I have stayed at The Leaf Hotel now for the past 5 nights, and all in all I’m pretty happy with the overall experience! It is now under the management of Holiday Inn, and they’ve refurbished all of the rooms and are currently working on the public areas! Because of this, hotel facilities have not been accessible, ie the fitness centre and restaurant. However I was pretty impressed that the hotel was operating a free room service menu for breakfast and dinner. Albeit, both menus were very limited - however there was enough on both menus to suit those with most diets and tastes if you’re staying there for one night! However, as I stayed for 5 nights it would have been nice if the hotel had alternated the menu a bit so I wasn’t living on the same food for nearly a week. The food was about right in terms of price, £12.95 for fish and chips and £4.50 for sticky toffee pudding!

The room was kept very clean and tidy throughout my stay, the room cleaner did a fantastic job and can not fault her at all! I’d definitely stay at The Leaf again if I’m to visit Dover in the future!

Traffic noise from the main Dover to Canterbury Rd might be an issue for light sleepers. Using a two-night Buyagift voucher we found the hotel clean, comfortable and convenient for neighbouring attractions. In contrast to the previous night elsewhere, our Groupon funded evening meal proved a great success; we found both food and service to be excellent.

The Holiday Inn is located just outside of Dover with excellent road links to the surrounding area and attractions. The rooms are excellent and spacious with air conditioning and modern furnishings including safe and bar. Was slightly disappointed that there were no drawers in the room but there is plenty of shelving in the wardrobes.
The main reception area is the central hub with the bar, Italian restaurant and seating areas for Wi FI hook up points. It acts as a n atrium with the rooms all branching off the central hub. The staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. The bar prices are a tad excessive for what the place actually is. I spent close to a £100 within 2 nights and that was not on some bachelor stag night. Towards the end of my stay I actually ordered a half of IPA only to find that you do not receive a 50% reduction in price - my math's isn't that good but if you receive 50% less of something why does that not equate to a 50% reduction in price? I would therefore advise drinking locally or remortgaging your house prior to attending the bar. Failing that you could always make your excuses prior to your round coming round!-I wish I had, and so does my bank manager.

Lovely hotel. Friendly, efficient and helpful staff.
Room was a little compact but clean and comfortable.
The room was very warm as it was a hot day, however opening the windows did help. I’m sure if I’d asked for a fan they would accommodate.

We have stayed at this lovely hotel on a number of occasions in the past. It is convenient to the por, but away from the busy town of Dover.
The hotel is clean and Martin, on Reception made us particularly welcome. The bedroom was, as always wonderfully clean and the rooms have many of those special touched that so many hotels have done away with - good (and plentiful) tea & coffee making facilities and in the bathroom, individual soaps, shampoos etc and a shower cap. There was also a magnifying mirror.
In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Sadly, on leaving, martin told us that the hotel was being refurbished and I think will lose some of its attraction - I hope not.
Thank you once again for such a welcoming stay..

Average hotel, it's undergoing refurbishment and you can smell it in the rooms and corridors.
No hot chocolate available at breakfast (they tell you to buy one at Costa for £3.5) which I think is pretty bad for a "family hotel". Hot buffet and cold meats and fruit available.
Rooms are average size, bed is ok nothing special, pillow was too hard and high so quite uncomfortable.
Staff was very nice thou.
Good location for what I needed (visit the maritime academy) but would probably find somewhere else even if further away if back in the area.
For wifi use one registers with email, I registered for my laptop and then couldn't connect my phone as the email was already used and didn't allow a sign in option for already registered users.

Hello Tam_GB, Thank you for choosing us, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us your feedback. We are acknowledging the concerns you have raised; we apologize for the experience. We are currently in the process of renovating the property to give our guests a unique and fresh experience of what IHG has to offer. However, we should not use this as an excuse to allow the scent possible of construction to permeate into your room. We are determined to ensure that our hotels provide a combined sense of comfort and happiness with touches of real wonder and making the necessary changes would help us provide a better experience to all our guests in the future. Your observations has been raised with our Management team, so they can look into it more closely. On the other hand, it's nice to hear that you enjoyed the hot breakfast and found the property to be conveniently located near the Maritime Academy. At the end of the day, it is the smile that we see in our guests and the joy that you share of your stay that we always look forward to. I hope you will give us a chance by booking with us again to show you that your unsatisfactory stay was an exception. Again, thank you for sharing your comments. Safe Travels. The Leaf Hotel is just off the A2, 10 mins from Dover. When you see the sign on the left that says Ramada Hotel, take that turn and you are seconds away from a very comfortable place to stay. As a solo traveller I rarely take risks with personal security as getting a good nights sleep is so important. I had a standard double room with a large comfortable bed and bathroom. I love that most of the top hotels have the usb charging ports with the electrical sockets. After a cold and windy visit to the Dover Cliffs, it was lovely to have a nice hot bath at the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant and a Costas cafe so no worries about getting a good coffee. I opted for room service meals and was very happy with both my meals, the soup was fresh homemade, fish and chips were delish and nachos were fun. Everything is a little pricey but its all part of the experience.

Reception:
Friendly and helpful..
There was no waiting time when we arrived to check in at 2.30 pm.

Room / facilities:
Room number 258 is on the ground floor and is clean. The room is first room, right at the start of the long corridor to the rooms, and fronts onto the electric car charging station at the main hotel entry area.

The room gets noise from guests walking past in the hall, guests going to / from breakfast and dinner, not to mention those entering and exiting the hotel.
As a result of the room being right behind the electric car charge station, the car red lights reflect into the room constantly, lighting the room up, during the night.

The queen bed is very comfortable and pillows are to my liking.
The room feels cramped due to the amount of furniture. The large work chair, needs to be moved to be able to watch the large TV sitting on the work table. The small coffee table and small arm chair add clutter the room.

Self control air conditioning with a window that opens about 5cm.

Parking:
There is plenty of parking available at for no cost.

Wifi:
Complementary, , as to,pay for this Wifi, would be a total rip off.
I had to rely in my 3 G phone data, which was quicker than the hotel wifi. I cant comment on the speed as the signal was fat to weak and poor.

Even though our room was the first room from the reception area and I was lucky to get 1 bar of Wifi signal, receiving any data was painfully slow
Email address validation required.

Breakfast:
Available for additional cost, but not utilised on this stay.

Conclusion:
Extremely bad experience with the room allocated, wifi is a major letdown.

Letdowns:
No fridge, our room location, wifi signal.

Location / Nearby:
Walk to MCDonalds (when it reopens after renovations) , BP petrol station. Five min drive to Tesco Supermarket/Petrol, Lidl, KFC, Subway sandwich.

The information is not related to the hotel:
Beware:
No matter where you drive to in town or the UK, payment for parking is required. Most parking meters accept coin and card “tap” facilities (if functioning). Generally after 6.00pm or 8.00pm parking is free, in designated locations.

Dear NeilC2607, Thank you very much for taking your valuable time to write us a lengthy review. We are happy to see you liked the free parking and conferrable bedding. Very sorry to see you that you did not like the room you have been allocated and the WiFi was not fast enough. As you can appreciate it not possible hotel to control the noise people make when passing the room. Further, all rooms are equipped with 'Black out' curtains so guests can prevent any outside lighting coming through to the room. Further, if you had asked from 24h helpful reception team, they would have given you a room change to accommodate your demand. As per the records you have booked a standard room which do not have mini fridges. This have clearly mentioned in the room description. However, all our executive and family rooms equipped with mini fridges. We have noted your comments on WiFi speed and been forwarded to the relevant provider to take necessary action. We greatly appreciate your feedback as this gives us the avenue to improve on our guest satisfaction and we hope that you will consider us again on your next travel.

Another great way to see in the New Year. Canapés and fizz, followed by a delicious and well presented 5 course meal and rounded off by dancing to the Swinging Sixties Band. Hotel accommodation was comfortable and breakfast the following morning was plentiful with a good choice of hot and cold food. We were very satisfied and will come again next year.
