We stayed with Abbey for 3 nights. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and a homemade lemon drizzle cake in hand..delicious! We had the Elm room which was very spacious with a large bathroom. We had everything we needed and more. Having a bath and shower was a real treat, Abbey has a secret technique to keep those showers screens so clean!😉 be careful with the bed, the mattress is sooooo comfy you may miss most of the day! Breakfast was delicious as was the view from the breakfast room. Even the eggs were delivery to the door by chicken express (pet chickens) it was an absolute delight to stay there and we would definitely return.

The Bed & Breakfast is well situated to enjoy Somerset’s countryside, yet close enough to drive to the beaches in Dorset & Devon. The house is set in a beautiful garden that guests are free to explore. Abby’s no fuss warm & friendly welcome puts you at ease, cream tea served on arrival in the garden was a great touch. Breakfast was both relaxed and delicious. We enjoyed the home made granola, breads & cooked full English - other options were available. We did not feel rushed and the view so amazing you didn’t want to leave. The room was very comfortable and liked the fact you had a fridge with fresh milk in. We would definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Newchester Farmhouse we stayed for seven nights in the oak garden room. On arrival there were chocolate brownies and cream waiting for us that Abby had made they were delicious.
Abby is such a lovely genuine and kind caring person nothing was too much trouble whilst we were there she made us feel very welcome and her lovely breakfast set us up for the rest of the day.
We had such a relaxing stay the bed was so comfortable we slept really well, the room and bathroom was lovely and clean the garden had great views and the whole place had a natural charm of its own, the chickens came to visit every morning and we met John who looked after the sheep he was a such a lovely character we really enjoyed talking to him.
Thank you Abby for looking after us so well during our stay we would love to come back again someday.

We had a lovely 3 night stay in July 2022. The accommodation is perfect and very clean.
Abby the owner is such a nice lady and nothing is too much trouble. Her breakfasts were so good, great variety and really tasty. (Homemade granola is a winner!)😁

Outside, the gardens are such a lovely place for a stroll with all the flowers in bloom with great views of the surrounding countryside.
The rooms are all excellent. We booked the whole b&b for the weekend for a family get together. We stayed in the Elm room on the top floor and it was perfect.
The bed is the star of the show here. So big, extremely comfortable and the duvet, well, I'm thinking of getting one as it's that good. 3 of the best nights sleep I've ever had.
The bathroom was very large with a great bath and amazing rain shower, just perfect.
Tea and coffee are available in the room and Abby puts a jug of fresh milk in your fridge which is a nice touch. There is also a lounge for guests with a TV and 2 very comfy sofas to relax in.
Reports from the other members of my family are the same, everyone slept and ate well and the facilities were excellent 👍

If you're planning on visiting this area, staying here is a no brainer. You won't regret it.
Thank you for a lovey stay Abby 10/10 😁

We arrived on Friday night and were meet by Abby and felt her immediate welcome warming and kind.

We had homemade Apple Cake which she has just made, it was deliciously good.

We stayed in the Ash Room with the biggest bed imaginable and it was absolutely the best sleep with the softest marshmallow pillows you could ever want, perfect 2 nights sleep, slept like babies each night.

The room was clean and with a welcome tray of teas coffee's etc and a fridge with fresh milk, brilliant.

The shower was clean and modern, the towels were generous in size and fluffy.

Breakfast was spot on, full English with everything you needed to set you up for the day and Abby makes homemade muesli which was very tasty.

Outside you can see the chickens roaming about in a lovely garden and pretty little flowers are starting to blossom.

We had a fabulous time and it's all thanks to Abby and her family, you are made to feel so welcome.

We didn't want to leave, and shall return in the future for sure, highly recommend you try this perfect B&B out, it's outstanding, one of the best we've ever stayed in.

We had a very warm welcome from Abbi, complete with drinks, scones, Jam & cream. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including blankets for sitting outside. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. There was an excellent choice for breakfast which, due to COVID restrictions, was delivered to our room. The quality of food was high with much of it being homemade. Abbi is a wonderful hostess who went the extra mile to make us feel at home and pampered, we left feeling full, relaxed and re-charged.

First of all, the farmhouse itself is absolutely stunning! Gorgeous green scenery with nothing but chirpy birds and the cluck of the farm hens and cockerels. Such a homely place and felt super cosy and comfortable. The service that we received was probably the best I have ever experienced. Abby went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. She bought us fresh homemade scones and tea upon arrival and even gave us a lift into the local town (Crewkerne) to save us paying for a taxi. The room (Elm) was fantastic; lovely and spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. The bed was probably the most comfy thing I’ve ever slept on and felt super well rested come morning. The bathroom was huge and the waterfall shower was such a treat. The room has excellent facilities including fresh milk in the fridge, a tv and lots of other things. The breakfast was gorgeous!!! The granola was to die for as well as the pancakes with syrup and the poached eggs that my partner had.
We would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone and if I could rate it above 5 stars then believe me I would!!! Fabulous

Abby is a wonderful host and offers you a warm and friendly welcome to her beautiful home.
The beds are super king size and so comfortable and the bathrooms are luxurious.
Abby serves an amazing breakfast and if the weather is good, you can have breakfast or evening drinks in the garden and be entertained by the free roaming chickens.
There are great places to visit in the area. Abby is very knowledgeable and will recommend places of interest. Her brochure is informative and detailed.
We will definitely be back.
We highly recommend Newchester Farmhouse B and B.

Stayed for long weekend in Garden Room surrounded by free range chickens and pheasants visiting the Orchard. Bedroom and en suite we’re warm spacious and immaculate. Superb bed and luxury bath and shower. Abby supplied fabulous multi choice breakfast with home made granola and extras depending on garden produce. We were even treated to home baked scones with real clotted cream and jam on our return From a day out. Abby was a lovely attentive host and we will return to further explore the area, staying of course in the Garden room.

Abby is the perfect host and goes out of her way to make you feel connected with both herself and the local countryside and further afield with a wide array of information on walks and local eateries.

The kitchen is overflowing with a wide variety of cookbooks and Abby likes to try new things as part of the breakfast offering. For example, on our visit - baked apple porridge with maple butter was rustled up without any prior indication and was sumptuous. Other homemade treats were on offer too which were much appreciated.

We always felt that we were in someone’s personal cosy, friendly home.

We would without any hesitation highly recommend Newchester Farmhouse.

Thank you for a wonderful stay

Gerard & Maggi

P.S.
Its always best for you and Abby - if you can book directly via Newchester Farmhouse website or telephone directly.

What make of beds are they please as I need one of these !
Answer from somersetbed
Crewkerne, United Kingdom12 contributions4 helpful votes
Norris Bedding! With feather toppers from Soak and Sleep, or wool toppers from the Wool Room, depending on whether you like firm or soft beds - the feather is softer. They are not cheap (several thousand) and usually only do trade, but if you say you saw them on 4 in a Bed they’ll be happy to quote you for their beds if you are serious. It’s a wonderful investment but quite a big one! Otherwise try the Odd Mattress Company who are good (not quite as good) but cheaper. Hope that helps Best wishes Abby

Hello, the best booking method is to go to the website and check the booking tab, as that gives you availability. You can call direct on 07779 606620 if you want to discuss dates more broadly, though at the moment there isn't any availability at all until October I'm afraid, though there are other very lovely B&Bs in the area, like Lower Severalls which is close by. The beds are from Norris Bedding, which are fabulous though not cheap. I also add toppers from either the Wool Room or Soak and Sleep, both of which are lovely.
