Had a wonderful stay here. The owners Eric and Pranee were very friendly, approachable and accomodating hosts who went out of their ways to make your stay a pleasant one. Nicely decorated room, very spacious and clean with tv and fridge. Fresh fruits were served at every meals. Highly Recommend👍👍👍

We have been returning to the Mai Siam Resort in the Chiang Mai region for over 10 years on every trip to Asia. Never the slightest disappointment, quite the contrary.
Eric and Pranee do everything to make the stay comfortable, relaxing and interesting.
As for the meals, breakfast included, they are unforgettable experiences.
The rooms in the permanent bungalows are superb, large, nicely decorated, the bathroom is great.
The wifi is perfect.
The very vast exotic garden is magnificent.
Rental of bicycles and motorcycles possible.
Only happiness.

This is our 4th stay at Mai Siam Resort. We stayed 5 nights. Pranee and Eric gave us a warm welcome, as usual. Spacious rooms, tastefully decorated in the middle of a beautiful garden. In the evening, Thai specialties and in the morning a delicious breakfast. Pranee introduced us to Thai cuisine, and introduced us to the trees and plants in her garden. Eric advised us on interesting visits to the region. This is still our best stopover in Thailand.

The three bungalows are very nicely furnished. The garden is very pleasant. Eric and Pranee (the franco-thai couple managing the resort) are friendly. But the whole is overpriced (1850 bath for a room with AC), given the location : 25 km, 30 to 50mn from Chiang Mai (300 bath the transfer, one way), and no access to point of interest in the vincinity without a car or a motorbike.
Beyond the cost, the transfer may also be time consuming : on the last day, as Eric was busy, my transfer to Chiang Mai was delayed of 90mn, and realised in a songtaew (nicely local, but a bit uncomfortable with ca. 40°c, and a bit basic for a resort that cost you 4300 bath for 2 nights).

We stayed with Eric and Pranee, their beautiful daughter, Dor and all the Mai Siam staff over the New Years period for five days. The wonderful reviews on this site are all well deserved. The whole Mai Siam family were so welcoming, and gracious and could not do enough for us regardless of the time of day or night. We felt like part of the family. Pranee is an amazing cook and we gave her free rein to feed us as many local dishes as possible........meal prices were so affordable. Our five day cost was around six hundred dollars Canadian which included room, two lunches, four dinners, New Years Eve special buffet, wine and beer, plus every day we were driven all around Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas by "Uncle" the driver. We were also given a cell phone so we could be picked up whenever suited us. Oh I forgot, this price also included two massages plus many packages of curry paste that Eric so kindly picked up for us from the market. Service was always with a smile and they taught us so much about Thai culture and the surrounding areas.

As stated by other posts the bungalows and grounds are beautiful. Great beds and bathroom.....very clean.

The drive to Chiang Mai is 30 mins but no big deal..........returning to the peace of Mai Siam at the end of the day was priceless.

On a final note.......my husband left his iPhone in the safe the day of our departure and did not realize this until later in the day when we arrived in Cambodia. Upon contacting Eric and Pranee they went out of their way to return it to us at our next stop in Koh Lanta. Pranee called us twice in Koh Lanta to make sure the package had arrived safely. It is hard to find such honest people in this world and we thank them very much for their kindness.

Thank you Trip Advisor for helping me find this wonderful place, we have made new friends that we look forward to seeing again in the near future.

Enjoyed cycling and the food.
Few problems....
The resort gates were locked at 5pm one afternoon so I had to climb the gate to get back in post my bike ride.

Our clothes and camera equipment where backed away into cupboards and drawers, which was so frustrating because we couldn't find our things.

Pranee didn't listen to what we said regarding when we would b having breakfast and rudely woke us up at 6:30am, by banging our window. Pranee was quite overbearing and treated us like children.

Pranee looked after us re tourist stuff, I asked about going to the white temple, she said too far. However 3 days later Eric drove a couple there. My advise speak to Eric re tourist activities etc.

You eat dinner, when Pranee serves it, which can be quite late.

You receive a bill on the last morning for everything ( accommodation, food, transport etc), so make sure u have plenty of cash.

If you are looking for a different experience in Thailand then this would be it. Not knowing quite what to expect to say we were blown away at how welcome we were made would be an understatement.

Pretty bungalow accommodation in lovely grounds were the ideal tonic and a great way to relax after a long year without holidays. From collecting us at the airport to our trips around the countryside transport was never a problem and there are some fabulous things to see around Chaing Mai.

What can I say about Eric and Pranee your most gracious hosts. Food to die for served in a gentle and soothing atmosphere. With only 3 bungalows on the property it's not crowded and lots of personal attention. Family and staff all pitch in, that only adds to the laid back feel.

Out of 15 days in Thailand I can honestly say that the 3 days spent at Mai Siam were the standout. Do yourself a favour give this resort a go.

Eric, Pranee, sorry for my late review. We have just returned from our fantastic trip in Thailand. We had fantastic time with you in Chang Mai. You have helped us in every way, driving us everywhere at a very cheap price, cooked for us, helped us to choose the best tours and many more. It was an amazing start to our holiday. One of the best places to stay in Thailand if you look for relaxation, peace and genuine hospitality.
As there are only 3 rooms, which are well spaced throughout the grounds, there is a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility here. Also the rooms are very well equipped and have everything you could possibly need even wi-fi where in some 5 star hotels this is at a price. Highly recommended but please book in advance as you may not be so lucky and find an available chalet. Staying at the Mai Siam Resort is not like staying in a hotel, you are a valued guest for these nice hosts. For us, it was more like staying with good friends and we felt so much at home. When we left we knew we would be back some day. If you have a chance to stay here then do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed. Its gems like the Mai Siam that bring true meaning to the Land of Smiles!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon in April. Pranee and Eric are so welcoming and nice. The booking process was very simple and email communication is very fast. It was so nice to meet Pranee and Eric. Pranee made me feel like we had been friends for a long time! She is an amazing cook too. My husband talks about her rice porridge with fried pork every day - we would love the recipe :-)

The property is beautiful - you can tell they work very hard to make it what it is. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable.

Eric and Uncle are very helpful with rides to/from town. That is the only downfall. It's about a 40 minute drive to town. We very much enjoyed staying at Mai Siam, however we were only there for 3 days. If we'd had more time, the distance may have not been an issue, but we felt like a lot of time was spent travelling to/from town. We probably would have preferred to stay in town, so we could come and go as we pleased. We felt bad staying in town too late when Uncle or Eric were just waiting for us to be ready to get picked up. Chiang Mai is an amazing town. Lots of art, great CHEAP food, amazing night markets, wonderful massages.. we had a blast!

Pranee and Eric were also very helpful in booking activities for us prior to our arrival. I would definitely recommend staying at Mai Siam - just know that it is a good drive to/from Chiang Mai. Thanks for making our stay so great!

Family of four -- stayed for three nights. We wanted to leave after the first night. We had great difficulty finding the place. Here is an insider's tip for Eric and Pranee: put a sign in front of the gate so we know we're at the right place! Or put lat-lon coordinates on the website, so we can put into our gps. When we did finally find the place, there was great confusion between our family and another party they had booked but canceled at the last minute. Pranee spent a long time hanging around in our room while we were trying to settle in -- give us some privacy, please! She tried to mother our children, who openly indicated that they did not want her attention.

Bathroom towels were rough and dirty. No lock on the door to the "chalet," by the way, which was left open during the day for anyone, including mosquitos and flies, to come and go as they please. A large planter full of water near the door provided an excellent mosquito nursery.

What more can I say: cold shower, cold coffee at a freezing outdoor breakfast, while essence of manure drifts by on the breeze. Reminded me a lot of boy scout camp, except the cots were more comfortable in the scouts!

More could be said, but we're getting upset just thinking about it. Don't stay here.
