Frogwell self catering accommodationis situated approximately 4 miles from the hustle and bustle of Dartmouth, Devon and is one of the oldest houses in Strete dating back to the 16th century. It is within walking distance of the famous award winning Blackpool Sands beach . We are ideally placed to explore many of the fabulous local attractions The Self Catering Studio is a luxury and superbly appointed large private studio with panoramic views over the beautiful local Devon coastline. Situated separate to the main house with its own access and parking this is a spacious, light, airy, vaulted, centrally heated room with its own private en-suite facilities including balcony and patio. The kitchen contains a oven/grill, ceramic hobs and large fridge with freezer compartment This studio is very well suited to couples seeking some privacy.

We stayed three nights in a self contained apartment over the garage that looked out over rolling hills to the sea. There was a lovely coastal track at the rear of the premises leading down to nearby beaches. The apartment was spacious, with room to open both our suitcases. It had a well equipped kitchenette, and good shower. The apartment was light and airy, with lots of windows, and a sliding door onto a rear balcony overlooking a field with a herd of cows. What impressed us most was how well designed the apartment was, making the best use of the available space. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable apartment on the Devon coast.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay here which was ideal of our needs and location Room was compact but what we needed. Beautifully clean and everything you needed However a little disappointed the description of ‘self-catering’ can not really be used to describe this space. We had a bed and en-suite with a dressing table and tea and coffee making facilities. No self catering amenities whatsoever. I would describe it as more of a guest house. I think there is a studio room which offers self catering amenities but certainly is not the case for all of the rooms. A shame after we brought food a snacks for our stay and no where to store them / went to waste! Good location to Blackpool sands beach and Dartmouth

I loved the hosts, very easy going. Most beautiful location. I stayed for two nights and enjoyed my lovely cosy cottage. Had a wonderful roll top bath. Spent one night in my cottage and happily consumed wine and nibbles (bought from Sainsbury's in next town), the other meal I enjoyed at pub within 5 minutes walk.

Myself and my partner recently stayed at Frogwell. We stayed in one of the rooms attached to the house, with its own entrance. The owners responded quickly to emails prior to the visit and from arrival to departure were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was absolutely gorgeous, spacious and really clean. It has its own bathroom which again was lovely and clean and well stocked with toiletries. The only thing that could be an issue for some is there’s a bath (although gorgeous!) with a hand held shower hose meaning water did go over onto the floor at times. Leading from the back of the property is a lovely walk down to forest cove which is quiet and secluded and so clean. The paths to and from the beach (can be accessed via the main road too) are very steep. A visit to the Start Bay inn for fish and chips is a must!…

Perfect little hideaway. Had the most amazingly relaxing few days. The room was lovely, with a huge roll top bath and big bathroom. It was immaculately clean and beautifully presented. I couldn't recommend it enough, it is room only but there are a couple of places close by which do lovely reasonably priced breakfasts. A car is needed to get around but there are plenty of walks ( weather permitting) The owners were very friendly and helpful recommending places to visit and eat. Would definitely visit again.

I stayed here at the weekend and it was such a beautiful place. I don't know where to begin with my review! It is located in a very small village, up on a hill with sea views. There are lots of surrounding beaches - one was a small private beach with little caves, which you could only reach by foot. Or a short drive down the hill to the beautiful Blackpool sands. The water was so clear you would forget you were still in the UK. You could also drive the other direction to torcross where there is a 4 mile long beach and on the other side of the road a fresh water lake! The hosts were very welcoming and the room was decorated very tastefully. When we arrived they explained the local area, restaurants and points of interest during our stay which was really helpful. We stayed in the garden room which was a double room with an en-suite. The room was great, however lots of other guests did pass by our windows along the path, and had direct view into the room, so it's an idea to keep the blinds shut! The price was a little high considering they do not offer breakfast, however the location was beautiful. I would highly recommend staying here for a long weekend. There are lots of beaches to visit, quaint cafes and you can drive to Dartmouth town as well. I would suggest having a car though because its quite a remote area. You have to go and see this place for yourself! …

Just got back from a wonderful stay at Frogwell. Linda and Derek are perfect hosts. So helpful and willing to advise you on any aspect about the surrounding area. We stayed 3nights in the Studio, which is beautifully laid out, so light and the balcony suitable for Alfresco dining. The following two nights we stayed in The Garden Room.Again bright and light with the best shower we have ever encountered. The bed linen in both these rooms is first class. Both units are Room only but with faclities of tea coffee making, and The Studio has a fridge, cooker, and pots and pans of the highest standard. Thankyou so much and we hope to see you in the future.

We have previously been to Frogwell when we stayed in the garden apartment, that visit was very good. But we spied the studio apartment and vowed to book it next time we came, hence this review. Both times we have stayed here we have been greeted warmly by Linda and Derek, they cannot do enough for you. The garden apartment was very comfortable but the studio apartment gives you that special edge with the balcony and the view. Our four nights here really chilled us out and Frogwell has now become one of our favourite places. The accomodation is easy to find, has a bus stop within 60 yards which gives you options to drop down into Dartmouth or take a trip to Kingsbridge. The South West coastal path runs across the bottom of the property and presented us with a challenging but thoroughly satisfying six mile walk into Dartmouth, the views are quite breath taking in places. The Laughing Monk and Radius 7 are within easy reach if you are looking for excellent dining. Unfortunately the Kings Arms in Strete closed late last year but there are some equally good pubs within a few miles. We love Dartmouth and the surrounding area, if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of Dartmouth then Frogwell needs to be your choice, it offers a more tranquil option with scope to get around and discover other aspects of South Hams. Hopefully we will be back soon.…

We arrived late and were welcomed and shown to our room. It was very comfortable, warm and we were offered fresh milk for tea/coffee making. The ensuite has a bath which I enjoyed. The coastal path goes right past Frogwell and breakfast at Venus, Blackpool Sands is highly recommended.

Me and my partner booked a last minute break to stay in Strete for the end of summer, we were delighted when we arrived to find a lovely cosy room, it had everything we could have wanted with Dartmouth and Salcombe not far away. We were greeted by Linda who made us feel very welcome and informed us with places to eat and visit which was very helpful! I recommend Frogwells very highly we had a wonderful stay here and will definitely be back!
