Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the taster menu. It was totally delicious, incredible detail and presented exquisitely. Service was perfect too. It’s pricey but worth every penny. Would highly recommend and will be returning again.

Absolutely amazing place … luxury from start to finish. We were in Room7 which has a small seating area with settee and TV, a beautiful double bed (very comfortable) and en-suite. Breakfast has to be ordered the night before, perfectly cooked and lovely waitress.

What a amazing evening with the wife!! Probably the best food I’ve ever tasted, so clever and so many flavours. The wine pairing journey was lovely too, although more than we would normally pay for a evening out, it was worth every penny. Thank you

Lovely hotel, perfect location in Pooley Bridge at top of the village so a bit quieter but close to shops/cafe/pubs if needed. Friendly staff who accommodated my request for an early breakfast. Nicely furnished room with everything you needed. Stayed in Room 1 which was at the back so no road noise although some noise of music from restaurant below the room (it was very quiet after service had finished though) Would definitely recommend.

The food, service, venue, was all incredible. The extra touches being a birthday celebration was a nice surprise and totally recommend the wine flight with the tasting menu, it just works. Well worth the money. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

Great place. Staff very friendly and engaging. The place is amazing. Very welcoming, spacious, no football, reading has been screaming for this for years, and it’s central. The popcorn chicken is amazing. The Shiraz is also excellent. Strongly recommended.

We were met with a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. We stayed over and also had the taster menu. The room was small but perfect, high end toiletries, tea and coffee. The bed was really comfortable too. The food was excellent. If you like a taster menu you should give this one a try, every course was delicious. Highly recommend the rooms and the taster menu.

We made the journey from Cheshire and stayed on Sunday 23/10/22. The room and bathroom were excellent, as was the bed and linen. We ate in the restaurant (choosing the 3 course menu at £65pp) and were delighted with the choice, quality and appearance of the food and with the service. The chef is producing some fabulous dishes and we agree with a previous reviewer that a Michelin Star is within reach. There was much to interest us on the Wine List, including the option to have a number of wines in a 50ml serving- perfect for my wife who likes variety but not too much quantity. The breakfast was also very good- I had the Cumbrian Breakfast and my wife had the Eggs Benedict. We will certainly return (and have already recommended it to a friend, who would have gone this weekend had it not been fully booked). All in all, this is a little Cumbrian gem. John and Elaine

Located on the High Street in Pooley Bridge, we stayed for three nights as part of a driving tour of the Lake District. We had a large attic room with a nice seating area with a comfy sofa in front of the TV. This was important as the restaurant didn't have a lounge area where you could sit before or after dinner. The en-suite bathroom was excellent with a walk in shower. Dinner lived up to our expectations from this highly rated restaurant. The fixed price menu (£65 per head) include a amuse bouche, three courses followed by coffee and sweets. Most unusually each course came with a paired wine ( extra cost) which we tried on the first night and it was so good we did it every night. The quality of the food was outstanding but very nouvelle cuisine which left us wanting a bit more! Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the night before which is a bit annoying as you don't know that far in advance what you will feel like for breakfast. However, despite that the breakfasts were extremely good and beautifully presented. Service was very efficient and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Overall we had a fantastic experience, we had the 7 course taster menu and quite often you get a course that’s meh. Tonight it was simply fantastic, different tastes and textures throughout. We drove and they provided a great selection of Non alcoholic drinks to make the experience feel special. Finally the coffee had the perfect creama that seems to elude most places. A great night overall.
