We stayed in the Garden Room which was beautifully situated and so quiet. The walks around the hotel grounds were beautiful. We had a 5 course meal in the evening which was excellent tho very rich. Our table had a window view over the lake. The hotel is impressive tho tired ... once was enough as very expensive.

We didn't stay at the hotel, just had lunch there. The hotel is smaller than it looked from the website but is every bit as grand and beautifully furnished. The location is stunning. A real country house ambiance with attentive welcoming staff. We had lunch which was OK. Nothing special in the taste or presentation. The crockery was good quality...

Dear Stanley F, I must contradict some of your comments, normally I take customer feedback on board as it is usually constructive, however some of your comments are objectively inaccurate, Our staff all have smart uniforms, most of them very recently purchased from a well known and well respected Penrith supplier. Our Through the Ages Lunch is extremely well priced,...

This was a truly lovely occasion once again. The last time we came here for dinner, bed and breakfast was 23 years ago .....a present bought for us by our family to celebrate our silver wedding. This time it was another present bought by our family to celebrate a big birthday! We enjoyed our stay this time as much as...

Spoilt ourselves with lunch at this iconic Country House Hotel. They are offering a special 'Through the Ages' lunch menu. Beautiful surroundings which cannot really be beaten on a sunny day. Very attentive staff who were professional and helpful. Food was lovely - a mix of traditional and nouveau with such courses as steak and kidney pudding and beautifully decorated...

Dear JMH4, our Sharrow Through the Ages lunch is very popular, our March one was particularly nostalgic, (hence the Steak and Kidney Pudding). It is currently the best value fine dining lunch with a choice, in the lakes. Thank you for your kind comments, and I look forward to welcoming you back to Sharrow Bay soon. Kind regards, Oliver.

Firstly, this hotel sits in an amazing setting with the most stunning views. It's tranquil and its peaceful. It makes you feel like you have left the rat race. The hotel has not changed in many years and it retains its elegance. The afternoon tea menu has somewhat changed from last time we visited. No toasted tea cakes, no sandwiches...

Dear BrianW, as you note, we have recently changed our Afternoon Tea Menu. Yes, we have now omitted the teacake - however there are still sandwiches served, a selection of open topped ones on a choice of differing breads, as well as the addition of sausage rolls and ratatouille tartlets, to enhance the savoury offer. Do you mean there were...

I first stayed at this Hotel 30 years ago. It has always been always special. My Son and Daughter in law gave me the gift of afternoon tea for two at Sharron bay for Mother's Day. Yesterday my Mother and I had the most wonderful afternoon tea. It is so peaceful, staff and service excellent. Decor an ambiance delightful. Than...

We visited the Hotel only for tea and scones by the waterside on a lovely Wednesday afternoon in early May. Amazing views over the lake only spoiled by the scones and quality of service. The tea was OK ! The service can only be described as rather sullen and the scones were not as ordered, appeared to be old and...

We have just returned from a one-night stay to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. A selfish treat really, as I have wanted to stay here since I was 17 - and it didn't disappoint. Yes, it's expensive, but it is absolutely perfect and very definitely a fabulous treat once in a while. The Princess room was spacious and very comfortable...

Dear BinksyNr_York_UK, Happy Birthday to your husband - we're happy we could help you celebrate in style, (you could have made a special request for the Sticky Toffee Pudding - it is heavenly). How lovely you made that cultural link, the cultural heritage can be overshadowed by the landscape and the view. We hope we can welcome you back to...
