Detailed Reviews
Very basic site and certainly not a leisure park. Too many residential plots. Great views over the valley and cheap enough, though as the title says theres a reason its so cheap. Camping field is a very small plot of grass over hard-core.
However £1 for a shower is excessive and not a fan of cctv in the toilets, even after having to swipe in (only 1 card given per family which became arkward at times as you need the card to get on site too) the question i always ask myself is would I return? No for this site not a chance

The place was packed out with people ,but only one very small toliet and shower block, Only 3 showers, not very clean either. You are given a fob to use but not told that tokens are needed to shower, which can only be picked up from reception. The shower needs at least 2 tokens at a £1 each for a shower. The electric hook up was very temperamental and kept tripping.
The weather was very wet so the ground was very muddy, total lack of drainage on the pitches made it very dirty and miserable. Our awnings were covered in mud.
The pods had several guests that were roudy and loud, dogs and children allowed to run free and pester other guests.
On site is the Traveller rest for food and drink, although for what you get is expensive, and although we booked in advance we had a long wait in an over crowded room... social distancing was not observed, although a nod to it was evident by the hand wash station and sign, non of the staff wore masks or gloves.
On a positive note the site has spectacular views over the valley. The lanes around the site are lovely to walk, there is a working stable with horses, and further along there are Lamas. The little village about 3 miles away Oakdale has some nice independent shops, a butcher, bakery and small supermarket. About 5 miles away is the town of Blackwood there are a good array of shops cafes and a cinema.

We tried to book a camping pitch with hookup via Pitchup.com but only non hookups are listed If you go to the website directly you can book a pitch with hookup. The camping area was empty mid week and only a few at the weekend so plenty of room. We stayed for 5 days and found this site fairly central to the places we wanted to visit. A lot of the site is caravan storage areas which makes it feel less pleasant I think. It’s fairly boring and mostly concrete but the views are lovely. The toilets and showers are clean and entry is via a key fob. you are only given one key fob per booking though which was very inconvenient for a family of four and that’s probably the worst thing about this site. The staff were lovely though and that made our trip pleasant overall.

New to the caravan game but this place is fantastic and have done nothing but help us and show us what we are doing we are currently using there storage facility and will for the foreseeable
The storage unit and site is a secure entry with 24hrs a day fob activated barriers. The toilets and shower blocks are spotless and warm. Also secured access There is a small playground for children but site is geared for a quiet holiday. There is a fab pub on site selling food called travellers rest
The staff are polite, extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them The prices are very reasonable. And The photos do not do it justice as they have been working very hard over the last few years to update the site with loads of new pitches with water electric and grey water disposal points

My husband an I are in our 60s and we have been storing our caravan for nearly 10 years. The storage unit and site has been secure and entry allowed to storage unit 24hrs a day via fob activated barriers. The toilets are spotless and warm and always smell fresh. There is a small playground for children but site is geared for a quiet holiday. There is a fab pub on site selling gorgeous food. The staff are polite, well presented and extremely helpful. The prices are very reasonable. The photos do not do it justice as they have been working very hard over the last few years to update the site. There are also riding stables next door and towns and shops very close by.
We were very sad this week to have to hand our notice in due to ill health. It was a sad end to an era. We had no problems with the site in the 10 years and would probably have been happy to site it if we did not live around the corner.
We wish the team all the best for the future and we have been very grateful for all their help and assistance
Penyfan we thank you sincerely

Booked in here for end of may bank holiday weekend.
Worst decision ever, only booked it as a last minute thing and only place we could find with an electric hook up. Booking in was fine we were running a little bit late and the lady there called me to see if we were still coming and I explained were running late and she said she'd leave a key fob for us to use to access to the main gate. When we got there, there was an envelope with my name, key fob, map and a letter with site rules and instructions. We followed the map to the tent pitches and it was all down hill firm there. Theres probably about 10 pitches for tents in the whole park and there's no room between them, you get a pitch no bigger than 7m x 7m we have a large family tent and with that and a vehicle the pitch is full and the next pitch is within fingers touch. Putting the tent up a a massive struggle there, the tent pitches are just ontop of rubble, you can't push a peg in the ground without hitting a rock I bent loads of pegs trying to secure the tent down in the end I gave up, ( thank goodness it wasn't a windy weekend forecast). With the pitches so close together you can hear every word of the other people camping there. I know you can't do anything with the kind of people that go camping next to you but you'd think they'd have a bit of respect for other people staying there. The language, context of stuff they were talking about and constant belching every 20 minutes was disgusting. I went and spoke numerous times to say that we had young children with us, the tent the other side of us had young children too so could you please keep the language, music etc down in the the end it got way too much and had to go and have words again which nearly started in a fight. We left the next day for the safety of our kids as they didn't feel safe, but like I said you can't do anything about who your neighbors are whilst camping but we'll be avoiding that place like the plague from now on and be sure to book well in advance of a better site that caters for tents as this place seems to only cater for statics and tourers.
They do have a few glamping pods there, but if your thinking of a nice peaceful romantic glamping pod weekend away together again avoid this place at all costs, the pods are smack bang in the middle of the touring caravans, so you walk out of the pod and see joe bloggs scratching his arse and belching the alphabetical.

Had a little holiday with the family and booked to stay here for a long weekend. After reading the reviews on here I wasn't expecting much but was very pleased to see they was wrong. The park had a very friendly atmosphere there and the people in the office couldn't have been more helpful. Lots of lovely walks to go on and scenery was beautiful. The park has a brilliant pub/restaurant there which serves great food and had a fabulous night there with entertainment and lots of laughs. Will be visiting again shortly to set up my tourer there

Arrived on a soggy Saturday to a lovely smiley welcome from the managers. The pitches are level with good amps on ehu. Shower blocks ( there are 2) are clean and well maintained. We didn't try the pub but a few other campers said the food was really nice.
Great valley views.
Very well run.
No idea how the other reviewers gave such poor reviews, we have very high expectations on campsites and pen y fan met them.

The site was just what I needed peaceful, well secured and friendly helpful staff. Decent sized plots with all the necessities you need and shower blocks are decent to. Club house has nice food and catered for my vegetarian's requirement's. Prices for stay are reasonable also.

The staff here are friendly and helpful and the toilet/shower block is very clean. I did not favour the camera inside the toilet block. This, in my view is not a leisure site for holidays. It is mainly used as a residential site with big storage areas for caravans and motorhomes. I would not use it again as it is careworn has no real holiday facilities. It's a stopover point if you have no better alternatives.
