When we visit York, we normally stay in the city, but price and timing forced us to look further out this time, and so glad we did too! This place is about 20 minutes drive north east of the city, run by the lovely Carole. Full marks for every effort. Clean, well equipped and specified everywhere, plus a superb full...

We visited Claxton Hall for two nights after booking it online. We were not at all disappointed. We stayed in a quaint but spacious room with everything you could possibly require. The ensuite was large and well equiped too. Our breakfast was lovely and Carol was happy to supply excellent vegan options. Great location, easy parking, lovely area to explore...

Yet again, we've had a wonderful stay! Carol is a fantastic host for whom nothing is too much trouble. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a really comfortable 4 post bed. Breakfast is always good, freshly prepared and always served with a smile. I really can't praise Carol enough; and we're already looking forward to next years visit.

Literally booked last second at like 1am for the same day and was blown away at how lovely the place was. One of those hidden little gems. Recommend a thousand times over and look forward to staying here again.

Stayed in Claxton Hall Cottage B&B for two lovely nights. Very warm and welcoming stay, beautifully homemade cake on arrival, very comfortable room and made all the better by our lovely host, Carol Brough. Her full English breakfasts are a must have - delicious. Nicely located for any attraction especially York City centre and Castle Howard. There will be a...

Comfortable well appointed rooms. A fabulous breakfast. Warm and welcoming hostess. Quiet setting even though just off the A46. Lovely old country house. BnBs don't get much better than this. AND Carol drove me to local restaurant since too dark on my bicycle! All This plus a good value for the price. Highly recommended.

What a lovely weekend away at Claxton hall cottage we've just had. We were greeted with coffee and a slice of cake upon arrival and shown to our lovely room with 4 poster bed. Carol the owner is very hospitable and served the most delicious breakfasts in the morning with a good choice on offer too. The only very small...

We stayed in the B&B cottage for a romantic weekend away. Before our stay Carol the owner couldn't of been more helpful with information about what to do and great places to eat through email. The location was great very peaceful, all you could hear were the birds tweeting. With free parking. The room was very nicely decorated, clean and...

We stayed two nights - choosing the B&B as it was near Castle Howard and had good reviews. They were right! Carol is a lovely, friendly lady who really makes an effort for her guests. The room was really nice - not large - but well equipped. We got our tea & cake on arrival as promised - which was...

Just had a weekend at this B&B. We were at a wedding at Sandburn Hall just round the corner. I wish the wedding venue had lived up to the standard of this B&B. We didn't arrive until late on Friday night and Carol, the owner, provided a welcome pot of tea and gluten free fruit cake! Being coeliac, this was...
