Detailed Reviews
We camped here in mid July 2020 and would highly recommend it to all families. The pitches were very spacious and social distancing was easy. The toilets and showers were super clean (some cubicles are cordened off), there was loads of soap and hand sanitizer to use, and only 3 people allowed inside at any time which was being observed well.
The kids play area is brilliant! Stuff for kids of all ages. We could see it clearly from our pitch which was great for slightly older kids who don't want you right there. Lots of exploring in the woods and the donkeys/alpacas were a lovely bonus.
We did stand up paddle boarding at North Yorkshire Water Park while camping, and half our session were from the campsite! It's only 5 min drive away.
No noise after 10pm very well adhered to. Play park also closed at 10pm.
We will be back!

Me and my fiancé visited for 2 nights in October, 26th-28th. We booked through Wowcher and got a cracking deal, £49 for two nights in one of the huts. Yes it is basic BUT if you come equipped it is perfect for a couple that can entertain themselves which we did. The pod could fit 4 people but it would be snug with two double air beds. It had a plug socket, radiator, USB adapter and a small mirror. In the summer there is a bench outside which was ours but obviously we didn’t use it with the weather conditions but I can imagine it being perfect with a bbq and drinks in summer.
The camping site grounds are well looked after, very clean and very quiet, apart from the gorgeous donkeys (which sound like dinosaurs when they make a noise haha). The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and answered any queries we had. The shower facilities and toilets were just across from our pod (number 5) and also the park for anyone that has kids. The showers were kept clean and there wasn’t a hairdryer charge... bonus!! Also the reception area has essentials like tea/sugar/bread and milk but no alcohol.
Adjacent from the grounds, there is a lake with water sports which I think would be better in the hotter months. Lots of walking routes which we didn’t do but would have if it hadn’t have been raining. We visited the Downe Arms for a couple of drinks but found that a bit expensive, we enjoyed the Ye Old Forge Valley Inn a lot better with nicer staff and a better atmosphere, food was beautiful and really good value for money! The pizzas are to die for.
We got the bus twice in to Scarborough which you can catch just outside of the Downe Arms. It’s about half an hour on the bus which was nothing but we got taxis back.
A wonderful 2 night experience, would go again but probably in Summer, thank you!

Not only is this place spotless and spacious in a great location the staff are extremely friendly. On arrival on valentine's day we were welcomed with a heart shaped biscuit and they could not have welcomed us more.
Unfortunately my wife fell I'll on the weekend so we had to dash off. The staff could not help enough, they were very sympathetic.
Thanks guys, really appreciate it and we will br back throughout the year with friends and family

We stayed here on an adult only fully serviced pitch over the jubilee weekend for 3 nights.
Wow!!! What a beautiful, clean well set out site.
Attention to detail, friendly staff. Great toilet and shower blocks.
Lovely little cafe where we had a superb breakfast and lovely coffee 😋
Would highly recommend sooo much so we are going to book again to bring our grandchildren in the summer holidays. 😀 😍😍

Visited this campsite early summer and booked online. 2 small tent fields at the side of the site. Although full, it was nicely spaced out and campsite was respectful of quiet at night. Toilet facilities were clean and warm showers. Easy acceptable into Scarborough and also waterpark for days out! Will definitely be back to stay again!

Loved it.
We stayed on the top fields tenting site. Mainly adults but family were staying on same field.
On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful.
Toilets and shower blocks very clean a k so closed every 2 hours for full cleaning.
We had some noise just with late night drinkers but the staff came and had a word about notice after 10pm and quickly sorted. Will due to the location of the field there was a quite noisy. Again a lovely site and will call again..

+1
2nd time here but this time in a glamping pod (Wykeham).
On arrival, reception staff were particularly friendly and informative. We were given a welcome pack and asked if we’d like to be shown to the pod.
The pod was clean and tidy and included a bath mat, toilet roll and a small cleaning pack. The kitchen area had plenty of crockery and cutlery for our stay. The only downside for us was the mattress as it was a little uncomfortable but we only stayed for 2 nights so made do!
Outside was a decked area with table, parasol and hot tub! This was amazing on an evening as we enjoyed stargazing with a glass of fizz!
The fish and chip van which visits the site on a Friday was delicious (£10 for fish and chips) as were the pizzas from the on-site cafe which are available on Saturdays. We popped to the local pub too for drinks (Downe Arms).

We have been to the park many times , which says it all. Mainly in the adults only section. However , if you want a ‘no children section ‘ this can sometimes not be the case. They can and often do cycle through the area as it forms part of the exit route.
The pitches are very generous and well kept.
Cafe on site , not used this though.
ANPR type entrance , which is helpful.
The dog walk is the best I’ve ever used on a site.
The location of the park is ideal to visit the area.
Fair value for money , but to add pay as you go electricity on top of your holiday brings my rating down a little.
The shower block is what really lets the site down for me. While the water is nice and hot and the pressure is good , the blocks are looking extremely tired and in need of bringing into the 21st century. My wife notes a distinctive drain smell in the ladies , which was also noted last year. Might sound harsh but I’ve been to sites which cost a lot less and have been far better in the shower area.
For the site to boast its wonderful these facilities let it down.
I really do hope Downey Estates have these facilities improved.

We enjoyed our recent stay at St Helens, facilities were great, location was excellent for getting out to nearby areas and so would certainly recommend to family and friends. The only thing I must comment on is we booked an adult only pitch, however every night we were there, there were kids playing right outside our caravan or on the grass to the side, one night bound him a basketball constant for 25mins. Not a big deal really but not what we were hoping for on this break. We would come back but don’t see the point in the site advertising adult only pitches and so probably wouldn’t book one.

My wife & i have just spent 3 nights at this fantastic place, we stayed in the Wykeham pod (complete with hot tub), the pod was a perfect size for the two of us, but could also accommodate a couple of children too. The site itself is perfectly located for exploring the East Coast, it's also immaculately looked after. There is a cafe on site that makes lovely breakfasts, a laundry, dog washing facilities etc. The staff were all so friendly & helpful, we'll definitely be back soon.

Hi there. This is our favourite site and we often camp and use the pods. It’s lovely and peaceful, you won’t regret booking it. There is a cafe on site for breakfast and the lady who runs it is lovely. Approx £5 for a full English. There is no bar onsite but I recommend the pub just down the road called the Downe Arms. Gorgeous food in a lovely setting. You can eat in the restaurant or the bar as it’s the same menus and price. To get to the pub you can either walk down the road or through the woods. It’s a lovely walk through the woods in the daytime but might be a bit tricky at night. Be sure to visit the old Ice house in the woods near the church. Hope you love it as much as we do. The facilities are very well maintained and all the staff are really friendly. Have a great weekend!
1 o'clock 'ish, if running late just give them a call, they are very accommodating.
Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering are all short car rides away. We went to Robin Hood's bay & went rock pooling.
On site we played boules. We always take board games for wet days. Plus we have cards & a bag of pennies; which my 11 year old loved. We also have a swing ball that you put water in the base which kids young & old love. Hope this helps xx
freewifi was what we had to put in
