I booked through air bnb which was hosted by Hoseasons then passed onto Woodland Park Lodges and when I found out it’s a family run business, I felt I fobbed them off as the big boys would have taken a cut of the price, so I will certainly be booking direct next time!
We arrived early so headed to the nearby Tesco for the essentials but it turned out we didn’t need them! We stayed in Rowan Lodge and we were pleasantly surprised that there was hand soap, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, cloths, bin bags etc in the well equipped kitchen, even a little milk in fridge. The dishwasher gave us time off from washing up and the washing machine was a nice touch. The cupboards were full of everything we needed to cater for ourselves. It was clean and having a specific recycling bin was really good.
The hot tub was nice and clean, ready to use as soon as we arrived. It was such a secluded location so we had lots of privacy when using it. It was checked every morning.
The lodge itself was so cosy with dimmed lighting and it felt really homely with the sofas and dining table. The 2 double rooms had an en suite each and plenty of storage for clothes etc.
Our neighbours were prolific rule breakers and other families nearby complained about their disruption but the owners dealt with this very efficiently and their stay was cut short. Vicky then made sure we were ok the next morning which was really nice.
Alex was super friendly and Keith the caretaker was always around for tourist advice!
I would absolutely recommend this beautiful place. It was a lovely experience and there was plenty to do in the local area, a short drive out. They are currently expanding the sight with new lodges.

What a hidden gem! We stayed in snowdrop treehouse and wow! The location is perfect for a relaxing break. The treehouse itself was exceptionally clean so a big shout out to the cleaning team. It is great being dog friendly and my little dogs felt right at home here! The woodland walks are very handy but can get very muddy but this can’t be helped and adds to the forest experience. The team had left a nice gesture of dog treats and homemade chutney which was a nice touch! The heating is soo efficient and stays lovely and warm. Inside the treehouse is full of modern facilities such as the inbuilt fire place, smart LED TV, nespresso coffee machine, hive heating system and automatic lights within the en suite and closet. The kitchen was stocked with all appliances and has everything you need in regard to crockery and cutlery. I will say though, kitchen cupboard space is lacking to place own cupboard items however the kitchen island provides enough space. Bedrooms were very cosy on a night however an issue we found was the beds to be very uncomfortable due to the double beds being two single beds pushed together. We found due to it being two mattresses placed together we were dipping into the middle of the bed which was very uncomfortable and unfortunately we didn’t have the best of sleep and is a shame as the bedrooms are lovely. Plenty of towels were provided which was an added bonus. We did find that the bathrooms sink taps were quite loose and may need tightening up. The outdoor space is brilliant and lovely to wind down in the hot tub amongst the trees. The overall site was very tidy and peaceful with no disturbance whatsoever. Plenty of parking outside the treehouse and bins are ideally placed for convenience. A few recommendations would be to have full double beds to ensure comfort for guests rather than two single beds placed together. Maybe provide larger TV’s in the bedrooms as they were extremely small and hard to see from a distance. Whilst there were items provided such as washing up liquid, hand soap and a sponge, it would be beneficial to provide some cleaning products eg. Toilet gel for the en suites, antibacterial wipes for the kitchen and maybe complimentary tea, coffee and sugar. Overall it was an amazing stay and I would highly recommend. We would not hesitate in booking again when we are due another relaxing break, thank you to the Woodland Park Lodge Team.

We have just come back from a lovely 4 night stay in Cedar Lodge. The lodges are clean, comfy, spacious and very well equipped. I especially liked that there was a washing machine as when your a family of 6 and away for a week it's not fun playing catch up with washing when you get back so this eased it a bit. Parking close to lodge. The hot tubs were clean & checked daily, the kids loved being in the woods in it spotting wildlife & Mum & Dad enjoyed the peace while the kids were in bed. Haha! The lodges are in a beautiful woodland with 2 trails and lots of wildlife. The squirrels were a big hit with our kids as we don't have them where we live. They are in the process of building new lodges there atm. We hope to return sometime again and hope to try one of the tree houses next time as they were snapped up when we booked but Cedar was lovely. Staff were friendly. The village of Ellsemere was 5-10 minutes away, we had a lovely walk along the village & canal. Chinese was good, also Coco Coffee bar for lunch & a cuppa, lovely chatty lady in there. Tesco had everything you needed for self catering. Highly recommend, thank you.

We have just returned today from a 3 night stay in the snowdrop tree house. The treehouse is gorgeous, very clean and spacious and beautifully kept. The outdoor decking is lovely, again plenty of room for the dog, outdoor furniture and the hot tub. The beds were so comfy and we all slept well. The showers are lovely and hot, very powerful. The kitchen is stocked with all utensils, a coffee machine and 2 pods, cleaning basket with dishwasher tablets, binbags, washing liquid etc. The complementary milk and preserve was a lovely surprise as well. The hot tub was amazing, always hot and even after an hour inside it, still holds its temperature. The park its self is beautiful, very peaceful and true woodland. The on site walks are perfect for the dog as the bigger walk was around 40mins with a 5yr old. The WiFi worked perfectly for us during our stay. We honestly had the best time and we hope to come back again.

We are currently staying in ‘Birch’ lodge as a family of four and our precious pooch for four nights, Mon to Fri. We have two teens who are revising for exams so need some peace and quiet whilst hubby and I go for walks with our dog. It is a beautiful wooden lodge under the cover of the trees and surrounded by nature. The cabin is far larger than we expected with three double bedrooms, one is a twin but can be made up as a double. The bathroom is huge with a great shower which is floor level so perfect for me who has health issues. The floor is non slip and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is packed with everything you could possibly need and again was spotlessly clean. We cooked in all nights but one where we had chips from a local take away. There are a good selection of take aways about a five minute drive away (leaflets left in the lodge with info folder). There is also a Tesco for anything you may have forgotten. The main living area has a lovely table and chairs and the comfiest sofa we’ve ever sat on! Heating is great as it is individual heaters in each room so you can keep bedrooms cooler if preferred. The beds were comfy, bedding spotless and good quality and great blackout curtains. The hot tub is fab, and looking up at the stars at night amazing! It’s Autumn so leaves and acorns do fall now and again but this has had zero impact on us, in fact it adds to the experience of being in the woods. The table under cover outside was a lovely place to sit and read and watch the birds. There are two woodland walks which the dog loved! Make sure you have proper walking boots/shoes as it is a real woodland walk. Literally silence other than trees, crunchy leaves and birds cheeping. There is a bench at one point which you can sit and admire the small pond. The lady in reception is just so nice and friendly and happy to offer any help you could possibly need.
So, if you’re actually looking for a REAL get away from it all in a REAL woodland setting then come here! Ok, the WiFi is pretty slow as is the phone service, however, the car park at the top just near to our cabin, had enough to make calls and we all managed to use the WiFi when needed. Why not read a book and leave your phone alone?! The cabin we were in was great if you want to be close to the car park, but when we come again we’d choose a cabin a little further away for privacy, not that people were waking past constantly (the park was full).
They have nearly finished building the most amazing looking treehouses which we cannot wait to stay in! Will definitely be back as soon as possible! Thank you for our wonderful little holiday!

We stayed at primrose treehouse for 2 nights, this was one of the loveliest log cabins we have ever stayed in. The accomodation is modern and comfortable, so much thought has gone in to making these treehouses feel like home. Everything you could need can be found from an iron to a coffee machine, beautiful bedding and high quality towels. The staff we met were very approachable and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and we were left to enjoy our holiday knowing they were on hand if needed. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful, sitting in the forest in the hot tub was a special treat. We took our little dog who was welcomed with a goodie bag of dog treats, he really enjoyed the woodland walk. It was great to be able to bring him along to such a high quality accomodation, you would never know that a dog has stayed in these cabins they are spotless.

Just got back from spending 4 nights here. The lodge is very spacious and cosy at the same time. It had 3 decent sized bedrooms which were 2 doubles and 1 twin. Our lodge came with a hot tub that was already filled and heated on arrival and also had the benefit of having a gazebo over it. The kitchen had very good appliances which included a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and a very good fridge freezer that kept my beers ice cold. The receptionist was very friendly and gave us some useful information. If you like being in the middle of nowhere then you will love this place however for us it was a little too far out from anything else. The main town is only a ten minute drive away but to be honest there isn't really much there that we seen. The sofa in the lodge is very comfortable and we enjoyed having one each to sprawl out on. The beds on the other hand are not very comfortable and the pillows are way too soft. We didn't really get one good night's sleep due to what appears to be a farm close by. The noise from the machinery had me up every morning from around 3-4am and we could also hear a noise coming from the hot tub. Would we stay here again, maybe for 2 nights with a larger group but would not want to stay any longer than that

Hol should have been 4-11 Aug 23, we checked out Mon 7th as it was disgusting. My husband, 2 kids and I, plus dog, stayed in the Hawthorn Lodge. On arrival we noticed a really strong damp smell in all 3 bedrms. I reported this to reception straight away, was told can't help, you'll have to wait til Mon to see owners daughter. You can have a can of air freshener to spray inside. There's no one around over the wkend except the caretaker. We got him to check the lodge Sat morning and he agreed there was a damp problem. After initially noticing the smell there also were lots of other small things that just made it feel like this lodge is not looked after/ cleaned properly. We, as a family have stayed in a few other lodges, booked through Hoseasons and have never had any issues, the was by far the worst and most expensive! The 3 nights we endured very broken sleep as the heavy damp smell kept waking us up and made the beds feel like they were damp also. I didn't unpack my clothes, however my other family members did, and since being home and emptying suitcases they all smell really musty. The pictures I've added are of all the other things that really don't make this a luxury lodge, it's just a shame I can't picture how awful the smell was. We packed up Mon morning as had had enough, we're offered a meager 20% off which we refused. Said at the least wanted the money back for the remaining nights not there, however I feel that it should have been a full refund as our holiday was ruined. My kids have to have their own rms due to their ages but they ended up having to share as my daughters room was one of the worst and she has asthma, which was aggrevated. I don't think that lodge should take bookings until its had a deep clean, got rid of all the mould and fix/ replace all the broken stuff. I've had to give 1 out of 5 but if there was an option it would get zero!!!

As I said when we spoke, I am very sorry that this was your experience in Hawthorn Lodge as all other guests have left very good reviews. On Hoseasons Hawthorn Lodge scores 4.9/5. As a small family run business we take it personally when guests do not leave the park having had an enjoyable stay. I have already rectified many of your concerns as all feedback we receive we take on board and action where required.

Very nice site well kept the lodge was clean and very nice inside the hot tub was fantastic and did appreciate all the small extras that was there like washing up sponge, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls , soap and the dog treats that was left for our dog. If you like to watch the wild life that was about they were very entertaining. The wood was lovely to walk around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would go back there again.
