Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I used the gym, spa and had pre booked treatments today, as a day visitor. Naomi was my therapist and I’d thoroughly recommend her. I had a 90 minute treatment which included a Espa facial and massage. The pool area was clean and comfortable too.

It’s such a shame about this hotel as it’s got lovely grounds and could be such an amazing place! Room was ok, dirty bed sheets with make up all over them. The bathroom floor was absolutely lethal and so slippery, I fell over and hit my head. The spa facilities were a complete let down. There were holes in the ceilings, building stuff lying around all over the hotel but no work being carried out. The hot tub was absolutely filthy and didn’t even get in with all black dirt at the bottom of it floating around. Sauna and steam room absolutely tiny and was busy so couldn’t use them. Some staff were lovely some very miserable. The cooked breakfast was ok, juices etc hadn’t been refilled the girls were just stood around talking. The meats, yoghurts etc wasn’t chilled it was all left out for hours in a boiling hot room. Asked for sauce and a lady pulled it out from a dirty draw pre made in a pot but couldn’t use it as was thick like jelly and had already been used. Could honestly go on but don’t waste your money! Wouldn’t return. The dead flowers got me on the tables!

Visited Bryn Meadows to celebrate my friend's 40th Birthday there was 5 of us in total. We had Sunday lunch to start which was absolutely delicious, the views over the golf course was amazing too and had a really good vibe. I wish I could've fit in 3 courses but I could only fit in 2 courses I was so full I couldn't eat another bit. We then made our way to the Spa and was given the choice of 2 x 25 minute treatments or 1x50 minute treatment. I opted for a 25 minute neck back and shoulder massage and a 25 minute facial with scalp massage. Naomi greeted me and took me to the treatment room she settled me in and worked on the knots in my back very firmly just as I had asked. The facial was amazing the hot towels she used was so nice. She didn't rush me at all and spoke very gently and the whole experience was very relaxing and perfect to be honest. I would definitely recommend Naomi to anyone. We then made our way to the pool which was freezing so I couldn't brave that unfortunately, we went in the jacuzzi, hydro pool, aromatherapy room and steam room. We couldn't get in the steam room it was too full from the minute we got there, we spent 2 hours there. It was very busy in the pool area and very male orientated. Overall we enjoyed our time in the pool area.

Stayed for a night and it was ok, nothing more. I think its expensive for what it is. The room was painted badly in a battle ship grey colour, which was splodged on the bathroom door. The sofa bed looked old. Attention to detail is lacking but it was comfortable. The fire alarm went off 10 minutes into settling in to our room. A bit of notice at check in that there was going to be a test would of been good, especially as my daughter is Autistic so that immediately unsettled her. Yes i had to ask for more coffee and milk sachets and for the number to call reception and a menu for the restaurant all little picky things but I still would of gone back as its near to where we need to be but I wont as they have gone cashless. I refuse to 'embrase the future' or however else they want to push it as I can see a cashless society is a scary disasterous concept.

Had the most lovely afternoon tea for a belated Christmas Present for my partner’s grandmother - not only was the food lovely, the staff were amazing! So hospitable and accommodating - nothing was too much for them! Thank you to Celeste and their colleagues for making an special occasion even more memorable for all the right reasons!

Another business discriminating against people who don’t use cards for whatever reason. Surely cash is still legal tender? I’ve had quite a few spa sessions and afternoon teas at this venue, but no longer. They have lost my custom, and that of my friends.

Stayed here to attend a family get together, was upgraded to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. Room had been recently decorated / carpeted. Generally a good stay but air con / heating unit was so noises it had to be switched off, towel heating rail in bathroom didn’t work, only 3 cartons of milk on arrival & these were not replaced during our stay neither was the toilet roll replenished. 🤷‍♂️ Toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall & there was tooth paste all down the vanity cabinet. Used the restaurant both evenings & food was ok albeit service was not the best. breakfast was included in the price but anything other the full English had a supplement attached to it which was bazaar & very disappointing. Generally the whole set up needs some TLC in all areas from maintenance to service. All above reported on check out but receptionist didn’t appear to be surprised with my concerns / issues.

A lovely spa day experience with friends. Us 4 ladies had such a nice day made all the more special by the friendly and welcoming staff. We each booked the “Calm” experience which was great value for money, use of all the facilities and followed by a tasty lunch

Our friend group booked an afternoon tea as our Christmas present to each other so we were really looking forward to a treat. But we were so disappointed. For just under £25 per person you have a certain expectation of quality…. There was no selection of teas to choose from and the tea we were served was cold. The crockery was all pretty grubby and the first cup I was given was so heavily stained I couldn’t drink out of it. The sandwiches were stale and the selection was akin to what you may be offered on a hospital ward - tuna mayonnaise with a thick layer of butter, cucumber with a thick layer of butter and cheese (seemingly made with that pre-grated cheese from a packet) and Branston pickle, all served on cheap mass-produced bread. The patisserie layer was equally disappointing - a very ordinary chocolate mousse tart, a slab of something which was apparently carrot cake and a sponge cupcake, but the savoury layer was just a bit of a joke…a sausage roll which was about the size of a 50p coin and a small falafel. Compared with other afternoon teas I’ve had in/nearer Cardiff of a comparable price this was really poor.

Suzanne Taylor 1/5 18 hours ago on Google Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Very disappointed with the whole experience. Restaurant was cold. The service was poor felt like they couldn't be bothered. The amount of food was poor ( five boiled potatoes between 4 of us!) Horseradish turned up when we'd almost finished our meal. Waited ages for our dessert.....only to be told the chef had gone on break. .... REALLY.....couldn't wait to leave.
