My wife and I loved every minute of our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights. It's located away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas on Antigua, but that was exactly what we were looking for. We got to stay in one of their brand new cottages. The room was HUGE! From the minute we arrived, Mara (the main housekeeper) took care of our every need. She is the sweetest! The meals we ate there were amazing, their pool is huge, and we loved spending our time walking around the grounds and hearing all of the birds chirping. We seriously can't recommend this hotel enough. Do yourself a favor and stay here! You won't regret it!!!
Really unique hotel - had a great time unwinding and enjoying the peace and history of the property. The staff were great and the food delicious. It was fresh and local which was nice. Hope to be back again soon.
Loved our time here!! We stayed for a week on the couples retreat, the service was 5 stars. The house, views, pool and food were all incredible. Could not recommend more! The retreat gives you free exercise classes and drinks, this was such a unique holiday that we will never forget. Thank you Great House Antigua!
It’s almost three weeks since we returned from the Great House and yet it’s balm stays with us. My husband and I travel frequently and love all that Antigua offers but this was very special. Apart from anything else, it was the first time that my husband has ever returned from a holiday and started to look for flights back! The house, though a bit tricky to find (look for number 9 on the free maps ) is elegant, well cared for and astonishing in its collections of furniture, paintings, photos and historical artefacts. This might seem a bit overwhelming in our minimalist world but it seems right for a house built in the 1670’s and of historic importance to the island. In fact, we originally asked for one of their newly built garden cottages which we could have occupied but were still being finished. It didn’t matter at all. We loved staying in the Royal Suite with its grand shutters and four poster bed. As well as the house, it was the staff and their attitude which was so very impressive. Mara, the housekeeper made us feel special and helped with everything, the chef produced fantastic food- fresh and delicious every day, and Celia came each day to give us yoga lessons which were perfect. As a keen swimmer, I loved the large and well run pool set in the middle of 27 acres of beautiful gardens. We were the only guests during our days there. I suspect this will not be the case for very long in this wonderful establishment! Our sincere thanks to Gabriella, the owner, for the immense attention to detail. We loved it!…
Following the sudden, unanticipated death of my Father in 2018, I went to Antigua alone in search of rest, relaxation, healing and introspection. By the grace of God, I stumbled on The Great House when researching the island and it’s no exaggeration to state that all my prayers were answered. It was truly a profound experience and precisely the unique holiday experience I was seeking. Waking to the sounds of wildlife each morning, I was blessed with the opportunity to partake in one-to-one yoga sessions with the most fabulous and attentive instructor, some days beneath the trees, on others with the view of the sea in the distance as the sun came up. Breakfast was then served by the equally friendly and attentive staff - meals were served three times daily and all the food was healthy and tasty in equal measure. The wi-fi signal was ample enough to not feel disconnected but insufficient to keep me stuck into a pattern of over-reliance on mobile technology for the duration of my stay – perhaps the biggest blessing of all! I was still able to download books to my Kindle and I spent most of my time reading, relaxing, swimming and reflecting in surrounds that delivered on my wish to seek temporary refuge from the pressures of modern day life to perfection. On the last day I had a boxing class with a fitness instructor in the great outdoor surrounds as the sun went down before indulging in a two hour hot stone massage treatment to complete my holiday. I still feel emotional when I think about the uplifting, replenishing effects my stay at the Great House had upon me and I am forever grateful to the staff there for their kindness during a sensitive time for me personally. I sincerely hope I am lucky enough to be able to return there again in the not-too-distant future.…
