As my intended sojourn in Scarborough clashed with some traditional Yorkshire cricket beanfeast wherein Scarborough's pitch becomes a ersatz Headingley, there was no room at the chosen inn. No fear for this is a really nice alternative that is only a few miles away. Although the buses are not numerous taxis are readily booked by the helpful owners. Nothing on...

I have just attended a family wedding here and have to say it was amazing. The accommodation, food and staff were fantastic. Would certainly recommend anyone thinking of holding a special occasion to consider this venue.

Me and a friend were driving arouns looking for somewhere to eat. Stumbled across this fabulous place. Even though they had 2 separate private functions on and we didn't have a reservation, they managed to squeeze us in and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and my steak was cooked to perfection. Having great food is one...

We went for a works Christmas meal. On first arrival there was a wedding on the ground floor and our Christmas party was on the first floor. The doubled functions lead to staff shortage with no one welcoming and guiding us to the correct room. When we got to the function room we were crammed in with about 150 people....

We were driving on our way to Scarborough from York and was diverted off the A64 via Pickering so we were looking for a Sunday Lunch, well not being a lover of carvery's and some poor experiences I glad we stuck with it. The restaurant was busy and they could only accommodate a table for 2 in the Bar area,...

We stayed in room 206 which was a lovely big room with a big ensuite boasting both walk in shower and separate shower. We had a large and very comfy bed. Check in was very easy & very welcoming. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us and gave us easy access to Scarborough and...

Reception staff were excellent. Good bar service and the food is good and wholesome with a refined touch. Breakfast could have been better. The cooked part was good but the fruit and cereal part was a very poor after thought. Rooms and see comfortable and surrounding area very pleasant

Stayed at the Downe Arms Country Hotel for 3 nights. Our room was 202, decor was lovely and very clean. Only downside was the toilet noise but it didn't put us off, neither did the church clock. The service at the evening meal and breakfast was extremely efficient. Lovely food! Overall we loved it, but the staff made it for...

We were on holiday and had eaten here a few years ago and on our way back to base we decided to call in on a Friday and finish the holiday with a nice meal. We were a bit early (5-30pm) and were unsure whether they were serving meals at that time. We were welcomed in and given a table...

Hotel is about 8 miles from Scarborough and about 30 from York. Our room-202 was a comfortable room with a fourposter bed. It is on the side of the building adjacent to the church-if you are a light sleeper avoid this room as the church clock strikes every hour-even through the night! Breakfast was part buffet-cereal, yoghurt fresh fruit but...
