Tucked away in the picturesque village of Allerford, Cross Lane House is perfectly located for exploring Exmoor and the South West Coastal Paths. It is also great for cycling, horse riding, water sports & much more. It's an area that just keeps giving! The Grade II listed hotel forms part of the National Trust’s Holnicote Estate. Beautifully preserved, it’s popular with visitors all year round. The property has three en-suite bedrooms which have been individually and lovingly designed with your comfort in mind. The cosy Bar and Lounge is the perfect setting for drinks and something to eat. We believe in supporting local businesses first. Think Exmoor Botanical Gins, Dorset Vodkas, Somerset Cider and Cornish Rum. We took over the business in November 2019, it is our hopes and dream for Cross Lane House to be a 'home-from-home' a 'pillar in the community' and an escape from the hustle and bustle of life for those that need it! We look forward to welcoming you through the door soon. Best wishes Ellen and Billy

Booked a December trip to Cross Lane House as love the Porlock area, it is great for dog owners! We had a festive afternoon tea that was INSANELY good, the best afternoon tea I have ever had. I wish I could have it again right now! Our room was so clean, spacious and perfect. We enjoyed the fact it was separated from the other part of the house and we were above the bar. Everything from the food to the cocktail menu was amazing, I would highly recommend you book without hesitation. We will be returning in the future! Thanks to all involved at making our stay so special.

There are some compensations of the lockdown Shame we weren't able to enjoy the lovely surroundings of their restaurant but more than made up by two fabulous takeaway meals. Great food and always a welcoming service - we recommend it! PS. The Black Forest Gateaux was yummy!

We stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was like a second honeymoon. The warmth of the welcome, service and attention to detail was phenomenal - from the white rose left on our bed - to the incredible breakfasts delivered to the room each morning. Our room (Fry) was beautifully decorated, with a super comfy bed and powerful shower in the bathroom. The homemade biscuits we found on arrival were scrumptious and the huge, delicious home cooked breakfasts meant we didn't ever need lunch. There was a lovely view from the window of the room too. If we'd had to spend the whole weekend just in our room that would have been fine, but of course the hotel is situated in the most beautiful landscape and we had some excellent walks - with stunning views. I would reeommend - and have been - this place to anyone and will definitely stay again. It felt like excellent value and a really special place to be.

Cross Lane House is the perfect find. Exceptionally well run by Ellen and Billy, there is love and care shown in every detail and it is a joy to stay there. Beautiful rooms, super comfortable bed and heavenly bed linen; fresh flowers and homemade biscuits to welcome you; excellent restaurant and delicious and generous bar 'snacks' on the nights when the restaurant is closed. Great cocktail menu in the bar and a warm and convivial atmosphere throughout. Would go back in a heartbeat.
