We came for a business trip and our first night out was here in the private grounds. The food and wine was impeccable. We had Marlborough Figs, Cranky Goat cheese, Storm clams, and silver fern farms eye fillet. Beautiful!!

Great hospitality by our host Michael and chef Elenora. Great location for wine tours. We even drove into Havelock about 1/2 hour drive for lunch at the Mussel Pot and went on the Green Mussel tour. Very interesting tour because we were right next to a harvesting boat. Lovely time at the lodge. Barry the owner gave us a private...

We visited Timara Lodge in February 2017. It's in a beautiful setting, with fabulous gardens/lake and very comfortable room. The owners and their host Michael are very friendly and the chef Eleonora did everything in their power to make sure we were well fed and looked after.

A wonderful stay with the wonderful hosts at this beautiful property. It was more like staying with good friends than staying in a 'hotel'! The food was excellent and it was nice to see some healthy options such as the home-made kombucha and beet juice for breakfast. It would be great if they had a spapool. Also, a yoga /...

We were the only guests at the lodge for a couple of days. We felt like royalty. Mike (the host) and Eleanora (the chef) were both wonderful. They served fantastic wines and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed walking the grounds which are great. Convenient to activities in the area. It is very quiet and the internet connection is not...

I should start by saying I read many of the other 17 reviews on Timara Lodge, and almost all no longer are current because new ownership assumed the property December 2015. The new owner Barry is quite gregarious and chatty, extremely proud to show off the exquisite , magnificent gardens and lake on the property with a personal tour. This...

This was our third trip to Timara. The website still shows Louis - the world class chef as the host. He is not there anymore. We thought the meals the first two times were some of the best food we had ever eaten - truly extraordinary. This time oh what a letdown. If you had not eaten Louis food this...

Barry W, Manager at Timara Lodge, responded to this review

Lake Timara Lodge holds an extremely high rating on Trip Advisor, on Andrew Harper Alliance and in many other notable world luxury traveller publications. The whole team at Timara are so very disheartened by this review done by one of our repeat guests. Management, the host and the executive Chef were totally unaware of this guest dissatisfaction. Whilst here this...

This lodge is well located for the Marlborough wine region, and set in beautiful grounds. Our room along with the communal areas, was comfortably and tastefully furnished and decorated-perfect to relax in. The meals are delicious, cooked by a talented chef and the communal dining was a pleasant experience. We were looked after very well by Deborah and Pamela. If...

Lake Timara Lodge has only 4 rooms and is located in one of the most spectacular gardens one can imagine. All flowers are huge, there seems to be a micro climate or special vibrations. Its story is also interesting and related to the building of the railway. Artwork is also present in the gardens and a rowing boat invites you...

The website for Timara Lodge almost doesn't do it justice. The house and gardens are absolutely stunning. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the two suites overlooking the lake which I would highly recommend for the best views. Most importantly when you stay at Timara, make time to just walk through the gardens or relax in the...
