Have stayed in this hotel on many occasions. Also go to events and Christmas partys on a regular basis. All staff and management at this hotel are fantastic and will always go out there way to make you feel welcome and would do anything for you. I personally can't recommend this place enough as every stay/visit to this hotel is always a great one.

Attended the Christmas party night on Saturday for our annual works night out. The Parkway never fails to disappoint. Food was tasty and piping hot. The singers were really good ( I think the same group as last year ) and sang a good range of Pop songs that we all knew. Service was quick and staff were lovely. I always appreciate that the manager brings out the entire waiting staff to take a bow at the end.. a nice touch. Well done and see you next year!

We visited the Parkway on 31st October and would say the whole visit was disappointing. We were particularly shocked by the service received by one member of staff whilst dining in the bar area. The gentleman that brought us our meal was lovely however, we had finished our meals and our plates were in front of us for some time. As a young waitress with red hair walked past my partner politely asked if she wouldn’t mind taking the plates away, the response was unbelievable. She looked my partner up and down, looked at the plates and walked off without saying a word. She then came back to collect the plates so I made a point of again, being polite, and smiling whilst saying thank you. She completely blanked me, again, didn’t say a word and took the plates away. Being restaurant owners ourselves, this would never happen in our establishment and I am bewildered that this was the behaviour of a waitress at the Parkway Hotel. The service from the reception staff was also not the friendliest but not quite as bad as the young, red haired waitress in the bar. We visit Cwmbran often and I would recommend the service at the Premier Inn over the Parkway.

Just come back from a 3 day (2 night stay) well-being crafting retreat held at The Parkway. Where to start. Room a very good size (double room), with all you could need, but pillows are rock hard and no heating in the room (though public areas are nice and warm). We were promised a room to craft in ( for 16 people), which on the first night, was a lovely bright room (which is needed when crafting). On the second evening we were in the same room, but the hotel saw fit to take a last minute booking for a small 18th birthday party (with a live band) and situate them in the same room as our crafting group, separated only by a thin folding partition! The noise was unbearable, windows rattling and floors bouncing and in every sense of the word was a nightmare. We were then told we had to vacate that room at 5pm (we normally craft until around 10pm) on our next session of crafting, the next day, as they ‘needed the room’ for a wedding party, so we had to pack up all our stuff (crafters carry A LOT OF STUFF), move it out into a holding room for overnight. So valuable time lost. On our last day, we were then told we couldn’t have the original room we were promised, but could use another room, so we took another hour or more to set up our stuff (more crafting time lost) where the light was very poor to craft by. Now onto the food - our stay involved 3 courses, of which there was NO CHOICE, except take it or starve! Food was not of the standard I would expect for a 4 star hotel every dish was extremely salty. If you have any special dietary requirements, expect them to be loosely adhered to, they seem to think gluten free people like to eat lots of sandwiches! Now onto the amenities. There’s a LOT of work needed in their toilets. Out of 5 cubicles in the ladies toilets 1 door wouldn’t shut and 2 cubicles had no locks, disgusting for public toilets! Out of said 5 cubicles, in EVERY one of them the toilet roll holders were literally hanging off, not a good look. If this hotel is looking to impress, they failed miserably. They are existing from their name alone and needs a LOT of maintenance. If you're looking for a luxurious stay, you won’t get it here. I’ve had higher standards at a Premier Inn and definitely won’t be paying several hundreds of pounds to stay here again. Very disappointing as this was a wellness retreat for our crafting group (led by high profile You Tubers) and all members of the group were stressed rather than relaxed. Avoid at all costs

Response from kerry jennings, General Manager at The Parkway Hotel & Spa
Responded 3 weeks ago
Dear Ronalda. We are very sorry to read of your disappointment regarding your recent event with us. Many of your comments we disagree with and we kindly highlight that the organiser of your event chose the running order for the duration, including menu choices, crafting rooms, room changes and timings etc. We also made the organiser aware that there was a wedding booked hence the room changes. I do agree that you had many items to pack up and therefore not an ideal situation that most likely marred the whole experience for you. Overall, the event seemed very received, having personally worked the weekend and in particular your event it was clear that it was enjoyed by many. I am however, very sorry that you feel disappointed and I value your feedback and comments. Yours sincerely Kerry Jennings General Manager

I used this particular venue because its where it all started 10 years ago.. I organised a very secret wedding vows renewal for me & my wife after 10 years of marriage.. We originally held a reception here 10yrs previous to this memorable day.. The sales team were involved in initial planning and organising this precious day, and even though I had a few personal issues to contend with, they were very helpful and caring.. Towards the end of the payment time, when it seemed their job of sales was completed, I was then handed over to a wedding co-ordinator to finalise the remaining few weeks.. 12months of dealing with one lady, and then a few weeks going through everything again to be sure we had covered everything, did me seem somewhat unfair on this young lady and indeed me as the customer.. So if the co- ordinator was the key to getting things finslised, all I'd ask is why couldn't she be involved from day one..? The food was great, the rooms were very nice, but also very warm.. We couldn't turn the temperature down or regulate it.. The room where we had the function was the same.. It became so hot in the function room that people left to go outside for fresh air.. I asked if the doors or any windows could be opened up, but apparently, if they did that, the other function room may complain.. So basically, we had to grin & bear it.. So unfortunately a small number decided to leave early because it was just too hot in the room.. So be prepared for that if you book here for a function.. I have to name a truly lovely lady , Jess.. A real diamond and a real credit to her employers.. A very polished and professional service by her.. Breakfast. Now, we found the food very nice. But they had pots with items like beans, scrambled eggs etc etc etc on a surface.. But as you took.one lid off to gain access to the food in dish, there was no-where to place the lid while you took you food from it.. You're stood there trying to balance a lid on plates or edge of surface while trying to take food from the dish itself, then replace lid to start again Then next one and so on.. So people are waiting longer than I believe they should do.. Why not have the food like other hotels, in hot trays to access easier and safer..? Staff serving the meal at the function part were young people doing a very good job.. So we'll done to them.. So for the reasons I have given, unfortunately, it's a 4 from me.. If I had given a 5 ,then I wouldn't be writing a true reflection of this last experience.. Don't be put off using this venue. Just ask the questions and potentially hire the big & small rooms that have dividing doors to allow more air to circulate..

I tried several times (3 emails have been sent) to reserve a room in this hotel to celebrate my future wife's birthday. It was absolutely impossible! They didn't reply. My girlfriend, tried to call them too and they say "oh we will call you back when we will be free"... We are still waiting for that phone call. I can say nothing about the place, because I didn't visit it, but this service is rubbish and they lost 2 customers

We chose this hotel as a halfway point for our travels, to break up the journey. There was plenty of parking when we arrived. We were a bit early for check in and so had a coffee in the lounge which seemed quite expensive for a small jug of strong coffee and a jug of hot water. The room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom was clean but seemed to carry the noise of adjacent bathrooms. I used the swimming pool in the spa area which I really enjoyed as it wasn’t too busy. Facilities in the changing area were good. Breakfast the next morning (an extra £10 per person on top of room rate) seemed a bit manic as we came down at the same time as a coach party, some of whom were quite demanding and impatient. But the food was very nice with a good selection. A few days later we realised we had left a jacket in the wardrobe. We contacted the hotel by email as we were abroad. They responded within 48 hours but there was no sign of the jacket.
