Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A warm Scottish welcome on arrival. The owner and staff introduced themselves and called us by our names throughout . The hospitality could not have been better. Excellent food and service. A coorie gem of a hotel - Scottish hospitality at its best.

The guys who run the hotel were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent. Rooms are dated though. Stopped on a tour of the NC500 staying at 5 hotels this was the most expensive (only just) and the worst rooms (by some distance) in terms of comfort and modern standards.

Perfectly located just a few miles after the famous Bealach na Bà (Applecross Pass) on the NC500, just when you need to pull in and have a drink... there is no better place to have that drink! We stayed in 9 locations in 20 days (1700 miles) in Scotland - and this place was the only places that made us feel like we were truly in Scotland. The owners and even the locals care, and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. No, the hotel is not a Hilton - so don't expect it. But everything that we would have picked apart in a Hilton - we overlooked here... because this family owned place was just lovely to stay at. If you are expecting a 5 star accommodations as at the Ritz - go somewhere else. This is Scotland, and this place oozes that Scottish charm - the Ritz to us!

Absolutely loved this place! The family that runs this hotel are so hospitable and want to make sure you are as comfortable as humanly possible. Make sure you go to their bar to get some of that amazing food, drinks, and hospitality!

I thought the Strathcarron would just be a handy place to stop on a road trip, but it was excellent.. great food, comfortable room, friendly host, close to lovely places like Plockton and Torridon, a great place to have a break from travelling.

We stayed here on the 6th September whilst we were with friends doing the NC500. I can honestly say we all had a great stay here, and the service that Richard and Becca gave was absolutely fantastic! Nothing was ever too much trouble and she made us all feel at home. We stayed as a large group here whilst on our adventure, and they really looked after all of us. This was our first stop off and we were all on such a buzz, the weather was amazing. We ate dinner in the hotel and had a rather boozy night, We explained to Becca that we had an early start and most of the group wanted to get off early and we had paid for breakfast, bless her she said she would make up packed lunches for them all to take with them which she did that night! And also a lovely bacon roll and teas for me and Hannah. The service that we received made this the best start to our trip and it really was fantastic trip! So glad we stayed here and very grateful for Becca and Richard. x

Arrived as a tired cyclist. Left with a renewed faith in hospitality and a spring in my step (pedal?). The hotel is comfortable and clean. My room was spacious and well equipped. However, the thing that makes this place special is the genuinely warm welcome on arrival. Richard made me feel at home immediately - and his low key advice about a decent beer, and excellent homely delicious food (both evening meal and breakfast were spot on) were clearly part of the laid back service. The fact that he was effortlessly and unpretentiously on first name terms with all guests (as well as locals) says it all. In an age when hotels are reviewed on the basis of their wifi speed or the corporate freebies in the shower… I’m so glad places like this still exist. (BTW the music in the bar was super!) Couldn’t recommend the whole experience more.

Outstanding hospitality and generosity from our hosts at the Strathcarron hotel. We stayed at the hotel whilst walking the Cape Wrath Trail and when we arrived late, hungry and tired after our long days walk, the owners showed no hesitation in making sure that we were fed and watered. Even the dog got a royal welcome. And we were very grateful for the lift along the main road to save us a last couple of miles on tired legs. We couldn’t have had a better stay. Thank you

Cape Wrath walkers Camp, refuel and possible have a beer or three! Great value camp site. Ok it's next to a road and basic, but their is a good hot shower and toilets available to use in the hotel. Food options good and quality, price spot on. Staff friendly and helpful.
