Travellers' Choice
The Laurels B&B is ideally situated in the small village of Oakamoor, enjoying fabulous views across the valley, set in a quiet, relaxing rural environment. Surprisingly, it's also just one and a half miles from Alton Towers and close to The Peak District National Park and The Potteries. This is an ideal base for theme park fun, walking, cycling or rest and relaxation. The Laurels is just a short walk away from a friendly local pub. There are also many restaurants and pubs catering to a wide range of tastes within a few miles of The Laurels. Alton Towers is only a 5 minute drive away, so with the new Wicker Man now open, this is a perfect base for enjoying this amazing theme park. There are 8 guest rooms at The Laurels consisting of double, twin and family rooms, all of which have private facilities and are equipped with colour televisions and tea and coffee making facilities.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2022. Phil is a lovely host, room was perfect, clean tidy and even had a nespresso coffee machine. Breakfast was fantastic and all freshly cooked. Nothing was a bother to them. Beautiful area to stay and just a 5 minute drive to Alton towers. Local pub is less than a minute walk and made to feel very welcome in there. Can not recommend the B & B enough and will definitely be back again hopefully later in the year.

We stayed here this year (our first time) as we’d booked for the Alton Towers Fireworks Extravaganza and preferred to stay local overnight and save the drive. What a gem of a place this is! - We received an extremely warm welcome when we got there and shown our room with a quick explanation of where to find guides for all the ‘techy stuff’. The room was lovely, a proper home from home feel. The minibar was really well stocked and very reasonably priced, with a tray full of free tea/coffee (not the usual 1 or 2 you usually get) as well as a coffee pod machine. Wireless charging for your phones and even Netflix are another couple of things you don’t normally get elsewhere. Breakfast is fantastic! A choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, toast, fruit juice, tea and coffee, as well as a full English breakfast with your eggs however you like and a couple of other things to choose from. If you ever need to stay local to Alton Towers, or even just the area in general, this is your place to go. We liked it so much that we’ve already booked 2 return trips next year!

My wife and I stayed at The Laurels for 3 nights during the October half term and we absolutely loved our time there. In fact, we loved our room so much that we cut our activities short on our final night just to go back and enjoy our room. The Laurels is tremendously cosy and the room we stayed in was so comfortable and luxurious. The mattress was that comfortable that is has inspired us to go out and purchase a new one ourselves!! The Halloween decorations throughout the B & B were such fun, I have never seen an establishment go to such effort for Halloween and the stand outs were Gerard standing in place to greet guests on arrival and the group of witches standing guard just outside our room! Simply brilliant!! We would LOVE to stay at the Laurels again and couldn’t recommend it enough. If you are going to Alton Towers or any other attraction near Oakamoor, you really should stay at The Laurels. Not only is the place a perfect home away from home, the price is very reasonable and Phil and Helen are the perfect hosts. If there was one bit of constructive criticism we could mention, and it is very very minor, it would be to have a couple of towel hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang towels/ dressing gowns etc. But apart from that very small point, it was the PERFECT stay!! We really hope to be back again soon. 😁

Absolutely charming B&B located close to Alton Towers. Room beautifully clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Lovely breakfast included in the price. Many thanks to Phil (the owner) who was a perfect host - even offered to carry our heavy suitcase up the stairs which was much appreciated. Will definitely return again when we are next in the area.
