Mereside is a farm-based B&B, with four rooms/suites in 2 converted barns, but distant from the working farm. For an inexpensive B&B, the rooms and facilities are quite exceptional. Size, space, fittings, furnishings, new and full-fitted kitchen with D.washer and microwave, oven, grill, dining table, sitting area, walk in shower/wet-room, classy furniture, comfy bed, beams and barn conversion done with style and taste, lovely little thoughtful touches everywhere. I could go on. Ample parking. Opposite the Mere. Walking distance to Ellesmere. And all that, without paying over the odds. Thanks Niki. She's marvellous too!!

We booked a short break to stay in Merebank. The cottage was wonderful. Spotlessly clean and lovely, high quality furnishings. Absolutely everything you could want is included.
It's a rarity to stay in such lovely accommodation when you choose a dog friendly place.
Nicki, the owner, was lovely, and very helpful.
We can't wait to return!

Great location on the edge of a pretty, historic village across the road from a lovely mere (lake). Lots of easy walking in many directions. So much to see. Accommodations are very pleasant, soft bed, nice linens, cosy suites with cooking facilities and spacious bathroom with soaker tub and shower. Well and tastefully decorated. Clean. Great base for exploring many sights with glorious scenery all around. So much to see and so. Canal walks are interesting. People are friendly. Highly recommend

We have stayed twice at Mereside Farm. The rooms were perfect. This year we didn't have time to stay because of school holidays.
So, we settled for their wonderful pork pies. As always Nicky was friendly and helpful with arranging an order for our narrowboat trip. She even delivered them to the marina.

I stayed at this B&B for one night, in no4 The Hayloft. The room has been recently refurbished and has a small kitchen (microwave not hob), sink, kettle and all the plates and cups you might need. There is also a small fridge.
The bathroom is a wetroom, but, unlike others I have used did not flood the whole of the bathroom.
As well as the bed there is a table, two fold up chairs and two tub chairs for relaxin in front of the port hole window. All in all a very pleasant place.
The Hayloft does sit close to the main road and before seven o'clock the road was quite busy but not noisy. After seven there was very little traffic and I had a good nights sleep on the comfortable bed.
The owner was really good and offered me alternatives to the normal breakfast arrangements when I said I had to leave early the following morning.
Ellesmere is about 20 minutes from Wrexham and you cross the border on the way. It is around 30 minutes or so from Shrewsbury on a good road.
The farm has a great car park with secure storage and is opposite the lake which looked lovelly.

Fantastic accommodation by the mere. We stayed for one night, everything we needed was there. Spotlessly clean and cosy. Children loved seeing the horses and the gardens. A very warm welcome, great hostess. Many thanks.

I booked Mereside Farm B&B for my 17 year old son to stay in whilst retaking exams at Ellesmere College. We know the area quite well as we have family in Shropshire but live abroad and so it was important to find the right place for my son to stay.

Right from the start the owner, Nicky, was warm, friendly and extremely helpful. My son doesn't drive and it is usually a location that requires a car, but Nicky immediately offered to take my son to and from the college, which was really helpful and totally surplus to her duties as a host. She was friendly and welcoming and made my son feel very comfortable and at home.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and really nicely decorated. My son spent his time revising for his exams, but said he was really impressed by the locality and would love to return to explore the area in more detail.

When booking accommodation, I always feel that cleanliness is priority, followed by location. Mereside Farm scores five stars for both, but when you have such a great host it makes all the difference to the quality of your stay.

Cannot recommend it highly enough.

It was the attention to detail that made this dog friendly B and B so special. The rooms had everything you need including free wi fi. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the bedroom well furnished. The owners were friendly and helpful. You could have breakfast there at extra cost but we opted for breakfast and a mereside view at the Riverside Restaurant. But that's another review.......
