I visited today with my husband, in-laws and 8 month old daughter for Sunday lunch. The welcome and service were fantastic, the staff were friendly and made a special effort with my daughter (heating up the food I had brought with me and bringing a jug of cold water for me to cool her bottle down). The food was absolutely...

We have been coming here for about 6 years. The service is really friendly. It's cosy in winter. The food just keeps getting better and better. We find the portions are a good size. Usually we just have a main course and perhaps share a pud, which does us nicely. They tell you where all the food comes from, pretty...

We know the nearby areas of Rosedale, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering very well, but did not know about the Fox & Hounds in sinnington. A great find tucked away in the delightful village of Sinnington off the A170. A good pub populated by locals and guests. Friendly staff and great food. A testament to the quality of the food is that...

One of our favourite places for Sunday outings ,always a friendly welcome coupled with attentive service. Good choice of starters, request for half portion of roast beef, was well presented and,my slow cooked lamb was cooked to perfection. The extras, linen napkins, bread before starters, and separate vegetable dishes, rates the Fox and Hounds high on our Sunday lunch list.

Ample parking to rear, although we did have a slight issue when some guy who suddenly appeared and asked us not to exercise our dog on the grass, we were fully kitted up for a walk, jackets, walking boots, rucksack the lot, I'd just been into the pub (dog friendly, lovely black lab laid in hotel reception) to ask if...

Booking was last minute and I managed to get 3 double rooms for a birthday celebration. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were well appointed and beds very comfy! The food was tasty and well cooked - good sized portions. Probably the most tender duck I've ever had! Cosy country pub in a beautiful, quiet location....

I have stayed here four times now with my wife and we love the place. It is a country pub with nice rooms and a lovely restaurant. The rooms are not large as they are in a historic building. I have not been in the new wing and these rooms may well be bigger but the rooms we have stayed...

We booked a reservation for five people at 6:15 so we could order off the Early Supper menu which ends at 6:30. We enjoyed pulls of Black Sheep and other regional beers while awaiting the arrival of the last member of our group. The friendly staff kept our glasses full, and answered our questions when we were ready to order....

We visited several times for meals when we holidayed in Sinnington. We could take our greyhound with us into the bar area to eat. The food was amazing, and the staff very friendly and welcoming. It is a good idea to book to be sure of a table, although we didn't need to as we visited out of season.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This attractive 18th-Century former coaching inn in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire offers a warm welcome the minute you arrive. A little loop road just off the A170 Helmsley to Pickering road on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, Sinnington has everything a classic English village should; a maypole, a village green, a 12th century church and ducks feeding on the beck that gently winds its way through the village. There are pretty riverside and woodland walks nearby. Its cosy bar, open fire and hanging hops deliver a rustic and relaxing atmosphere. There's also a contemporary restaurant that boasts oak tables and attractive lighting - ideal for those looking for that slightly more intimate affair. But wherever you choose to sit, you can be assured of a delicious meal. This is a destination for people who enjoy good food cooked well. The three chefs source many of their ingredients locally, making the most of the area's fine meats and fish and home grown vegetables and herbs. The meat is supplied by BW & DJ Glaves of Brompton by Sawdon, Scarborough and all the fish is delivered daily from the east coast. The inn has an AA rosette awarded for culinary excellence which has been maintained for the past 15 years. Typical dishes such as a twice baked Lincolnshire poacher cheese souffle and a platter of fish cakes, little fish and chips, king scallop, salmon and aspargus salad are popular throughout the year. Other options include a Roast breast and leg of Guinea Fowl, sage crushed potato, asparagus and oyster mushroom cream or confit Duck Leg, chorizo, roast pepper and pea risotto, orange and watercress salad. Chefs specials are also offered for both lunch and dinner. Lighter lunches and an early evening supper menu are also offered daily such as a chargrilled minute steak, fries, pepper sauce and salad or onion rings or roast belly pork and black pudding, chive mash, apple sauce and crackling .All puddings are homemade and if you're struggling to decide what to choose, there is an assiette of puddings that has a little bit of everything - puddings change on a daily basis.Fresh bread is baked every morning and the chefs like to try different ingredients for evening dinners complimentary bread and olive. Flavours have included parmesan and chive or chorizo and sun dried tomato. Sundays bring traditional roasts with a range of different options - including beef, pork and lamb served with a Yorkshire Pudding and also a fish and a vegetarian dish. Accommodation is available all year round, and has been awarded 4 Stars from the English Tourism Council. ... more   less
