We had a fantastic weekend stay at Gowanbank House while in the area for a friend's wedding. The house and grounds are beautiful and the bedroom was bright and comfortable. Isabel and Willy made us feel at home and provided a delicious breakfast and home-made afternoon cakes.

We were visiting family in the town and was given accommodation at the Gowanbank. The moment you pull up the drive, you know this place is special - very special. When you meet Isabella and Willie, you meet a very warm and friendly couple, that make your stay easy. Our room, had everything - enormous bedroom, tastefully decorated and furnished... More

A lovely ran guest house by the very pleasant owners who go out their way to create a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout your stay. A lovely building with great rooms and grounds. I could not fault it. Rooms are bright and airy with everything catered for. A nice little twist are the fresh cakes on arrival. Food great too.... More

What a lovely place. Isobel and Wally provided a really warm welcome, literally. The beautiful inglenook fireplace was lit on a really cold August evening. We didn't arrive until 9pm which wasn't a problem for them and the lamps were lit in our room and the curtains drawn. All of which was lovely after a really long drive. The room... More

This is just what you would expect from a traditional Scottish B&B, a friendly welcome and comfortable surroundings. Very clean, nice cotton sheets and a 'comfy' bed. Nothing is too much trouble and of course you have a 'guid' breakfast. Intend to return.

I inadvertently put the Gowanbank B&B in Newmilns through a test beyond any they might have been given by a hotel inspector. Having just purchased a new car in order that I would have no problems in what was my busiest month of the year, I found myself with a car which did not go at all on my second... More

Gownbank sits proudly at the top of a long drive. The view over the valley is fantastic. Isabel and Wille are wonderful hosts and within seconds you are on first name terms. They are so welcoming. Room was very comfortable with an excellent power shower. Very good breakfast looking out through the big picture window over the valley. Used as... More

This is without doubt the best bed and breakfast we have stayed in. The house creates the perfect first impression as you go up the drive towards the house. An impression that is not let down when you walk through the door. Isobel and Willie are the perfect hosts and make you feel welcome and a valued guest. The breakfasts... More

My partner and I stayed for one night. We were heading to Glasgow but wanted to stay somewhere a little more in the countryside. We were pleased with our choice! Gowanbank is clean and modern with good amenities and speedy wifi, but is also traditionally restored and has some beautiful details. Our hosts, Isabel and Willie were so lovely! They... More
