Great little spot right on a great snorkeling beach. We had 2 detached beachfront villas which had little kitchens and views of the beach. Staff were really friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The snorkeling right out the front was great, and it was just a swim away from Black Rock. The villas were down a little lane, so they were away from the road with no noise.

Perfect location, clean, spacious, nice swimming and beach directly infront, close to shops and restaurants. Would stay again. Basic but priced accordingly. Room was ready when we arrived at noon, bags stored after checkout. Very peaceful.

I thought this motel was perfect. Quiet, comfy, steps away from one of the nicest sandy beaches on the island. Most of the time there were no other people within view. Close to black rocks for amazing snorkeling! Restaurant nearby in another property. Grocery across the street, bakery closeby as well.

We spent just over two weeks here and it was so quiet, comfortable and enjoyable. We were very well looked after and although there is no pool the lagoon is 20 metres away so it is not required. Shaded by palm trees, white sand and a well kept garden. Facilities are not modern but are well maintained and more than adequate. good restaurants nearby and for a bit more action hop on the island busses.

So lucky to have booked and stayed at this motel. It was by far more than what constitutes a motel. Its quiet, its magical and ocean on the door step. So serene and beautiful, barely anyone around. Loved having our crab hunting dogs around who kept us a company upon arrival and departure. Yes there are some chickens around which added to the more cozy feel. Glad I didn't stay at a resort and enjoyed the paradise to myself even though the motel was fully booked you would never know. The staff and lovely, friendly and attentive. Would definitely be back and to this motel!! Location was great, bus stop right outside. Would recommend hiring a car in town or the airport. Not the ones across the road. The edgewater didn't have any cars at all so do your homework and preplan.

For every good thing about this place there seemed to be a disappointing thing too. The beach was lovely and close, 30 second walk. Beautiful sunsets from the beach and from the balcony of our room. The room was a decent size and bed was fairly comfortable. There is a friendly dog that lives there and he is a delight. Cleaning staff was a friendly guy who always asked how we were when we saw him. Unfortunately that's where it stops. Although the room had a roof fan it was always stuffy, no air con so could do with a fan that could be directed at the bed when sleeping. One of the days our shower didn't work, no water came out at all and going to the office there was no one there, this was a regular thing, finding someone in the office was a rarity. The have a "in an emergency" number but when something goes wrong but isn't an emergency do you call it?? Half the time the WiFi didn't work which is frustrating when you pay for it. There were always ants over the counters. We never knew when we were going to get clean towels which made taking them to the beach a risk if we couldn't get non sandy ones for the shower. The info in the room said every 3 days but we got new ones after one night and then not again until 4 days later. Some times the towels/face clothes etc were taken for cleaning but not replaced. People say you get what you pay for and I usually agree but unfortunately with this one we think we got a bit less than what we'd expected to. …

For your money what you get here is a bed and a bathroom- as well as direct access to the beach. This was fine for what I wanted- but there is no pool, nor beach towels provided- and no information in the rooms. There are a few bars, restaurants and shops nearby in Arorangi. Access to wi-fi was advertised but as the reception desk was occupied only at seemingly random times I had to ask another desk (also looking in vain for reception) how to access wi-fi; the answer was- go to the shop over the road and buy a voucher! I have since learned this is fairly standard in the Cook Is- but I didn't know that when I arrived. Motel did arrange a taxi to collect me from the airport and take me back there - so that worked ok. This property is advertised on a number of different booking sites at different prices- one site says they price match but when I emailed the motel they said they didn't (so I jusy booked via the cheaper site)…

The Reef is a place for those of us want to take care of themselves. It is clean and private and all you need for a quiet time just you your freind and a beach. Shop across the road means you don't need to go anywhere unless you want to. There are eating places within walking distance if you want to be waited on. Its a great place and very economical

We were placed in the unit above the office which gave us a great sea View from the balcony. The room was a good size and was appropriately decorated island style and although very basic, it offered us what we needed for our 6 day stay. The only downside was nothing to cook with and no microwave (but I didn’t go to Raro to cook)... lol. There was a jug and toaster. There was also a great restaurant 1 minutes walk away with the most gorgeous food! The Reef Motel has the most beautiful beach and I loved walking straight into the water as there is no real coral build up on this beach. I’d recommend renting a car as buses are full by the time they get to you. Cleaning lady was lovely and helpful. I would consider staying there again as when we moved to other accommodation I missed the Reef Motel and it’s beach. …
