We visited for a night this week, what can I say it was superb. From the decor to the warmth of the greeting and the size of the bed it is simply faultless. The lounges are amazing, comfy sofas and a real fire. There’s even a huge tv if that’s what you like. The food was great but the best part was the chat and friendliness of Sharon and Tracey who were without doubt the best chef/waitress we have had the pleasure to meet. The owners Jenny and Colin really want you to feel at home and that’s exactly what we did. See you soon!
We stayed here to break a journey. Real surprise. Lovely place with really friendly hosts and staff. We were told there was a supper menu and thought it would be snacks but the menu was great. Really lovely tasty home cooked food which was delicious. Real open fires and comfy chairs. You are really made to feel at home. Comfortable bed with good quality linen. Restaurant had proper linen napkins and tablecloth. Very tasty breakfast. Very convenient as right on A30. However, we heard no traffic during the night. Pretty gardens at the back ( even in January). So glad we stayed there and would definitely stay again.
We chose Honiton because we were visiting family and the hotel for its convenience. It turned out that Honiton is a charming town and the hotel was ideally situated as a base for exploring the area. It is on the roadside but our bedroom was at the back, quiet and overlooking beautiful gardens. The owners/staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Friendly and informal. The hotel was very clean. Nice touches were the gorgeous lounges, a large patio seating area out at the back along with garden, and the honesty bar if you fancy a drink. Breakfast was cereal, fruit, porridge and then a choice of full English or smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Vegetarian option too. Generous portions of good quality cooked food - kept us full on a long walk at the coast!
Booking an overnight stay for our Wedding Anniversary we arrived to a very warm welcome from owners Jenny & Colin and their friend/staff member Tracey on 22nd June 2019. Easily located off the A30 with plenty of onsite free parking in the pretty village of Monkton within rolling hillsides this friendly home has a great feel with plenty to offer. Shown around the property by Tracey the tastefully decorated and renovated Court Hall offers a large dining area for a personal meal (seating around 12), a breakfast area, bar/reception room as well as a big lounge area with large screen tv. Outside is a lovely terrace upon which to relax with three and a half acres to walk and get lost in if you prefer. Our Room, No.6, to the side of the building overlooked the house/old stables and was very quiet even with the windows open. The four poster with ensuite was extremely comfortable, very clean and afforded us a great nights sleep. The bathroom had a bath with a mixer tap and would benefit from an additional pump & separate shower for more power but as this property has clearly had a lot spent on it I’m assuming this will be an ongoing project. However, this made little difference to the enjoyment of our stay. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of juices, cereals, fried breakfast and toast all served to a high standard. I would happily recommend Court Hall to anyone and think it is a great base for Honiton (5-10 minutes) or Lyme Regis (30 minutes) as a couple or a family. We did not stay long enough to enjoy an evening meal which is also available upon request but if the breakfast and the owners willingness to please is anything to go by it will be above average. A big thank you to Court Hall for making our anniversary a memorable and enjoyable experience, one we hope to repeat again in the future.…
This ideal venue to take a break off the A30/A303 in Monkton has been spoilt by the decision to serve residents only. This was our usual break for many years on our journey to Cornwall. As others have mentioned, this would seem to have been a very bad management decision. Hopefully, they will have a change of mind.
