This hotel gives some sense of what life was like for tourists pre-revolution and how the culture is now trying to embrace the influx of tourists while staying true to revolutionary ideals, which is a tricky balancing act. So - you have a gorgeous, ornate and relatively well-maintained property (especially by Cuban standards, where things are often held together with... More

I was hugely disappointed with the hotel nacional. I would definitely recommend visiting the gardens for a drink but don't stay here. It's horrendously overpriced. The room smells damp, we had no hot water. We had to bring our bags into the hotel ourselves (which I don't mind but the people working there were really rude and unhelpful- maybe because... More

The hotel Nacional oozes tons of charm AND it has a pleasant outside garden bar where you can have a drink not even for an outrageous price (think CUC 2,50 for a beer). Also it sports a good alternative to the expensive Tropicana cabaret, the Cabaret Parisien. We walked the Malecon (seafront boulevard) from the Paseo to the Nacional, about... More

Built in 1932 this hotel offers stunning architecture. Right on the water. You'll have a view of the ocean on one side or Havana on the other. Changing your currency there is easy. Staff was friendly. Leave something for the maids every day and they'll leave you a thank you note. The carpets smell musty but no big deal. Nice... More

I didn't stay in the hotel, but this hotel is a must see, lots of history, this is the hotel to visit if you're looking for those hard to find cigars, The Casa de Habana in the basement is one of the best around Cuba.

Great location! Service is excellent for the most part! But the rooms are a tired. 5 star is a bit much for this place, but all the visiting presidents stay here. It is close to the Malecon and the water, cabs are easily obtained here. The buffet was good, but the service was slow for coffee, the workers talked to... More

. Stupendous and historically significant photos of well known guests from the 1950's; ambiance in lobby, grounds, bars were enchanting; walking distance to restaurants and bazaar; excellent maid service;24hour on-site free medical doctor

Dear guest. Thanks you for sharing your opinion about the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. The hotel was opened on december 30, 1930, it is a "living museum". We would like that you return to the hotel again. Best Regards, Antonio Martinez Rodriguez General Director More

Grand Impression if you arrive, impressive building, friendly reception, but at the same time not always (warm) water to shower, no diet coke, not the highest quality of foods, small rooms, smoking visitors everywhere and bloody expensive.

This is a very interesting hotel and history but it is not a 5 star hotel. Landmark it is though and it offers beautiful views of the Malecón & water. Personnel is nice and kind and try to help but falls short (if you compare to other 5 star hotels).

The hotel is a landmark and offers beautiful views of the Malecón & water. The courtyard is gorgeous. The hotel is a bit old, but that is part of its charm. The staff was super friendly, helpful and professional. We enjoyed live music in the courtyard nightly and the Cuban sandwiches there were delicious for lunch or a late night... More
