We spent 4 nights in Gilsland Spa Hotel. All the staff we met were very friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious with melt-in-the-mouth meats. We were in Room 215 on the top floor with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and splendid sunsets. The bathroom was a little tired with a pink suite and shower... More

Visited along with members of the Gateshead Arthritis Support Group for lunch and afternoon entertainment. Enjoyed by all, excellent food although the menu was restricted to two courses, however the hotel was happy to cater for specific needs, ie gluten free or one lady who did not eat red meat. The entertainment was enjoyable. All together a very pleasant afternoon.

We booked this hotel because of the proximity to Hadrians Wall and the scenic views. Our first impression while driving in was positive as the building is very impressive from the outside. However, that as good as it got. We arrived an hour early at 3pm and were informed that the room wasn't ready and that we should come back... More

I used to visit Gilsland Spa now Hall many years ago. I came on a nostalgic trip. The place could do with a good revamp. The views are beautiful and it's a good place to go walking. That is one thing you cannot fault.

Here we are, back again, we have been several more times since my first review. It has not altered on fact it had got better. The location of Gilsland Spa is pretty stunning, beautiful scenery close to Hadrians Wall. It is also not too difficult to access by car being only a few miles from the A69. The hotel is quite large and seems to cater for coach tours mainly however check in for a one might business stay was efficient and friendly. The room... More

A £70 Friday night stay was all we asked for, and all we got. Large hotel with about 10 guests that night. Huge bar/restaurant area. Room was clean and comfortable. We made a mistake when booking which the helpful receptionist sorted out very quickly

This a difficult one for us to rate because the coach operator we travelled with advertised the Gilsland as a 4 star hotel.......which it patently isn't and the hotel does not make any such claims !!!. So, whilst our expectations weren't met, the hotel was, generally "OK". In truth it is a typical coach tour hotel and, when looked at... More
