Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Magnificent house, very comfortable in a superb location. Great breakfast served on fine bone China. Owner and team were splendidly bonkers. The hall is a jewel of Pooley Bridge, not to be missed, plus dogs are accepted.

A beautiful, up-market bed and breakfast that must rank among the friendliest and most comfortable places I've ever stayed. The surrounding landscape and the breakfasts are exceptional, too. I can't recommend Barton Hall highly enough.

Beautiful B&B, as others have said it is like stepping back to the best bits of various periods of history. Very comfortable and will be visiting again. Lovely dog and child friendly area too. The views from all of the windows are worth the trip by themselves and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

What a place. 350 year old house beautifully decorated and furnished in period style. You feel you are stepping back in time but there are enough modern touches to provide comfort. I would just mention, the 4 poster beds are very high off the ground which was a concern to my 93 year old mother-in-law (she slept is separate single bed in same room). Also, there are no showers in the bathrooms (probs with planning permissions for listed building) but a sepoarate shower room was fine. Ailsa was the perfect host and as a dog owner herself, took great interest in our Leo. Dogs are allowed in the bedrooms but not the breakfast room (need to be put in car) which was no problem. Pooley Bridge was 5 min drive away or 10-12 min walk. The Crown provided a great evening meal. All in all, a wonderful overnight stop-off on way to Scotland.

Traditional and charming but also housing all of the mod cons that you would really need for a few nights away. A good pit stop to break up the journey back. Pooley bridge is a lovely little village to explore if you have a few hours

Alisa makes you feel so welcome. She is proud of her home and makes you feel at home. We loved it. The bedroom was so comfortable and the 4 poster bed was absolutely a winner. Staff were warm and welcoming. Went to breakfast in my slippers (like everyone else). Alisa makes sure you feel have what you need by providing a kitchen and a comfy lounge The house is wonderful. And so unique. We will be back!!

We were made very welcome in this beautiful grade II listed Country House, and very well looked after by Ailsa and her team. Our room was large and comfortable for our family of 3. There’s a large drawing room and guest kitchen to use alongside other guests.

Where do i start with Barton hall. From the moment you walk in the door of this lovely hotel you're made to feel welcome. The owner Ailsa and the staff are just wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is fantastic served in the beautiful dining room with a touch of Downton Abbey breakfast served as it should be. The rooms are very comfortable some with beautiful four poster beds. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We recently spent 2 nights at Barton Hall in Pooley Bridge. The owner, Eilsa was there to welcome us into her beautiful home. My first impression was one of ‘wow’. She showed us to the room, which the door was wedged open, she entered the room with us and briefly showed us around, it was lovely, such a nice thing experience, these days you pick a card up in reception and make your own way to your room, struggling upstairs and down dark dismal corridors, this is nothing like that. The décor was beautiful, very traditional, but very warm and welcoming. Our room was decorated stunning, and the carpet is something you would have in your own home, not in a bed and breakfast guest house. We had a roll top bath, beautifully clean bedding, and most of all comfortable! We have 2 children and a little dog and we all stayed in the same room! There is access to a living room and a kitchen, there is fresh milk in the fridge and tea and coffee facilities along with a tv in your room. Breakfast was superb! Freshly cooked when you arrive, in the stunning dining room. The food was great well presented, suitable for adults and kids. The kids loved the teapot being on the table, and helped themselves to cereal and fruit and yoghurt. The area of Pooley Bridge is lovely, if not somewhat busy, we had a fab time round the Lake and enjoyed some lovely food at The Sun Inn. We will definitely be back at Barton Hall, it is just perfect for us! The whole team were lovely, really welcoming!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are clean and spacious with everything you need. Lovely random decor which was good to look at and comfortable stay. Lovely communal areas and nice breakfast! Lovely staff throughout and quiet. May have been lucky with the other guests but it was like we had the whole place to ourselves!
