#2 of 2 Speciality lodging in Strete
A Victorian property with a pretty walled garden, Roxburgh House is a comfortable and homely Bed and Breakfast located in the centre of Strete, close to the pub and the PO/shop . Strete is ideal for walkers as it is on the South West Coast Path and there is also a regular local bus service to the historic town of Dartmouth where there are many interesting shops, sights and eateries. Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe are also only a few miles away. At Roxburgh House you can enjoy reasonably priced, comfortable accommodation and a wholesome, varied breakfast, locally sourced where possible. You can choose from the separate twin- bedded barn in the garden with its own living area or a smaller double bedroom in the main house, both well –appointed with TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi. Well behaved dogs welcome. The owner, Ingrid, has recently retired and is keen to welcome you to her cosy Victorian home which was once the village post office. She is always on hand to advise you about where to go and what to do. There are many books, maps and brochures of the area which you may borrow and Ingrid is happy to recommend walks, activities and restaurants nearby and provide you with anything which will make your stay more comfortable.

We stayed in the barn in August And I really cannot fault anything about the location, accommodation and our wonderful host Ingrid. The barn is a separate annex to the main house set in a beautiful garden with access to its own outside terrace. Inside, every detail has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and complete. Clearly Ingrid has been doing this for years and has perfected the fine art of hosting, Which she does with flair and generosity of spirit. If you are feeling a little jaded from inflated air b&b prices that fail to deliver on their promise, just turn off the road at slapton sands and find the Roxburgh- you won’t be disappointed.

Just got back from a 3 night break at Roxburgh house in Strete village. Ingrid is an absolutely fantastic host, super friendly and helpful in every way. Had an absolutely wonderful stay, and she probably does the best breakfast in Strete! Really didn't want to leave today , will definitely be back , and 100% recommend to everyone. Thanks for having us.

My girlfriend and I stayed here whilst attending an event in nearby Dartmouth. We stayed in the barn annexe and we're very impressed with the spacious and clean facility we were presented with. Ingrid, the host, is a welcoming and lovely lady who went over and above to make sure we were comfortable. I accidentally left the key in Dartmouth with my family and she was more than happy to provide us with a spare until we could return the original. Ingrid cooks breakfast in the morning to whatever specification you want and it was delicious. 10/10 would stay again.
