certainly fitted the bill. Set in beautiful surroundings with pheasants and squirrels for neighbours, it had everything we needed and an awful lot more. Everything was spotlessly clean, the gardens were very well maintained and at night small garden lanterns made for a lovely welcome. Although out in the sticks, access to the A39, Bideford, Hartland, Clovelly and Bude was easy making it an ideal base for visiting both North Devon and Cornwall. Martin the Manager had provided plenty of literature in the cottage recommending places to visit and eat and was on hand if needed.. There is plenty to do in the area and we will definitely make a return visit in the not too distant future.…
What a find, these cottages are situated in the beautiful North Devon countryside, very well presented, clean & tidy with all amenities you need for a break away. Even though it was the middle of Winter the cottage was warm and cosy. Our host Martin was on hand if we needed him and very informative, the whole process from booking through to the stay was seamless. We would highly recommend a stay in Barley Cottage
Comfortable, well equipped and spacious accommodation. Ideal for a couple. Everything worked and the whole place was immaculately clean on arrival. Great heating system and constant hot water. Quiet location but only a 5 minute drive from Hartland village and the coast. Hartland has 3 excellent pubs which all serve decent food, plus 2 shops for general provisions.
We stayed in the Shipload Cottage for 4 nights over Christmas having been prevented from travelling to France. It is a lovely cottage and beautifully located in the North Devon AONB. This is the perfect place to hide away and enjoy the countryside with some spectacular walks. The village of Hartland, with three good pubs, is a 35 minute walk away and the village of Clovelly is 10 minutes by car. The cottage is run by the ever-helpful Martin and is very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen.
We stayed in Shipload Cottage. The communication with the owner was fantastic, and the directions accurate. The cottage was spotlessly clean and everything we could possibly have needed during our stay had been thought of. The grounds are beautifully kept and the peanuts left for us to refill the bird feeder attracted blue tits, great tits, coal tits, nut hatches, great spotted woodpecker, right outside our front door! We would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone.
First visit to Devon and one to remember. We stayed in Barley cottage and had a really peaceful and relaxing, stress-free week. Sat in the heated conservatory either early morning or in the evening watching the two woodpeckers, and others birds feeding followed by the squirrel searching for nuts and watching him bury them in the orchard grass was absolutely fabulous. The cottage overall was really clean and accommodating and the bed was really comfortable and we woke every morning fully refreshed. We had a few trips out during the week and had great advice and help from Martin the site manager, who looked after the whole site extremely well. At night, when there were no clouds the night sky was tremendous and you could see the stars etc. beautifully as there was very little light. Dartington Crystal, Hartland Quay and Instow are 'must' visits. Watching glass being hand-blown into decanters etc. at Dartington Crystal was amazing. The peace and restfulness of Yapham cottages cannot be over-estimated, it is absolutely worth a visit and Martin is a great credit to the place. We hope to visit again sometime but recommend that others take the opportunity as soon as they can! Tom & Chris G, Yorkshire…
We have just returned from a week long stay in Windbury Cottage, one of three beautifully presented properties at Yapham Cottages in Hartland on the North Devon coast. Set in luscious countryside, at the end of a long driveway, you arrive into a peaceful retreat where the only noises you will hear will be the birdsong. The various small birds will come to visit you every morning on the feeders in the landscaped gardens. The steps down from the large carpark take you to one of the cosy cottages, Windbury has a pretty courtyard with a patio table and chairs to enjoy alfresco dining. Beautiful flowers adorn the whole site and there is an air of tranquility. Our cottage was a stone barn conversion, equipped with all the amenities that we required. Excellent Wi-Fi, reclining leather armchairs, Freeview flatscreen TV and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen had a microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob. There was also scones, jam and cream to welcome us after a long journey, which was a lovely touch. A really comfortable double bed with plenty of storage space. Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom with a walk-in shower unit and heated towel rail. All three cottages are 'dog friendly' and we had plenty of grounds to exercise our Labrador with a meadow halfway along the driveway. A special mention for Martin, the site manager. The work and dedication that he puts into making Yapham Cottages a delightful place to stay is quite remarkable. He would be out and about in the morning when we left and then even in the evening he would be attending to the gardens and surrounding areas. He is always on hand, living in the nearby farmhouse if you require any help or assistance. The location is perfect for exploring both Devon & Cornwall being near the border of the counties. Places to visit - Clovelly, you can make a free of charge return visit within the week which we did. A stunning cobbled street village tumbling down 400ft to the pretty harbour below. Charles Kingsley lived here and Charles Dickens also visited. Appledore, is a pretty coastal town with pastel coloured cottages. Instow across the water makes for a nice visit, as does Westwood Ho! Head down the coast and you will come to Bude in Cornwall, with the beautiful beach at Widemouth Cove. We even went further down into Cornwall, about an hour's drive to arrive at Daymer Beach, which has stunning walks along the Camel Estuary. Hartland Quay is just up the road, where there are incredible geological rock formations and gorgeous sunsets. More fabulous beaches can be found at Saunton Sands and Woolacombe. Take a trip to the small hamlet of Lee near Ilfracombe and then on to Lynton & Lynmouth. There is a large retail park at Bideford, where you will find an Asda store, McDonalds, Next and various other retail outlets. If you are looking for the perfect location to explore North Devon & Cornwall, in beautiful countryside in a peaceful and tranquil environment, Yapham Cottages is the place to be!…
